The Toshiba Excite 7$188.44 at Amazon would make a decent $99 tablet, but competitors at its $169 price point beat it easily. It doesn't have 720p screen resolution like the Hisense Sero 7 Pro, nor does it match the graphical power of the $129 Nook HD$99.99 at Best Buy or $149 Dell Venue 7$149.99 at Dell. While it isn't awful, it just can't keep up with the competitors in its price range—not to mention slightly more expensive, far more powerful tablets like the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7"$229.00 at Amazon and Google Nexus 7£129.99 at Amazon Marketplace.

Last year, the $169 Toshiba Excite 7 could have been an acceptable budget tablet, but competitors now offer better features for less money. The ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 has an HD screen, double the storage, and much better endurance, for $40 less. While we appreciate the Excite 7's stock Android experience, its respectable battery life and powerful audio, there are better budget tablet bargains to be had.
