The R720 manages to do just that and, while it isn't the most powerful machine, those after a desktop replacement system at a good price will find plenty to like. While not as powerful as the Acer Aspire 5739G-654G32MN or Mesh Edge15 TT, the Samsung R720 is a solid desktop replacement system that will carry out most of the tasks asked of it without issue. It's also very comfortable, usable and well priced.

EN→ES Archive.org versionWe liked the look of the 17.3-inch Samsung R720 when it cropped up in Crave back in June, but that was a high-end model with a Blu-ray drive and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 GPU. The first model in the new range to arrive for review sits more towards the entry-level end of the spectrum, but, at around just £600, it still promises to be a decent desktop-replacement laptop. There's very little to fault with the Samsung R720. Attractive and packing decent components, it offers excellent value for a desktop-replacement laptop. Its 3D graphics performance is its only real weak spot, but it still offers enough oomph to keep casual gamers satisfied.

Perhaps most surprising was the 3D performance afforded by the Radeon HD 4330 graphics card. Yet again, though, we’re dismayed at Samsung’s decision to leave out 802.11n wireless, while some of the keys losing their texture so quickly was also a concern. However, at £599 it's very reasonably priced for a 17in laptop. If you can forgive its minor flaws, the Samsung R720 is a decent, albeit relatively low-powered, desktop replacement.

If you want a 17-inch laptop that offers decent performance and won't break the bank, Samsung's R720 comes highly recommended.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430: La ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430 es una tarjeta grafica dedicada de nivel de entrada adaptada a portátiles. De acuerdo a AMD la HD3430 es similar a la HD 3450, pero la HD3450 también soporta GDDR3.
El rendimiento de la HD3430 debería ser similar a la HD3450 con GDDR2 y por tanto solo suficiente para juegos 3D poco exigentes. Juegos antiguos como Half Life 2 son los únicos que deberían funcionar con nivel de detalle alto de forma fluida.
Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente. Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
