There's a lot to like with the Xiaomi 13, which looks great and is powered by a battery that you'll struggle to drain. U.K. users looking for top performance will want to turn to the Galaxy S23 and its optimized Snapdragon silicon, though.

Personally, I liked the Xiaomi 13 first and foremost for its design – among the sometimes overly sleek competitors, such a heavy brick with barely smoothed edges looks even a little provocative, as far as it goes in such a standardised field as smartphone design. A high-quality AMOLED display, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and high-quality cameras create a win-win set of almost perfect flagships. Yes, it falls a little short of the top-end in a couple of aspects, while still priced comparably to its main direct competitors. Although this time the software problem has been solved (hopefully definitively), so I personally don’t see a good reason why not to choose Xiaomi anymore. This flagship might make you take a fresh look at the situation in the top-end market. To sum up, it can be said that thirteen was not unlucky at all. Xiaomi 13 turned out to be quite a nice phone - small, powerful, with a decent and well-charging battery, with decent cameras, good speakers, a better display. The question remains - with what good price? Xiaomi 13 price list can be praised for being uncomplicated - the basic model is available in one variant, with 8+256 GB memory, and we will pay EUR 999.99 for it. So... you can say it's OK. It was already cheap, smartphones are getting more expensive at the moment, so if you are looking for a relatively compact flagship devoid of obvious shortcomings, you can consider Xiaomi 13. I certainly do not advise you against buying this phone, although I would suggest that you consider Xiaomi 12 Pro or Xiaomi 12T Pro. They will be cheaper, and it seems to me that they are not that much weaker than this model. Of course, this one is newer, it has a bit more goodies. The question is whether this fairy tale is worth paying extra for. You'll have to consider that yourself.

The Xiaomi 13 is a commendable step up from the Xiaomi 12 before it. With the addition of a much improved design, IP68 certification and a dedicated telephoto camera, it has addressed several of the major issues we had with that (still very good) phone. Its compact yet classy design and bright, vibrant display are an absolute joy to behold, especially for those who aren’t enamoured with the steady supersizing of smartphones. Performance, meanwhile, is every bit as strong as many bigger, uglier Android flagships. While the Xiaomi 13 doesn’t have the top level camera set-up of its Pro brother, it’s still a very capable shooter in most situations. And while battery life isn’t the absolute best, it should still see you through the day without fuss. Speedy wired and wireless charging helps here. Xiaomi’s fussy software does continue to hold it back somewhat, however. If there’s one area the company needs to address with some urgency, it’s this. While they’re at it, Xiaomi would do well to match the checkout options of its key rivals, too. Offering just the one colour and storage option here in the UK is a mistake that Apple and Samsung just wouldn’t make. Even with those caveats in place, the Xiaomi 13 gets tantalisingly close to the holy grail of being a compromise-free compact flagship smartphone. In most of the ways that count, this is a genuine rival to the Samsung Galaxy S23, and a viable alternative to the disappointing iPhone 14.

I lived with the Xiaomi 13 as my primary device for around a week, using it for productivity purposes during my working day and for social media browsing and gaming in the evenings. As a football fan, I’ve grown used to the way FIFA Mobile plays on a few different devices, which helped me to quantify just how impressive the Xiaomi 13’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is from a power perspective. I also used the phone to stream color-rich documentaries via YouTube and Netflix, and also logged into Twitter to assess the social media browsing experience. I used the recently released Geekbench 6 for CPU testing (the Xiaomi 13 landed a single-core average score of 1999 and a multi-core score of 5126) and Geekbench ML for machine learning and AI benchmarking (the phone earned an average score of 661). It’s also worth noting that I ran benchmarks with the phone in Performance mode, though it uses Balanced mode as standard, out of the box. Battery life was assessed based on real-world usage, and I measured charge time in 15-minute intervals.

The Xiaomi 13 battery achieved a very good global score, much better than its predecessor the Xiaomi 12. This was mainly due to decent autonomy, which lasted a good 53 hours and 50 minutes when used moderately. The device showed good performances when streaming videos and when used on-the-go, but the autonomy was quite poor when listening to music. The charging experience was very strong for both wired and wireless chargers. Both charging methods were very fast, with the wired one taking less than 47 minutes, and the wireless 56 minutes to fully charge the battery. Moreover, a quick 5-minute charge provided an autonomy of 5 hours and 28 minutes on average, which was better than our database average. The wired and wireless charge efficiencies were good, but the residual power drain when the device was fully charged and still on the wireless stand was high. Discharge currents were all below average, especially when streaming videos, except when calling and streaming music, meaning that the device is well-optimized. When compared with devices from the Premium segment, the Xiaomi 13 ranks in third place in database. It showed good autonomy (especially on the go, where is achieved a top score for the segment), excellent efficiency and a good charging experience.

With its Leica-infused camera, slick design and standout screen, the Xiaomi 13 is a very good Android phone. There is strong competition from the Samsung Galaxy S23 (£899) and OnePlus 11 (£799) but the Xiaomi 13 offers up a viable alternative. I much prefer the design and general usability of the OnePlus 11, for instance, while it can match most of what the S23 offers at a cheaper price. There are areas Xiaomi could improve on to make this a true standout device. A simple, more focused UI would make a big difference, especially for me.

