The Acer Gemstone Blue series has one of the coolest designs we have seen in our office in quite a long time. The attention to detail is astounding, especially with the screen cover where you realize the color isn't a solid blue, but instead a smooth transition to a lighter color towards centered Acer logo. Even the screen hinges weren't overlooked, with the chrome accents and inner blue LED lighting when plugged in. While our review model lacked HDMI out and a Blu-ray drive, it still handled downloaded HD content (720P) and DVD movies just fine. The built-in subwoofer performed well, but covered up the anemic audio that the main drivers put out. For the going price of $899 this notebook configuration is a lukewarm deal, but if you find it on sale for $699 (which we have seen) it turns into a great deal for all that you get.

The Acer Aspire 6920G-6071 ($980 street) sits between a conventional 15.4-inch and a 17-inch media center laptop. Not only is the Acer Aspire 6920G-6071 the first to incorporate a 16-inch widescreen, it's also the first to bundle a Blu-ray drive for under $1,000.

Acer's new range of Gemstone computers is a little shinier than the previous models, and there's one major difference in screen size. While most notebooks come are either 15in or 17in widescreen models, the new Acers use 16in and 18in screens instead. The company says this is going to become more common but for now they're the first such products we've seen. The 6920, available through Comet, has a 16in screen and an Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 processor, which runs at 2GHz, along with a generous 3GB of memory. A good all-round computer with potential for gaming

Acer Aspire 6920G, as representative of new Gemstone Blue series, deserves all our praises. Attractive design and good performances are very nice combination. Because of its dimensions it is not likely that this model will be considered by users searching for mobility. On the other side users who seek notebook that can take role of home multimedia center will be more than satisfied with Acer Aspire 6920G.

NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS: El GPU de clase media que es al rededor de 10% más veloz que una GeForce 8600M GT de frecuencia similar. Por lo tanto, la tarjeta no brinda el rendimiento suficiente para detalles muy altos con efectos DirectX 10 de juegos exigentes como Crysis.

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
