Los fabricantes de marcas reconocidas como Toshiba, Fujitsu o Dell ofrecen (o no lo hacen en absoluto como Sony) gamas de netbooks bastante limitadas en lo que a características y ergonomía se refiere. Teclados ridículos, almacenamiento escaso o pocas posibilidades de ampliación son algunas de las carencias que en cierto modo suponen diferenciar a los netbooks de sus propuestas más solventes y caras dentro de la ultraportabilidad. De todos modos, esta diferenciación es un tanto exagerada. Modelos como EeePC 1000H son muy correctos en todo, aunque al mismo tiempo cierran las puertas a características como la protección de los datos mediante chips TPM, la resolución de pantalla es incómoda para trabajar con presentaciones u hojas de cálculo y las carcasas no son especialmente resistentes ni emplean materiales de alta tecnología.

Si tuviera que decantarme por alguno de estos dos Netbooks creo que mi apuesta seria para el EeePC 901. Se trata de un ordenador muy capaz con un formato compacto y robusto, con una autonomía excelente y unas prestaciones sorprendentes para su tamaño. Sin embargo, el modelo 1000H ofrece lo que muchos andan buscando que no es tener un ordenador tan compacto sino algo que les permita almacenar una buena cantidad de datos en un formato cómodo de manejar, con una autonomía sobresaliente y un precio increíble para un ordenador de menos de 1.5Kg de peso.

I am thrilled by this little netbook, and based on its specs, price, and reading various reviews of other netbooks on the web, I would go as far as saying that the 1000H might be the best netbook on the market. It offers nearly every feature found on similar netbooks, but takes it a step further with a 1” larger screen, as well as Bluetooth and wireless-N. The build quality is also fantastic, and upgradability is made simple with the removable back panel offering easy access. The Eee PC 1000H is an excellent combination of performance and size, wrapped up in a usable 10” screen and a $450 price tag. I unconditionally recommend it to anyone in the market for a netbook, as I believe it to be the best one available.

All in all, the 1000H has its share of quirks, it definitely showcases an improvement in ease of use, and should open up the Eee PC lineup to a much broader subset of customers. There are certainly areas which Asus can/will improve on but the 1000H today is sleek, simple, efficient, and cheap for a fully functional Windows XP notebook. It's hard not to like the little bugger. It's an attractive product now, and will be made even more attractive when Asus updates their lineup with the new dual-core Atom processor, which is scheduled to hit later this year. We'll be waiting.

As far as the near future goes, I plan on getting eeeBuntu (or something like it) as dialed in as possible but keeping my Windows XP partition. If eeeBuntu works really well, I can’t see using Windows very often, but I have the 80GB so I might as well have the option. I’m considering dropping in more RAM and even a 2.5-inch SSD, but neither are necessary and they would just be 30-minute projects. There is some room for tinkering with the system, but I’ll probably stay more on the software side, as the hardware side of the 1000H is pretty much in line with my needs right now.

If you take a step back and forget about the competitors and the price wars and so on, the Asus Eee PC 1000H turns out to be a very solid 10-inch netbook. It offers a good typing experience, a usable display, and a full set of features, making just what people need from a netbook. Where the Eee PC 701 was OK as a secondary notebook, the 1000H could be a primary notebook (but not, for most people, your primary computer). This may seem like a fine distinction, but it represents a big jump in usefulness and productivity. Once you factor in the price and competition, things get a lot more complex–Asus has still put out a very good product but the tough competition in this segment means that, for many people, it is not as desirable a system as some of the alternatives.

The 1000H's 10in screen brings it in line with the MSI Wind U100 and Advent 4211 - in our view the best two mini-laptops so far. However, the similarly configured MSI Wind NB offers comparable performance and endurance for $150 less, although some will prefer the 1000H's slick aesthetics. We like the Eee PC 1000H, but we’ll like it a lot more if the final pricing for the system winds up being less.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 es un chip de video integrado (incorporado) en Mobile Intel 945GM chipset.  Es una versión con frecuencia más rápida del GMA 900.

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

Intel Atom:

La gama Intel Atom es un microprocesador de 64 bits para portátiles, MID’s o UMPC’s baratos y pequeños. Lo especial de esta nueva arquitectura es la ejecución “in order” (en lugar de la usual y más rápida ejecución “out of order”). Por tanto, el número de transistores del Atom es mucho menor y por tanto más barato de producir.

10.2": La portátil tiene un formato de pantalla muy pequeña y rara para sub-portátiles.
La ventaja es, que la sub-portátil puede tener dimensiones menores y puede ser cargada fácilmente.