Reviewing the Xiaomi 13, one of the best compact(ish) phones in 2023 and hot Samsung Galaxy S23 rival. That camera tech isn't as hot at night as the Pro, but the Xiaomi 13 boasts the same excellent performance for gaming and feature-packed MiUI software. It's not as cheap as the OnePlus 11 or Realme GT3 but it's certainly a solid flagship which makes only a few small compromises. I actually found the Xiaomi 13's camera to be better in low light than the Samsung S23, although it's still no Pro. Gamers will love that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, plus the MiUI 14 gaming mode - ideal for Genshin Impact action. Battery life is also good, although the Pro and Galaxy S23 are slightly on top here. That AMOLED screen may lack LTPO smarts, but movie fans should adore the crisp, sharp-contrast visuals. Those Xiaomi 13 stereo speakers pack a punch too, while there's buckets of storage. So that's what I think of the Xiaomi 13 vs the Samsung S23 and Pro after a week of testing. Are you tempted?

With a DXOMARK Audio score of 134, Xiaomi 13 performed very well in our tests, making the device a great option for audio-focused smartphone users. In playback, it delivered the best results when gaming and watching movies, but it did not disappoint in the music use case either. The built-in speakers offered a rich and pleasant sound signature, but the stereo balance was somewhat off-centered, which also restricted the wideness of the projected sound scene among other impediments. In recording, the Xiaomi 13 provided excellent results across all use cases, offering good tonal balance, dynamics and spatial performance. Although heavy compression was noticeable when recording loud sources such as concerts, it didn’t affect quality too much. Additionally, the recording experience could have been enhanced further with an audio zoom feature and an improved handling of wind noise.

The Xiaomi 13’s display performance was overall very good, with a very strong showing in color, which had a pleasant saturation. While the screen was not easily readable in sunlight, the device’s readability proved to be very good in low light because of good brightness levels in such conditions. Our engineers were eager to put the Xiaomi 13’s advertised 1900 nit peak brightness to the test, but the peak brightness level measured 1640 nits. In video, both contrast and colors were well-managed on the device, particularly when watching HDR10 video content. The screen was also prone to frame mismatches when viewing videos. The screen executed some ghost touches when trying to navigate it with a single hand. By default, the Xiaomi 13 has a low flicker frequency, which could make viewing the screen for a long time in low light uncomfortable for some people. However, a flicker-free option is available in the settings, and could improve flicker performance. This was not part of our tests, which covers the default mode.

With a DXOMARK Camera score of 130, the Xiaomi 13 delivered a good performance, thanks to a triple camera configuration that allows for good quality photo and video capture in pretty much all kinds of conditions. While the device wasn’t near the top of our ranking, the Xiaomi 13 camera still performed well within its price segment. In our testing, the Xiaomi 13’s main strengths in photo mode were its ability to deliver a fairly neutral white balance and nice color across a variety of conditions, including low light. Overall exposure was fairly accurate, but in high-contrast scenes, a lack of dynamic range could result in shadow and/or highlight clipping. The camera also managed to maintain a good tradeoff between image detail and noise reduction, but our testers observed some unwanted artifacts, for example, halo effects and ghosting, especially in scenes where HDR processing kicked in. Autofocus was generally accurate but slow. We also noticed that in group shots the camera did not always focus on the subject closest to the camera. The Xiaomi 13 did fairly well for both ultra-wide and tele zoom. Zoom images showed good exposure, but compared to the 13 Pro with its more powerful imaging hardware and larger sensors, detail was generally lower and noise levels were higher. In video mode, our testers found exposure to be accurate and video clips showed good texture rendering in most conditions. In addition, Xiaomi 13 videos were pretty much free of unwanted artifacts. However, we also observed some exposure instabilities, white balance casts, and autofocus instabilities in indoor light conditions and low light. These shortcomings prevented the device from achieving a video score closer to the best in class.

So, in conclusion – the Xiaomi 13 I’ll say is a weird phone overall. There are some things are done very well, some are not. For example, the phone’s design and the shape of it makes it so nice to hold but the camera certainly needs a bit more tweaking to make it better. MIUI 14 to me is a tiny incremental upgrade because they did remove one of the annoying features. The performance is amazing but the battery life is not as good as I’d expect when compared with another small flagship smartphone. But, if you want a small phone, the next competitor is the Samsung Galaxy S23 (review here). It’s smaller than the Xiaomi 13 and has a similar battery life. The S23’s cameras are also fantastic even without collaborations with any camera makers. I’ll update this post when I have the official retail price – so check back later.

All things considered, the Xiaomi 13 is everything we expected it to be and more. The design refresh is a welcome change, at least for us. Perhaps Xiaomi wanted to draw a more distinct line between the non-Pro and Pro variants, thus the different design. So we expect the non-Pro and the line variants to look similar and the Pro variant and that leaked Ultra variant to look the same. Hardware-wise, there’s nothing to complain about. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 gave it excellent marks in our benchmark tests. Battery is on the average side but it has all sorts charging tech that makes up for it. The camera, well, you be the judge. We certainly liked it — performs great in most scenarios, including low-light and night shots with tons of features added to give you that Leica feel. All that in Xiaomi’s usual price point that’s not too heavy on the wallet. the Xiaomi 13 will start at €999.

While the Galaxy S23 does things better than the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi’s latest compact flagship does give Samsung’s own offering a good run for its money. We may not be a fan of MIUI 14 and its overall design, but the Xiaomi 13 is definitely competitive with the Galaxy S23 when it comes to camera performance. n Europe, the Xiaomi 13 starts at 999 Euros for the 8GB/256GB variant, which translates to around Php 58k when converted. European pricing is usually higher, so there’s still a chance that the Xiaomi 13 will have a much lower official price in Asian countries like the Philippines.

