Handing the HP Pavilion dv9000t (Vista) an Editors' Choice six months ago wasn't a difficult decision. It boasted some of the finer things a Media Center laptop can offer, including a gorgeous 17-inch screen, an HD DVD drive, optimized playback software, and a list of A/V features that made your current desktop look prehistoric. The HP Pavilion dv9500t ($1,949 direct) picks up where the dv9000t left off: It delivers the best HD experience for the price, and it's been rejuvenated with a new set of Intel components to keep up with the latest performance trends. On the strength of these two factors, it earns (and retains for the dv9000 series) the Editors' Choice for the Media Center category. The design and form factor of the dv9000 series has been solid since its inception over a year ago. Its 8.2-pound chassis makes it one of the lightest 17-inch laptops in the business, matching the Sony VAIO VGN-AR590E.

Equipped with a stylish 17-inch screen, this is the ultimate multimedia notebook. or people who like designer notebooks, HP has produced another sure winner in the Pavilion dv9500t. This desktop replacement offers the same stylish swirl case pattern, dropped hinges, and piano-black lid as its predecessor, the dv9000t, but with several important improvements, including Intel's latest Santa Rosa mobile processor. With a 2.2-GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 and 2GB of 667-MHz DDR2 SDRAM, the Pavilion dv9500t earned a very good WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 73--the same score earned by Fujitsu's LifeBook E8410 with only 1GB of RAM. The Pavilion's average frame rate of 62 frames per second in our graphics tests was average for a desktop replacement but below the marks posted by some gaming notebooks. It should handle productivity tasks, disc burning, and DVD playing with aplomb. And battery life is not bad for the notebook's size, at 3.3 hours.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT es la sucesora directa DirectX 10 de la GeForce Go 7600 GT para portátiles. Dependiendo de la memoria grafica utilizada y la velocidad de frecuencia, el rendimiento está entre las tarjetas de video 7600 GT y 7900 GS. Por lo tanto, juegos actuales como Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, o F.E.A.R pueden ser jugados fluidamente con altos detalles en una resolución de 1024 o similar.  Jugadores, que cada vez esperan frame rates supremos, deberán esperar las serie 8800 de NVidia.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit",  SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep,  LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
