Análisis para el Dell 14 Premium DA14250
Origen: CNN underscored

At $1,700 — the cheapest price you can get the Dell 14 Premium with an OLED display — this laptop costs slightly more than it should. That price is $101 more than Apple’s 14-inch MacBook Pro M4, and both laptops pack 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a great screen. The MacBook Pro, however, boasts better battery life and a much better design with regular function row keys and a traditional touchpad. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x also packs a high-res OLED screen, and the same amount of memory and storage, and it’s $400 less (you can currently get one for $1,300 at Best Buy.) That laptop does carry the quirks of an Arm-based processor, which include lackluster support for legacy devices, as well as only running beta versions of some Adobe applications. It’s the best Windows laptop, but it’s still not without caveats.

The Dell 14 Premium is finally here, and it successfully carries on the Dell XPS heritage it inherits, for better and worse. Performance-wise, it beats out the MacBook Pro 14-inch overall, though video and photography professionals likely won't be impressed enough to make the switch. It's decently priced for a premium laptop, but as its name suggests, it might be too rich for some people who just need a more basic Windows laptop.

The transition from the XPS 14 to the Dell 14 Premium is largely about branding: there are very few changes from the older model, so the XPS 14 might be a better choice if you can find a refurbished model on sale. However, the Dell 14 Premium is a worthy successor to the XPS, retaining all the things we loved about it. It strikes an excellent balance of power, portability, and general computing perfection.

Even with a new and rather uninspired name, it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that the Dell 14 Premium remains one of the best Windows laptops on the market. It has the same sleek design from back when it was still called the XPS 14 but with some refreshed specs and components for 2025. Its chassis strikes a brilliant balance between modern minimalism and usability, while upgrades like its OLED display and discrete graphics give you the ability to build out a versatile but still very portable device. Now I admit that our fully loaded review unit is a bit pricey with a retail price of $2,450, though I'd be remiss to mention that Dell is currently running a sale that knocks $200 off that cost.

The Dell 14 Premium is an excellent laptop. It's expensive, but for the $1,500 price range, it has a lot to offer — especially if you're only interested in a Windows machine. Beyond performance, the laptop has a nice-feeling keyboard, a sleek-and-stylish design, and the potential for solid GPU performance and a stunning OLED display, if you're willing to pay a little more.

What we have here are aesthetics-focused notebooks with reasonable performance but limited upgradeability, which is common for laptops in this weight class. The user experience with both machines is promising, thanks to gorgeous displays, great sound systems, stylish designs, and Intel's Arrow Lake CPU platform. It's only once you start to dig in with these machines that you may start to encounter some frustrations. First and foremost on our list are the capacitive function buttons, which are a divisive design choice. If a user is accustomed to standard markings and tactility for the trackpad area, they might find Dell's invisible trackpad frustrating, too. Neither of these issues ruin the value proposition of these laptops, but they may be frustrating for some.

The Dell 14 Premium lives up to its name as an aesthetic laptop that's committed to its future-forward design. This isn't a laptop that's made for everyone, and that's fine. Dell has successfully improved on elements of its design that don't compromise its vision with the expanded port selection and balance of hardware and cost. As the highest-performing laptop in Dell's base tier of laptops, it's a premium, but accessible, machine that's well-suited toward professionals who need a balanced approach to performance. The luxe physical design makes a statement and is a joy to use, but users will need to be mindful of the hardware's power demands and heat generation.

The new Dell 16 Premium and Dell 14 Premium have a couple of key differences from last year. The most obvious and main difference is that they are no longer called XPS. The other differences come with configuration and performance. These new machines are now running Intel’s latest Arrow Lake processors and NVIDIA’s latest dedicated GPUs. Arrow and Lunar Lake processors have proven to be much better on battery life with the new CPU/GPU/NPU integration, and that continues to be the case here. Normally, I might advise folks to save some money and purchase last year’s models discounted. But with the new performance boosts, you can’t go wrong with buying the Dell 16 Premium or the 14 now. Dell is already running specials to get the ball rolling on these new devices. Yes, you might miss the XPS name, but you’re essentially getting everything but the name here.

The Dell 14 Premium isn’t a large laptop, but its focus is less on portability than on a premium look and feel and strong performance. That comes at the cost of increased weight and disappointing battery life. If you’re looking for a grab-and-go laptop for daily meetings around town or cross-country flights, though, this isn’t the laptop for you. But shoppers who want a 14-inch Windows laptop that can handle many tasks well, with fast connectivity and a great OLED display, will like the 14 Premium.