The Xiaomi 13 is a very well-rounded flagship offer. Xiaomi seems to have taken plenty of notes coming from the previous generation Xiaomi 12. The 13 is a very sturdy and well-made device, now with the important addition of IP68 ingress protection. It has a slightly bigger display than its predecessor and one that really impresses both in terms of brightness and color reproduction. It also has superb HDR support for all four major standards. The Xiaomi 13 also has a great stereo speaker setup and gets to enjoy the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Qualcomm's best chip to date has been hugely beneficial to the Xiaomi 13. It delivers excellent, chart-topping all around performance, and amazing efficiency, which has pushed battery life to a whole new level this generation. The camera setup is also much improved, particularly by including a dedicated telephoto snapper. We found the quality to be excellent all-around while testing the Xiaomi 13. All things considered, the Xiaomi 13 is a really compelling, feature-rich package. There is very little compromise to speak of here beyond some nitpicks like the lack of Xiaomi's 120W charging, Gorilla Glass Victus and [email protected] video capture. Xiaomi has a great product on its hands. One that we can recommend without any hesitation.

Xiaomi’s mainstream hero has never felt further apart from its Pro big brother, and yet still manages to impress in almost all areas. The Xiaomi 13 is a powerful and relatively long-lasting handset with a stunning screen, which can take a great photo from its main camera. The secondary snappers aren’t quite as impressive, though put in a decent enough shift given the price – which is pound and penny in line with the Galaxy S23. Samsung’s software is arguably more mature, but you’re getting a bigger screen and faster charging here. Just as the S23 is eclipsed by the S23 Ultra, the Xiaomi 13 can’t escape its sibling’s shadow. If you take your photography seriously, the 13 Pro is the one to go for – and if your budget won’t stretch that far, a Pixel 7 Pro is still a good shout. But everyone else should think very hard over whether there’s anything to gain by picking the Samsung over one of these. Which given Xiaomi’s UK market share, has to be considered a big win. A capable all-rounder that takes a solid snap with its main camera. It won’t wow you like the more expensive 13 Pro, but should please all but the most demanding phone photographers.

Unboxing the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, two 2023 global smartphones boasting dependable camera setups, impressive gaming grunt and solid battery tech. My review of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is coming imminently but here's a tour of the features and what's been upgraded vs the regular model. Like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, that premium version offers a curvy design, improved camera hardware and several other updates. The Xiaomi 13 Pro serves up the same Sony IMX989 sensor as Vivo's X90 Pro, for some of the best night shots of any 2023 smartphone. In comparison, the Xiaomi 13 phone offers an IMX800 camera sensor that's still impressive in low light, but not quite as incredible. Both Xiaomi phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, so gaming on Genshin Impact and other demanding Android titles is a smooth, satisfying experience. The Xiaomi 13 Pro doesn't heat up as much as the regular model, but neither struggled even after an hour or more of gaming. Battery life is also excellent on both phones, although that Pro once again has the advantage of faster 120W vs 67W charging. So are you tempted more by the Xiaomi 13 or the 13 Pro? Let us know below, reviews coming soon!

With its Leica-infused camera, slick design and standout screen, the Xiaomi 13 feels like a no-sacrifice Android phone for a very tempting £849 price. There is, of course, strong competition from the Samsung Galaxy S23 (£899) and OnePlus 11 (£729) but if the Xiaomi 13 continues to impress me then there’s every chance this could be one of the best Android phones of the year – especially for those who don’t want a huge phone with heavily curved sides.

If you prefer a more compact phone, but don't want to sacrifice performance or features, then the Xiaomi 13 is one of the best options available today. There are smaller phones, sure, but they can't match the horsepower on offer here, and few can match the photographic chops, either. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Xiaomi 13, the only thing we aren't so keen on is MIUI 14. It's not a bad OS, it's just very different to what we're used to, and some of the design choices are puzzling. It's nothing that can't be overcome with a little learning and tweaking, though. If you can do without the professional camera setup offered by its larger sibling, we think you'll be delighted with this petite performer.

On the hardware front, the Xiaomi 13 is pretty solid. It’s extremely well built, and more durable than the previous generation. The main camera produces clear, crisp shots, even in darker conditions, and we can’t ignore its impressive performance. However, the price jump from the previous generation puts it head-to-head with some of the leading smartphones of this past year, and sadly it doesn’t quite measure up to the iPhone 14 or the Google Pixel 7 Pro, especially with the bloated and confusing MIUI software. If you’re dead set on buying a Xiaomi, then the 13 Pro offers a more impressive camera and better specs. Otherwise, there are better alternatives on the market for this price.

At first glance, the Xiaomi 13 looks to have improved upon its predecessor in several areas. The phone’s straight-edged design is sleek, its display is exceptionally bright and the Snapdragon chipset means the Xiaomi 13 more than keeps pace with premium rivals. The Leica-branded camera setup looks exciting, though it may not be the groundbreaking innovation we’d hoped for.

So, is the Xiaomi 13 an everyday flagship that makes the Samsung Galaxy S23 sweat? Absolutely. It’s neck and neck between the two, and it comes down to personal taste. Because on technical and aesthetic terms, this is a banger: the screen is gorgeous, it’s wicked fast, looks great, charges quickly (and wirelessly), and has a nice camera system, too. Not to say it's perfect — MIUI is still a little busy with bloatware and I would have liked to see a slightly better battery life. But for most users, these issues can be overlooked in what is a fantastic Android flagship, and (being honest) the one you should buy between this and the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Yeah, I said it!

