But when Dell informed me about sending the new 17-inch XPS for review, I got excited. Dell’s decision to revive the 17-inch XPS seems fairly self-explanatory: the market for premium 17-inch notebooks is there, and laptop makers need to look at this space more seriously than ever.

EN→ESThere are so many things to say about the XPS 17 of 2021. First of all, before we start talking about the performance, we want to remind you that we are talking about a laptop that is only 13.2mm at its thickest. And in order to cool the Core i9-11900H and RTX 3060 we had inside of it, Dell needed to think outside the box. Well, it’s not to say that they were super innovative with their solution, as we’ve seen it implemented on Razer and Lenovo laptops before. However, the vapor chamber was the way to go. Now, you can’t expect everything to be great at this thickness, right? So, in addition to being hard to cool down, this laptop lacks some essential ports. Although there are four Thunderbolt 4 connectors, as well as an SD card slot, there are no USB Type-A ports, whatsoever. Unlike Apple, however, Dell gets you covered with a little dongle inside the box. Yes, it only splits one of the Thunderbolt ports to USB Type-A + HDMI, but it is something, right? At the end of the day, the XPS 17 9710 is a super niche product that isn’t for everybody.

EN→ESI used the Dell XPS 17 9730 for a couple weeks for work as well as for play. In particular, I wrote this review on it. I was able to play some demanding games like Battlefield 2042 on it, though with some adjustment to the settings, and spent some time streaming on it as well. After spending time with the Dell XPS 17 9730, I was impressed by the fact that its power is more on par with a gaming computer than with its Ultrabook competition. I’ve spent the last few years reviewing tech gear for gaming and otherwise, where I’ve gotten a feel for what to look for and how to put a piece of kit through its paces to see whether it’s worth the recommendation.

Priced at a hefty Rs. 364,289, it certainly isn't a bang-for-your-buck device, but then do you really expect a laptop priced at more than Rs. 3.5 lakh to be? For that price, you get a top-of-the-line 13th Gen i9 chip, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, which will fulfill all your tasks and then some. It also sports a 17-inch 4K display that is gorgeous to look at but it is stuck at 60Hz. While the laptop gets all the top-of-the-line specs, it is quite massive and even bulky, which can be a deal-breaker for some.

Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10750H:
Un procesador hexa-core de alto rendimiento diseñado para los portátiles más gruesos con espacio para una mejor termicidad. El procesador Comet Lake-H está fabricado en el proceso Intel de tercera generación de 14 nm y cuenta con la iGPU UHD Graphics 630 con una velocidad de reloj de 350 MHz a 1.150 MHz. Los núcleos de la CPU funcionan a 2,6 GHz (velocidad de reloj base) con Boost hasta 5 GHz y la frecuencia probable de Boost de todos los núcleos es de 4,3 GHz.
