El nuevo HP Envy 4 es un ultrabook de HP que cumple con las principales características que deben tener estos dispositivos pero que huye del tamaño establecido (sube su pantalla hasta las 14 pulgadas en vez de las 13,3). Su sistema de almacenamiento híbrido, aunque un paso por debajo del rendimiento que conseguimos con un disco SSD integral, permite disfrutar de una velocidad de arranque muy interesante (Windows 7 es capaz de iniciarse en poco más de medio minuto si contamos con pocas aplicaciones instaladas).

This computer is what Intel promised when it introduced the Ultrabook concept. Thin and fast laptops don’t have to be the standard bearer for their manufacturer, and the HP Envy 4 proves it. While using it, I could tell that HP makes a better laptop. There are certainly design decisions that differentiate this laptop from its upmarket cousin, the HP Spectre Envy line. But that’s okay, because there are a great deal of people–perhaps you’re one–who need a computer for daily life, not to benchmark or lust over. The HP Envy 4 does almost everything well and would be an decent, useable computer for just about anybody.

Not long after the Folio 13, HP is launching another ultrabook, the Envy 4, this time for the "big screen" laptop market with a sale price starting at £650. The disappointing figures we got when we tested the display automatically put the Envy 4 down two stars. The sound from the headphone and speaker jacks also needs some major work and the heat levels are a bit high. In this price range, we'd say go with a Vaio T13 instead.

HP's Envy Ultrabook 4 offers a very stylish 14-inch ultrabook design with some very fast boot times. Overall it isn't a terribly bad package but it has a few flaws that make it just average. First off, the screen is dark and harder to use in many situations. More importantly, Windows 8 is much better with touchscreen displays and several 14-inch touchscreen ultrabooks are available at the same price as this.

HP: La compañía Hewlett-Packard fundada en 1935, comúnmente conocida como HP, es una corporación tecnológica con sede en California, Estados Unidos. HP se especializa en el desarrollo y fabricación de hardware de computación, almacenamiento, redes, software y servicios. Las líneas de producto principales incluyen dispositivos de informática personales, servidores empresariales, dispositivos de almacenamiento, así como un amplio rango de impresoras y otros productos de imágenes. Otras líneas de productos, incluyendo equipamiento y sistemas de prueba electrónica, equipamiento electrónico para medicina, componentes de estado sólido e instrumentos para análisis químico. HP publicó unos ingresos anuales de 91,7 mil millones de dólares USA en 2006, siendo el mayor vendedor de tecnología del mundo respecto a las ventas. En 2007 los ingresos fueron de 104 mil millones, haciendo de HP la primera compañía de IT en la historia en anunciar ingresos de más de 100 mil millones. Estas tarjetas también deben ser capaces de aguantar todos los juegos actuales, pero  la mayoría de ellos en configuraciones de detalles medios y bajos y con bajas resoluciones. Juegos más antiguos, o menos exigentes todavía pueden ser jugados con buena calidad de gráficos.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Tarjeta de video de procesador de gama alta de los modelos Ivy Bridge. Ofrece una frecuencia diferente en los diferentes modelos de CPU (ULV a quad core de desktop) y, por tanto, un rendimiento diferente.

AMD Radeon HD 7670M: Una Radeon HD 6650M con nombre modificado y, por lo tanto, aún producida en 40nm.

Algunos juegos actuales no fastidiosos pueden ser jugados fluidamente con pequeños detalles.

Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 futuras (1er trimestre 2011) tarjetas de video integradas en los procesadores Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). La 3000 / 200 es la versión más veloz (internamente llamada GT2, con 12 Unidades de Ejecución (EUs).

Intel Core i5:

3317U: CPU ULV basado en Ivy-Bridge en el segundo trimestre de 2012. Ofrece una frecuencia de 1,7 - 2,6 GHz y un GPU HD 4000 (350 - 1050 MHz). El TDP es de 17 W.

Intel Core i3:

2367M: Procesador ULV energéticamente eficiente con frecuencia de 1,4 GHz sin Turbo Boost. Ofrece una HD 3000 integrada con baja frecuencia de 350 / 1000 MHz y un controlador de memoria DDR3-1333.

2377M: Procesador ULV energéticamente eficiente con frecuencia de 1,5 GHz sin Turbo Boost. Ofrece una HD 3000 integrada con baja frecuencia de 350 / 1000 MHz y un controlador de memoria DDR3-1333.

14.0: Una pantalla de 14 pulgadas es una mezcla entre los formatos pequeños de sub-portátiles y las pantallas de 15 pulgadas estándar.
La razón del porque a tantas personas les gustan pantallas con tamaño mediano es, que ese tamaño no es exhaustivo para los ojos, no necesita de mucha energía, pero por otro lado las portátiles pueden ser mantenidos bien compactos.