Xiaomi 13 has everything you would expect from a power-packed phone in a compact design. It has a beautiful and smooth OLED display for everyday use and a flagship chipset to power the phone. You won’t have any issues in the performance department, it can handle anything you throw at it. The main camera takes good photos in different lighting conditions and the lightweight design makes sure that you don’t feel like carrying anything bulky in hand. I wish the battery backup was a bit more but considering the size of the phone, it’s pretty good. The 67W fast charging is awesome and chargers the phone quickly. All in all, the Xiaomi 13 shines in every aspect and is a perfectly balanced phone for Android enthusiasts.

The Xiaomi 13 smartphone is a great update from the Xiaomi 12 phone, as it offers an improved camera setup and enhanced processing power support. Both of them put this phone far ahead of the competition, and it becomes one of the best smartphones that you should consider purchasing right now. But at the same time, if you are not planning to purchase a phone, we would suggest you wait for a few months to check out other alternative options. But for now, there’s hardly any phone that can give tough competition to this lineup. If you’re in search of a gaming-centric phone, you should go with the Asus ROG Phone 6 is a fabulous pick. But on the other hand, a perfect alternative would be the Realme GT2 Explorer Master since it brings almost the same attributes.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro mostly delivers in areas where you expect it to for a flagship-grade handset. However, it does have its fair share of flaws – even if none are severe enough to be game-breaking. MIUI continues to have its quirks, the camera app is messy, and its slow camera shutter can cause users to miss moments. Fortunately, these are issues that can be easily solved via software updates. That said, for S$1,599, we'd expect the phone to come in a more polished state. Furthermore, consider also how most other S$1,500+ phones have a combination of services, a robust smart device ecosystem, or on-chip security to justify their asking prices. In its current form, there's a slight suspicion that Xiaomi wants to ride on Leica's coattails to drive up the Xiaomi 13 Pro's asking price. That won't help non-Xiaomi users switch to this phone, especially when the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the current premium alternative that starts from just S$230 more than what Xiaomi is asking for. Does that mean we don't like Xiaomi 13 Pro? No, quite the opposite. Overall, this is a rather handsome phone with a nice large display, top-tier performance, and a decent camera system. Though we are not 100% sold on the Leica partnership, there's no denying that it makes for a fun photo-taking experience, and the end results are often very pleasing.

Ok, I think I have discussed everything about this phone by now! And I really like what Xiaomi has done here! It is easily the most improved flagship of 2023 and the best thing is that it’s priced quite aggressively in South Asian markets like Nepal and India. However, if budget is not a constraint, then Galaxy S23+ is a better overall phone as it comes with a better design, and you get a better software experience, a better front camera, and better videos too! But overall, I am happy to see Xiaomi making a good flagship phone, FINALLY! And hopefully, they keep on improving it with software updates. Given its top-quality hardware, the cameras can definitely get better, thermals could improve, and MIUI can get better as well. Xiaomi 13 Pro is easily the most improved flagship of 2023. It comes with an excellent set of Leica-optimised cameras, a flagship-grade AMOLED display, and top-tier performance. It does have a few shortcomings here and there, but the Xiaomi 13 Pro is still an excellent flagship phone!

The Xiaomi 13 Pro continues the promising work from 2022’s Xiaomi 12 Pro, addressing our main criticisms and improving in key areas. Silly faults like the lack an IP68 rating, a limited telephoto camera, and a relatively tiny battery have all been corrected. Meanwhile, the 13 Pro’s Leica-branded 1-inch main camera is a big step forward, especially in lesser lighting conditions. Performance is strong and battery life is far more respectable than before, even if it’s not among the very best of the early 2023 crowd. It helps that Xiaomi’s charging provision – 120W wired, 50W wireless – is so strong, too. All of which makes it more of a shame that Xiaomi has taken a backward step with the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s bland, unwieldy design. Especially when, in the Xiaomi 13, it already had a natural way forward for the range. MIUI 14, meanwhile, continues to be a less than ideal interface with too much bloatware. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is another excellent flagship phone from the brand. With a more focused design and a proper software overhaul, it would be in contention for the big awards come the end of 2023. Even as things stand, it’s more than capable of keeping the Samsungs and Apples of this world honest.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is quite a Leica-ble phone (pun intended). While it features top-of-the-line hardware, it is the little details that help enhance the overall user experience. Be it the shutter sound, number of useful camera filters, or the bunch of software features in the Gallery app. The camera system is also quite versatile and offers a variety of focal lengths to capture moments with unique perspectives for the shutter bug in you. Xiaomi's flagship phone is also well tuned. With refinements to MIUI, coupled with a powerful performance unit, the Xiaomi 13 Pro offers a great combination of hardware and software. It also provides good battery life and the 120W fast charging adds to the experience. While there is no official IP68 rating in India, the phone is claimed to offer the same level of water and dust protection as its global counterpart. I still wish that the software support, in terms of Android updates, was a year more just like Samsung's and OnePlus' flagships. The OnePlus 11 5G is more affordable compared to the Xiaomi 13 Pro and has its own Hasselblad touch for the cameras, while matching the Xiaomi 13 Pro's performance unit. However, with the number of useful camera features, I find the Xiaomi 13 Pro's setup a bit more fun to use. You also get wireless charging, reverse wireless charging and a ceramic back panel. The closest rival to the Xiaomi 13 Pro would be the upcoming Vivo X90 Pro. It packs the same 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor and comes with Zeiss' tuning for the cameras. For now, if you are someone who wants a reliable camera system in a flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 13 Pro can certainly be considered.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro battery performance ranked in the top half of our database. The autonomy was average with slightly more than 2.5 days when used moderately. The autonomy during our typical usage scenario was just below average, with a huge battery power consumption during night (4% lost) when the device is supposed to do nothing. But when testing outdoors and in calibrated mode, the autonomy performances were quite good and above average for most use cases, except when streaming music. The main advantage of the Xiaomi 13 Pro was its charging experience. The 120W wired charger replenished the battery in only 31 minutes, and a 5-minute quick charge provided an excellent 9 hours and 51 minutes of autonomy on average. The wireless 50W charger refilled the battery in slightly more than 1 hour, which was among the best wireless times we have measured. Both wired and wireless charge efficiencies were good. The residual consumption of the wired charger when the device was fully charged and still plugged in was low, but it was high for wireless stand. The discharge currents were good when streaming videos, gaming and using the device outdoors, but only slightly above average for the other use cases, meaning that the device is not perfectly optimized. Compared with devices from the Ultra-Premium range prices ($800+), the Xiaomi 13 Pro ranked among the best devices, just above the Xiaomi 12T Pro. The autonomy was above average, and the efficiency was very good. The charging experience was excellent, placing it in first place in this segment for this sub-score.

