El Surface Pro 7 es una magnífica alternativa al portátil tradicional que, gracias a su condición de convertible 2 en 1, aporta una gran versatilidad. A su vez es un dispositivo elegante, bien construido y muy portable. Quizás una de las principales pegas que se le puede achacar es su precio, sin duda no es un terminal barato, pero siempre dependerá de la configuración que elija cada individuo según sus necesidades. Si se opta por las especificaciones más avanzadas podemos llegar a una factura de 2.500 euros. A esto se le debe sumar al menos el teclado, parte fundamental de la experiencia surface (150-170 euros) y también podemos incluir el lápiz inteligente (otros 110 euros). En resumidas cuentas, se trata de una máquina muy capaz que convencerá a todos aquellos que esten dispuestos a pagar el precio que marca su etiqueta.

But if you're working with something older, or this type of device would make your working-at-home experience better, it's still one of the best 2-in-1s available. There hasn't been much worthy competition in the time since release, though the coming Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable has our attention. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is better all around as a laptop, if that's your primary concern, but the Surface Pro sets the bar for 2-in-1s in the Windows-tablet mode.

Spending a few weeks with the Surface Pro

When it was time to pack the Surface Pro up and send it back I felt a twang of sadness. I’m used to using devices for a short while and returning them, but it isn’t often that I get attached. This time I did. I could easily see myself using the Surface Pro as my “work” device. While it is a tablet, it honestly felt just as good as a laptop and offered slightly more with its ability to turn into a notebook when I needed it for meetings or broadcast work. Its versatile and I think could easily look at it as a possible replacement for my MacBook with my desktop being my go to if needed for my heavy video editing.

The Surface Pro 7 thus serves a shrinking niche. It's still a great portable computer, but it isn't for everyone.
