Teniendo en cuenta el peso de cada una de las prestaciones que hemos tomado en cuenta y dándole un valor importante al precio, y más en los tiempos que corren, creo que el Eee PC 901 se lleva el gato al agua porque no solo supera notablemente en precio a sus competidores sino que en prestaciones tiene un equilibrio sobresaliente. No es una máquina perfecta pero por sus 200€ de coste es el mejor netbook de 9” que podemos encontrar en el mercado.

Si tuviera que decantarme por alguno de estos dos Netbooks creo que mi apuesta seria para el EeePC 901. Se trata de un ordenador muy capaz con un formato compacto y robusto, con una autonomía excelente y unas prestaciones sorprendentes para su tamaño. Sin embargo, el modelo 1000H ofrece lo que muchos andan buscando que no es tener un ordenador tan compacto sino algo que les permita almacenar una buena cantidad de datos en un formato cómodo de manejar, con una autonomía sobresaliente y un precio increíble para un ordenador de menos de 1.5Kg de peso.

Asus can be credited with having started the whole netbook idea off (at least in its current incarnation - we haven't forgotten Psion). Even if you want to argue against that proposition, perhaps opting for Intel with its Atom processor as the driving force, or some other player, then it is difficult to argue that Asus has not been a driving force behind the format's success. Last year our editorial staff was absolutely amazed by the original Eee PC. The original Eee PC finally delivered something that many consumers have wanted since laptops first arrived on the market: an extremely portable laptop with reasonable performance for travel at an extremely low cost. The new Eee PC 901 is an impressive update to the Eee PC line, but we have trouble getting excited about this mini notebook The problem is that the budget mini notebook market has exploded in recent months, with many capable alternatives on the market. Worse still is the fact that ASUS itself has already trumped the 901 with the new Eee PC 1000 series notebooks. The Eee PC 901 is still an impressive mini notebook or "netbook" for your travel needs, but we hesitate to recommend this particular notebook over the newer Eee PC 1000H which features a larger keyboard, larger screen, and a larger capacity traditional hard drive.

ASUS Eee PC 901

On the whole, I must say that I’m quite impressed with the Eee PC 901. The original felt more like a secondary computer to me with limited appeal, however, the 901 can be used as a primary laptop. The Atom provides reasonable performance and the exceptional Battery Life on the unit lets you work on it for many hours. The bumped up screen resolution and size also allow for a much better movie-watching and web surfing experience. About the only thing I don’t like is the Keyboard which is still cramped up for me but that really is something personal and may not be the same for everybody else. The pricing for 901 is not available at the time, but I would guess it would retail around AED 2,200 as the 900 is selling for 1999/- At that point, it becomes a bit expensive considering the original Eee PC sole foe AED 1,399. However, unlike the original Eee PC, the 901 can very much be used as your everyday laptop.

The 900, released only a few months ago, simply added a larger screen and Windows XP to the original design, but the 901 has a new case, better networking and, crucially, a new processor inside. If the ASUS Eee 900 basically amounted to a larger-screened version of the 7-inch original, then the Eee 901 marks its graduation into a distinct model. Packing Intel’s latest 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, in place of the 900’s Celeron 900MHz, ASUS could reasonably have left the rest of the notebook the same and simply added a little to the price. The 901 then is a definite improvement over the stop-gap Eee900, but due to the now bloated marketplace it's hard to get quite as excited as with the original seven-inch version. Still, it's a fine machine and comes out cheaper, and with a longer life, than the current shipment of Winds. It's also probably at the sweet-spot of the ultra-portable form factor, any larger and you're straying dangerously close to standard laptop territory. The 10-inch Eee 1000 ought to be careful.

Thus, Asus is launching the Eee PC 901 - less of a whole new model, more an Atomic Eee PC 900 with added curves. To recap, the 900 brought the original Eee up to the specification most people were clamouring for: an 8.9in, 1,024 x 600 screen, a more sensible 1GB of RAM and up to 20GB of solid-state storage. A fine improvement over the Eee PC 900, with longer battery life and sleeker looks - but its rivals are sneaking up on the Eee with every release.

There's no doubt, the Eee PC 901 is the machine the 900 should have been but wasn't. It's got more features, a better processor and graphics, much longer battery life and yet costs less. Even if the 900 was slightly cheaper, we'd still go for the 901. Anyone who decided to ignore the 900 and wait for the 901 instead, will find they did the right thing.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 es un chip de video integrado (incorporado) en Mobile Intel 945GM chipset.  Es una versión con frecuencia más rápida del GMA 900.

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

Intel Atom:

La gama Intel Atom es un microprocesador de 64 bits para portátiles, MID’s o UMPC’s baratos y pequeños. Lo especial de esta nueva arquitectura es la ejecución “in order” (en lugar de la usual y más rápida ejecución “out of order”). Por tanto, el número de transistores del Atom es mucho menor y por tanto más barato de producir.

N270: Procesador eficiente energeticamente, barato y lento de un solo nucleo para Netbooks. Debido a la ejecución in-order, el rendimiento por MHz es peor que el de los procesadores Core Solo o Celeron M.

8.9": La portátil tiene un formato de pantalla muy pequeña y rara para sub-portátiles.
La ventaja es, que la sub-portátil puede tener dimensiones menores y puede ser cargada fácilmente. Además, la pequeña pantalla tiene la ventaja de que necesita de menos energía, lo que mejora el tiempo de ejecución de la batería y como consecuencia la movilidad. La desventaja es que la lectura de textos es muy exhaustiva para los ojos. Altas resoluciones difícilmente pueden ser usadas.