Xiaomi 13 Pro review: It packs in flagship-level hardware. Still, will that be enough for it to make its presence felt as a "photographer's phone" in a market where users already have the likes of the iPhone, the Galaxy S series, and the Pixel series?

Xiaomi's latest Pro model is a fine device, combining fantastic performance with an exceptional camera, great battery life and a stunning display. In fact, we liked all of it so much we were happy to put up with our frustrations with the software in order to take advantage of its capabilities. The price point isn't exactly cheap, and that's certainly something to consider with the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Our initial knee-jerk response was that it's too expensive, but when you look at the feature set, the hardware and the performance it offers, and realise it's going up against the Galaxy S23 Ultras and iPhone 14 Pro Max's of the world, you get a bit of a different perspective. Compared to Samsung and Apple's top dollar phones, it's not terribly priced at all. For some, the MIUI hurdle will be too great, but if you're happy to sit and tame the phone, you're left with something of a diamond from Xiaomi which exceeded our expectations from the brand, and that sets the tone going forward. It's a truly wonderful device and one that delivers in buckets.

In our DXOMARK Audio tests, the Xiaomi 13 Pro did well, performing reliably across all playback and recording use cases. It offered a pleasant listening experience via the built-in speakers, making it an excellent option for music consumption and gaming, as well as movie watching. This said, limited wideness of the projected sound scene meant the stereo experience was not as immersive as with some of its rivals. Good to great performances across pretty much all test attributes make the Xiaomi a great pick for sound recording, but potential users should keep in mind that, due to compression and distortion, it’s not very suitable for recording at high sound pressure levels, for example, concerts and other loud events. Wind noise could also be an issue, but other than that, the Xiaomi 13 Pro audio recordings offered great quality.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro’s flicker-free display provided an overall satisfying experience and finds itself in the upper portion of our database, with a very strong showing in color. Brightness adaptation was good in most conditions except indoors, where brightness was lower than its competitors. Screen readability diminished when the device was used under sunlight as details were lost, especially in dark areas. In addition, our engineers were eager to put Xiaomi 13 Pro’s advertised 1900 nit peak brightness to the test, but their measurements reached 1670 nits of peak brightness. Both contrast and colors were well-managed on the device, particularly when watching HDR10 video content. But brightness adaptation to HDR10 content was low, compared with the adaptation of other devices, which feature 10 nits to 15 nits of more brightness. Xiaomi 13 Pro users might need to calibrate the brightness to get a more satisfying HDR10 rendering. In other areas, the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s brightness and contrast levels were little changed from its predecessor, the Xiaomi 12 Pro. When it comes to the video game experience, the device showed no frame mismatches, but ghost touches were frequent.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro takes what made the 12 Pro so great and makes it even better. But that doesn’t mean you should buy one. Performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is absolutely fantastic, with its improved power efficiency and a larger battery delivering significant battery life improvements. New Leica cameras are close to the best you’ll find on any phone, with great results across all four lenses. But a huge new camera bump interrupts an otherwise sleek design, while the software experience remains a major source of frustration. At this flagship price point, those shortcomings are hard to ignore. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a great phone, but it’s not best-in-class.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is an expensive phone, but it’s really one of the first from the brand that I can wholeheartedly recommend to buy, with only a few small advisories. The camera is the standout feature. It’s really superb, and even a few weeks into using it, I still want to experiment with it more. I consider that a very good sign. It has a long-lasting battery, the latest processor for plenty of performance, and a big, high-res screen. It’s the software that’s the question mark for me. It’s a more user-friendly, less frustrating, more fluid and logical experience on the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Google Pixel 7 Pro, and the update commitment is longer on the Galaxy too. The OnePlus 11 is in-between, providing a similar user experience, but a longer commitment. In a way, the good thing is whichever you choose from these three, you’ll get a brilliant smartphone that will last for three years at the minimum — and it’s exciting as the Xiaomi 13 Pro competes with the best phones available.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a top-level flagship with specs and features to match, including a gorgeous 6.78-inch display with a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, a stylish (if not a bit fingerprint-y) design, rapid performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and lightning-fast 120W charging. But, of course, it’s the cameras that are the main attraction. The 50MP main makes use of the large 1-inch sensor in different ways to Vivo, and while that means it’s not quite as capable in very dark conditions, general low-light photography is much faster to capture. Plus, the 50MP telephoto lens captures stunning portrait and macro photography, and the 50MP ultra-wide, while not quite as capable, still generates great shots. The only real hurdle for many will be Xiaomi’s implementation of Android 13 with its MIUI 14 skin. It’s very different from most other Android skins and requires a bit of a learning curve, especially with elements like the split notification shade and quick setting panel, and the fact it comes pre-installed with a bunch of apps is frustrating. That all said, once you get over the various quirks, it’s not as bad as it once was.

