Archive.org versionYo personalmente me quedo con los dos ya que este tipo de maquinas económicas, medianamente potentes, de largos periodos de autonomía, son lo que siempre he soñado llevar en la mochila. Cierto es que el Asus aprovecha la nueva generación de procesadores para superar en muchos aspectos al Acer pero los dos tienen ese encanto de maquina compacta, de acabados bastante cuidados, silenciosas, frescas y versátiles y que no dejan de lado la comodidad de uso.
Como en toda buena comparativa que se precie hay que mojarse y yo personalmente pagaría esos 100€ de mas por el Asus aunque preferiría el color más claro, blanco/gris, a este negro y por una única y tonta razón que es que en el gris del aluminio las huellas se aprecian menos y da una mejor sensación estética.

The bottom line: At $799, the UL30A is a compelling value.

At just over $700 depending on configuration (our build had an MSRP of $799), it's really hard to not give this machine a serious look if you need a new ultraportable. This rig is far more capable and far more enjoyable to use than any netbook we've tested to date, even the ones that soared above the $500 mark. If you can save up a few more bucks, you'll thank yourself for snagging a CULV-based system over an Atom-based system. There's really no comparison when it comes down to it. We think a new bar has been set, and for just over $700, we think you'd be hard pressed to find a sleeker, more enjoyable rig to buy than the UL30.

Comes with very good looks and overall almost impeccable construction quality, decent autonomy and a good price for what it has to offer. It is actually quite hard to find a fault for the Asus UL30A . There are some minors ones i found though, but I’m quite picky and most won’t even notice them. All in all, i have to say again I’m really impressed by this device. From the chiclet style keyboard to the quality of the screen and the performance levels, everything is just as it should be. That’s why this UL30A is now on top of my ultra-portable notebooks list.

Some features were sacrificed for a lower price including a lower resolution webcam and a battery that gives the hinge side a fairly large profile. Overall though, it is a good system for the road warrior on a budget that doesn't want to spend on something like a MacBook Air.

With marathon-level battery life, this is one of the most portable notebooks we’ve seen. Its performance lags, but its $799 price puts it ahead of the pricey ultraportable pack.

Aquellos que optan por la cómoda versión de 13,3 pulgadas, están buscando movilidad compacta. La ausencia de un drive óptico en el UL30A es aceptada como un compromiso en este caso. At just $650, it also makes it a nice step between a netbook and a more powerful full-featured laptop. Now ASUS just needs to fix the terrible trackpad button and up the RAM to a more reasonable 4GB.

However, the touchpad button is pretty awful, nearly ruining the overall experience. Plus, for $629, we would hope for more than 4.5 hours of endurance. When it comes to inexpensive 12-inch systems, we think the Asus Eee PC 1215N is a better value. It offers a much larger touchpad, more comfortable mouse button, and drastically better graphics performance for just $499. Sure, the UL20FT has a more premium feel and does a better job of resisting fingerprints, but we'd much rather carry around a cloth than an external mouse.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. es un importante fabricante taiwanés de hardware informático con sede en Taipei, fundado en 1989. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: El Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (en ocasiones llamado también GMA X4500 HD u otras combinaciones) es un adaptador gráfico integrado compatible con DirectX 10 en los chipset GM45, GE45 y GS45 de la plataforma Centrino 2 (Montevina). El chip no tiene memoria de video dedicada, pero toma memoria dinámicamente de la principal (hasta 384 MB).
La versión a 400 MHz de la 4500MHD encontrada en los chipsets GL40 y GS40, se llama GMA 4500M (sin el HD) y tiene un peor rendimiento en juegos 3D y descodificación de video.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Tarjeta gráfica integrada en las nuevas CPUs Arrandale (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Core). Dependiendo del modelo y de Turbo Boost, la GMA HD tiene una velocidad de reloj entre 166 y 766 MHz.

Intel Core 2 Solo:
SU3500: Procesador single core energéticamente eficiente para pequeños subportátiles que se basa en el núcleo Penryn e incluye todos los recursos (como Virtualización, C6 state, ...). El rendimiento debe ser comparable con un Athlon II Neo K125 de 1,7 GHz.
Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y 291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit", SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep, LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.
El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
SU7300: Lento procesador dual core con un TDP bajo de 10 Watts.
Intel Pentium Dual Core: El procesador Double Core con una muy buena relación de rendimiento a consumo de corriente. Los 2 MB L2 Cache son utilizados juntos al doble. La capacidad máxima de 31 watts es únicamente 4 watts mayor que la Pentium M (predecesor).
SU4100: Procesador dual core de nivel básico para sub-portátiles delgados y livianos. Debido a l nombre de Pentium, el CPU puede tener menos recursos de ahorro de energía que los procesadores Core 2 Duo.
Intel Celeron Dual-Core:
SU2300: CPU dual core de nivel básico para portátiles pequeños. Ofrece apenas un rendimiento bajo debido a la baja frecuencia y debido a la marca Celeron algunos recursos para ahorrar energía están deshabilitados.
Intel Core i3:
330UM: El Core i3-330UM es un procesador de ultra bajo voltaje para portátiles sin Turbo Boost y funciones AES. Gracias al Hyperthreading, 4 threads pueden ser procesados simultáneamente. Una tarjeta de video integrada (Intel HD Graphics con 166-500 MHz) y un controlador de memoria DDR3-800 también están incluidos en el paquete.
