Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. Si la frecuencia es demasiado lenta, la gente sensible podría experimentar problemas visuales, dolores de cabeza e incluso ver parpadeos.
Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM detectado 50 Hz70 % de brillo

La retroiluminación del display parpadea a 50 Hz (seguramente usa PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) a un brillo del 70 % e inferior. Sobre este nivel de brillo no debería darse parpadeo / PWM.

La frecuencia de 50 Hz es bajísima, por lo que el parpadeo puede causar fatiga visual y cefaleas cuando se usa mucho tiempo.

Comparación: 60 % de todos los dispositivos testados no usaron PWM para atenuar el display. Si se usó, medimos una media de 456 (mínimo: 43 - máxmo: 10420) Hz.

Tiempos de respuesta del display

Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. Particularmente los aficionados a los juegos 3D frenéticos deberían usar una pantalla con tiempos de respuesta rápidos.

Este Lenovo de 17.3" está hecho para usuarios domésticos que necesitan un sencillo portátil ofimático para casa.

El procesador Core i5 de nuestro modelo de pruebas fue la elección adecuada. Sin embargo, la GPU Radeon parece ser algo "que está bien tener, pero que se puede pasar sin ello", ya que no ofrece aumentos importantes de rendimiento. El fabricante podría haberlo omitido o haber instalado un modelo más potente. El portátil apenas se calienta y funciona en silencio en inactivo. En cuanto el ventilador alcanza altas velocidades, empieza a emitir un molesto murmullo. Gracias al HDD de 1 TB, el usuario siempre tendrá espacio suficiente, pero es posible cambiar el HDD por un SSD. Para ello habría que abrir la carcasa.

Sobre la carcasa: el portátil debería dejarse en una mesa fiable. La base del portátil es endeble y la placa base podría dañarse si se mueve mucho por ahí. El teclado del modelo de pruebas está bien para el uso doméstico. Por otro lado, la pantalla es mala ya que tiene poco brillo, mal ángulo de visión, y una superficie reflectante. El contraste y el aguante de batería son aceptables.