What’s in a name, one might ask. Quite a lot, Xiaomi knows. And that’s why it has teamed up with Leica, one of the most iconic camera brands in the world, for its latest Xiaomi 13 Pro. Centred around the camera system co-engineered with Leica, Xiaomi hopes the Leica tag on its new flagship will be enough to justify the Rs 79,999 price point, one of the highest ever for a Xiaomi phone. But is that enough? Here’s my review after using the device for nearly two weeks.

If you're not convinced about the price, Xiaomi is offering bank offers on the Xiaomi 13 Pro for a limited period. Otherwise, if you want a more affordable, reliable smartphone with the same chipset, the new OnePlus 11 5G remains a flagship killer with a praiseworthy camera system. If a good Android experience is your priority, then nothing beats Google Pixel 7. And if you're a true Xiaomi fan, then the Xiaomi 12 Pro is still one of the best premium phones in India that occasionally gets huge discounts.

Xiaomi really has upped its camera game over the years and the 13 Pro is at the pinnacle of its optical prowess. The phone’s wide array of shooting modes, features and camera tricks will be a joy for consumers looking to experiment with their photography. I do feel that the selfie camera on the device is not the best. There’s also a fair bit of heating on the back panel when the smartphone is pushed in terms of its processing chops. However, that does not dampen the 13 Pro’s experience one bit, whether it’s heavy-duty gaming or watching Dolby Vision content on Netflix. The device really does outclass comparative smartphones in its price range and I can fully recommend the Xiaomi 13 Pro as your go-to flagship choice.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is, without a doubt, a true flagship. It’s a great smartphone in many ways, though it’s not perfect. The camera performance still needs tweaking on the software side of things, while MIUI 14 will need another update or two to squash a couple of bugs. Other than that, this phone is outstanding. The display is bright, vivid, and quite responsive. The design is great, the phone not only looks premium, but it feels great in the hand. It offers really good battery life with blazing fast wired and wireless charging, and more. It really doesn’t miss in a lot of ways, and it will certainly be appealing to many people.

We already said it about the Xiaomi 13 and we’re going to say the same about the Xiaomi 13 Pro. They’re both packed with the latest hardware and performed very well. Each one has their own kind of charm that would certainly appeal to different kinds of users. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is more commanding and bold — nice design, remarkable performance, great battery life, impressive camera system with Leica technology. What else is there to complain about? The Xiaomi 13 Pro ticks all the boxes for a solid flagship.

After a week with the Xiaomi 13 Pro I'm totally sold. Its camera system is so adept that it's arguably the best you'll find in any Android phone right now. And with stacks of power and super-fast charging, it'll give the Samsung Galaxy S23 series a run for its money. Sure, there are software foibles to suffer and the ceramic finish loves fingerprint smears, but overall I can forgive those because the Leica cameras collab is seemingly Xiaomi's secret weapon to five-star success.

You should if you are looking for an alternative to premium flagships like the Galaxy S23+. The Xiaomi 13 Pro shines with its triple 50-megapixel camera setup–with one of them using a 1-inch sensor. It’s meant to be a camera beast, especially with that partnership with Leica, but with its starting price of 1299 Euros for the 12GB/256GB model, that translates to the Xiaomi 13 Pro to being priced at around Php 75k. The pricing may be lower in Asian countries like the Philippines, so there’s a possibility that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will have a much more competitive price–and a juicy pre-order promo–once it becomes official locally soon.

I like this phone more than I liked any Xiaomi phone that came out in the past couple of years. Its design may not be the most exciting, but it's pretty sleek nevertheless (be sure to check out both colors to see which one you fancy), with a gorgeous display and a fancy ceramic back. It matches Samsung's recently released Galaxy S23 Plus on power and features, and has a very capable camera system. It charges extremely fast, and its battery lasts up to two days. At writing time, I had no info on a crucial piece of the puzzle: pricing. Feature-wise, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is a mix between the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which start at US$999.99 and US$1,199.99, respectively. If the Xiaomi 13 Pro is reasonably priced (for example, the Xiaomi 12 Pro started at US$999), it will be a very strong competitor to any Android flagship out there.

For now, the Xiaomi 13 Pro looks like one of the most promising smartphone cameras I have tested in recent years. Yes, one has come to expect certain standards in the premium smartphone segment, especially when it comes to cameras. So it can be a challenge as reviewers to get excited about yet another device. But there’s no doubt the Xiaomi 13 Pro is not a run-of-the-mill smartphone, at least in the camera department.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a complete package. It has impressive performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, great battery life, and a highly capable camera system. If you are a gamer then you will be quite satisfied with the performance of this phone. The camera is versatile and can get you some great shots, just remember portrait mode is a bit tricky. The device is a bit large, heavy, and bulky though. In addition, Xiaomi's MIUI 14 software implementation is serviceable but not as smooth as what is found in Samsung's One UI or Google Pixel software — both of which are also based on Android. I also wish that you could remove Xiamoi's first-party applications.Overall the Xiaomi 13 Pro offers performance that can easily take on the best devices available on the market today. The display and ceramic back are beautiful and add to the overall greatness of this phone. This device is available for purchase in China for approximately ¥5399 (converted directly, this would run about $776 as of late February 2023) and will be made available to international markets soon.

