Despite some niggling issues regarding the keyboard and a noisy fan, it's hard to ignore the value and quality on offer here. With two batteries in the box, HDMI output, 4GB RAM and an SSD for the same price as a fairly basic entry-level Sony TZ, it puts down a formidable challenge to its competitors. Add in the excellent screen, good performance and attractive design and you've got an exceedingly tempting alternative. Our only other regret is the lack of an HSDPA equipped version.

Nevertheless, the U2E’s fashion-forward design, along with its small and light build, DVD burner, and array of ports, make it a first-class luxury business notebook.

Go on, run your hands along the Asus U2E's leather-trim exterior. This ultraportable laptop's luxurious cladding and long list of extras will make you feel like you're handling premium gear. But we found other things to like about the Asus U2E beyond its style. To begin with, the Asus U2E weighs just 1.25kg. It has a brilliant 1366-x-768-Pixel, 11in widescreen display. Like Sony's VAIO VGN-TZ295N ultraportable, the Asus U2E's screen is easy to view in tight spaces, although it lacks LED backlighting. The Asus U2E isn't as complete a package as the VAIO, but it is much cheaper, at a reasonable (for an ultraportable) £1,394 inc VAT.
Fazit: The Asus U2E is a fun, stylish notebook, and its cowhide couture is bound to turn some heads, though perhaps not those of die-hard Apple fans.

The Asus U2E is one of the most impressive luxury business notebooks we've ever seen. Granted, the $2,000 price tag is more than most consumers are likely to consider ... but this isn't an ordinary laptop. Asus managed to create one of the smallest and lightest notebooks with a built-in optical drive and a build quality that is second to none. The ASUS U2E is perhaps one of the best notebooks to hit the ultra-mobile market. Ever. By offering both solid performance for this segment, a list of features that exceeds machines much larger, size and weight that any road warrior would envy and battery life of nearly 8.5 hours ASUS is able to address nearly every concern for the mobile market; not to mention that it is simultaneously sexy and elegant. I have no doubt that the U2E will be incredibly popular and from my time testing it I can see no reason why it shouldn't be.

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G es la sucesora DirectX 10 capaz de GeForce Go 7400 para laptops y tecnológicamente una tarjeta de video 8400M GT más lenta y reducida con conexión de memoria dividida y solo la mitad de procesadores stream. El rendimiento es levemente mayor a 7400 y por lo tanto puede representar juegos actuales fluidamente con detalles/resoluciones reducidas. Para personas que juegan ocasionalmente, puede ser suficiente.
Estas tarjetas también deben ser capaces de aguantar todos los juegos actuales, pero la mayoría de ellos en configuraciones de detalles medios y bajos y con bajas resoluciones. Juegos más antiguos, o menos exigentes todavía pueden ser jugados con buena calidad de gráficos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y 291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit", SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep, LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.
El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