In isolation, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is an absolute gem of a phone. It’s supremely powerful, has an absolutely gorgeous display, and takes incredible, bokeh-filled photos in almost all conditions. Battery life is on a par with other flagships, but charging speeds are on another level. Xiaomi has also addressed criticisms levied at the previous-gen model, adding an IP rating and adding more magnification to to the telephoto camera. Performance isn’t hampered by a hot-running CPU any more, either. The software experience could perhaps be a little slicker, but that’s a minor grumble considering how much it undercuts heavy-hitting rivals like the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro. Anyone that’s serious about photography should absolutely have it on their shortlist. A brilliantly capable flagship phone with outstanding photographic ability. One of the highlights of the year so far.

Remember last year Xiaomi launched the 12S Ultra and everyone got excited ... only to find out the phone was for the China market only? Well now the Xiaomi 13 Pro is here for the global market and it brings back all of what made the 12S Ultra great -- that 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor -- plus a new "floating" telephoto lens that sees minimum focus distance shift depending on need. This macro capability plus OIS and Leica color tuning make the new telephoto lens a very fun to play with portrait lens that has inspired me to snap street photography all over.

Reviewing the Xiaomi 13 Pro, a flagship MiUI 14 smartphone boasting some of the best mobile camera tech of 2023, plus premium specs and excellent gaming performance. I've been testing the Xiaomi 13 Pro as my full-time phone and check out my unboxing, comparing vs the regular Xiaomi 13. If I had to choose this or the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I'd honestly be struggling. While the Sammy offers an S Pen Stylus, both smartphone cameras deliver impressive night photography and the Xiaomi 13 Pro matches it for 8K video capture (just not at 30FPS). Gamers will love the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset packed in here, with a better gaming mode vs the S23 Ultra. The Xiaomi 13 Pro also upgrades the AMOLED display of the regular phone to an LTPO panel, while you have faster charging support at 120W. Wireless charging is also supported and the battery life so far has been sublime, again a match for the Samsung. I'm hoping to review the regular Xiaomi 13 soon, and you can see my verdict on the Galaxy S23 Ultra right here on Tech Spurt. So which is your favourite phone of 2023 so far?

You won't feel short-changed with the Xiaomi 13 Pro's hardware. Three 50MP rear cameras is more than enough for anyone, as is the speedy 120W included charger and the Galaxy S23-beating battery life. Once again it's sad to see such a good phone not go on sale to American customers. Plus, the asking price and some performance issues may have you thinking twice as well.

We already knew that the Xiaomi 13 Pro had a lot to offer – having launched in China late last year. Now that it's gone global, the new Pro looks primed to surpasses expectations, with impressive hardware and design, and a heap of technology. It's the first international example of Xiaomi's recent partnership with imaging specialists Leica, paired with a massive 1-inch main camera sensor. Oh, and don't forget about the Snapdragon chipset, brilliant display, fast charging battery, and so much more.

What we will also be testing is how the phone performs during routine tasks and while gaming. The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is currently the most powerful SoC for Android smartphones. The phone also packs a 4,820mAh battery with support for 120W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Our unit had 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of software, Xiaomi has launched the 13 Pro with the latest MIUI 14 which is based on Android 13. The new MIUI skin is claimed to have received many enhancements under the hood, which should help offer a smoother user experience. Xiaomi has also promised to provide three years of software updates and five years of security support.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is not a perfect smartphone. First - there is no grip. It is impossible to use the 13 Pro without a case, as you would probably drop it in the first few hours. And then there is the dated selfie camera that's unworthy of a flagship, let alone a cameraphone. We hope this is the last time we see this 32MP Quad-Bayer camera, but somehow, we doubt that, unfortunately. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is one of the easiest recommendations we've ever given despite its horrible grip experience (beauty has its price, obviously, but please, buy yourself a premium case). It delivers on every promise and every important aspect, and it is one of the most beautiful, powerful, and skillful devices we've used. It is jam-packed with cutting-edge smartphone and imaging technology, and it's worth every penny.

For all intents and purposes, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is a great phone — packing a gorgeous screen, stellar camera system, beasty battery life, and lightning quick internals. But this classic curved sandwich design of glass and metal is beginning to feel really dated now. Alongside the sleek, utilitarian stylings of the Xiaomi 13, the difference is night and day. And MIUI 14 continues the problematic trend of bloatware. Plus, for all the love I have for that 1-inch sensor, the difference in photo quality between this and the standard 13 is not too noticeable. The Pro is great, but I know which of Xiaomi’s new flagships I would buy.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has it all: a gorgeous design with a ceramic finish, sublime AMOLED screen, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, all-day battery life with ultra-fast 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, and IP68 dust and water resistance. While you'll find most of these features in other phones, where the 13 Pro comes into its own is the cameras; by partnering with Leica, Xiaomi has delivered one of the best camera packages you'll find on a phone today.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphone got various interesting perks that make the overall usage amazing whether we talk about the new generation Snapdragon processor or the flagship-level camera setup. Everything about this phone is impeccable, and because of the additional features, the phone becomes one of the best options that you should check out right away. Although, currently, there aren’t many alternative options in the smartphone market since not many brands have released the new Snapdragon chipset. Around the beginning of 2023, the phone will get some worthy opponents. But for now, if you are interested in the flagship performance, we would recommend checking out the Vivo iQOO 10 Pro as a decent alternative option.

This is also due to the ultra-luxury 3400mm2 VC heat dissipation equipped by Xiaomi, which allows the upper and lower parts of the fuselage to be heated more evenly, and can effectively dissipate heat, making it easy to play games for a long time. Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro has excellent fast charging and battery life. The 120W surging fast charging can be fully charged in less than half an hour. The 4820mAh large battery provides 9 hours of battery life, allowing users to say goodbye to battery life anxiety. It can be said that among the flagship video phones, the Xiaomi digital series has achieved “overtaking” with its imaging capabilities, which has improved its competitiveness. I believe that when the public mentions camera phones in the future, they will think of Xiaomi as soon as possible.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro shapes up to be one of the most exciting and impressive flagship phones of 2023. Xiaomi has arguably the most advanced camera sensor on the market and it is not afraid to use it, it has improved the telephoto camera, and overall photos look poised to beat images from the Galaxy Ultra and iPhone Pro series. If Xiaomi prices this reasonably, it will finally give us a worthy alternative to the usual trifecta of Apple, Google and Samsung.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite is the cheapest smartphone in the Xiaomi 13 series, but still costs up to EUR 500. In return, the 6.55-inch device attempts to win over buyers with features such as a dual selfie camera and a 1000 nits bright rounded display, and is the first EU smartphone with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. We put the smartphone through its paces.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite is a great option for those who want a small and light mid-range phone where some effort has been put into making the thing seem expensive, especially from arm’s length. Not too much has been jettisoned in pursuit of beauty either. The Xiaomi 13 Lite’s performance is solid, it has a super-bright OLED screen, a capable rear camera and a background blur-loving front camera. There are a few little issues. The primary camera oversaturated colours a little, there are some grating quirks in the software and it’s a shame the Xiaomi 13 Lite has a mono speaker. However, the first of these is likely a deliberate measure to appeal to the sort of crowd Xiaomi is aiming for here.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite might not be the best mid-ranger smartphone as it would need all-rounder features that are necessary for a cost-efficient smartphone. Factors like impressive display, faster charging support, capability Soc, and amazing camera quality are present in this phone. But still, it’s not a viable option since it’s more expensive than a regular mid-range phone. You can wait for a few months till the price drop, then we would recommend purchasing this phone. As for now, we suggest you to going with the OnePlus Ace 2V is a more logical deal as it provides robust hardware configuration with decent performance support and exceptional software support. With all of that combined, you are getting a decent deal even though it’s last year’s device.

Following up on success is always difficult and Xiaomi has delivered a hit-and-miss model with the 13 Lite. The design and build is lovely, with a lightweight frame that is nice to use all day, and the decent battery life with quick recharging means you won’t have to worry about power. However, the cameras are a little underwhelming this time around, which is a surprise after the excellent quality of the 12 Lite. Although they are by no means bad. There are also some build issues surrounding the curved edges of the display. Still, there’s plenty of performance and charm on offer, plus the camera quality can most likely be improved by updates to the software, so the Xiaomi 13 Lite is a solid option if you don’t want the heavier and bulkier Google Pixel 6a or Nothing Phone (1).

A stylish premium design, a high-resolution OLED reference display with 120Hz refresh rate, a powerful Snapdragon processor, a great camera suite, a loud speaker, good battery life. No matter what you try to test, the Xiaomi 13 Lite passes the test decently everywhere. The only weakness of this brilliant smartphone is the price.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite certainly feels like the odd-one-out in the Xiaomi 13 series, and not only because it's a mid-ranger in what is otherwise a family of flagships. Despite packing older hardware and a borrowed design than its launch siblings, though, there are some subtle charms to this latest Lite.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite is the manufacturer's latest contender for the mid-range class of phones, and as the name suggests it is the most affordable of the new Xiaomi 13 series that launched recently. The Lite, unlike the regular Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro, however, was not available in the Chinese market until now, so this is the first time we are seeing it. Coming in at around €500, the Xiaomi 13 Lite is getting into quite the saturated territory. That said, it is equipped with some respectable specs for that price point, with some of its most notable aspects being the very capable display and processor.

That stubbornly absent microSD card slot is, at least, the only glaring issue that’s cropped up during this hands-on. Otherwise, the Xiaomi 13 Lite makes a strong first impression, thanks to its bright, responsive display and stylishly slim design. Parts that will require more testing to judge fully look promising so far, with enough advancements in the CPU and battery departments to justify charging a little more than the 12 Lite. It’s a shame that the Xiaomi 13 Lite doesn’t get the Leica-engineered cameras that are used on the rest of the 13 series, as this would have sold me more on its potential. We’ll be bringing you our full review in the near future, so check back in soon to see what we make of the cameras, and the Xiaomi 13 Lite as a whole.

Pricing aside, the Xiaomi 13 Lite is a great all-rounder with an impeccable display, fast charging, capable SoC and good main camera performance. However, users will still have to choose the best value for money and with the 13 Lite being considerably more expensive than its predecessor, the Lite isn't a viable mid-range solution anymore. The 13 Lite leaves a bit more to be desired from the speaker setup (the stereo setup is replaced by mono), battery life is somewhat uninspiring, the 2x zoom was better on the last year's 108MP main camera and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset fails to impress with performance in the context of a €500 phone. It's only marginally better than the Snapdragon 778G, too. At the end of the day, the Xiaomi 13 Lite needs a price correction before it can be recommended, as it's hardly an upgrade over last year's generation while being significantly pricier. And even if months go by and the price settles, we believe that the 13 Lite will still be a bit too expensive for our taste. The launch price is way too high.

Xiaomi has taken cameras on smartphones to a new level with the 13 Ultra's four 50MP cameras, while still covering essential bases like performance, display and charging. Aside from it not being sold in the U.S. or U.K., the biggest drawback is how chunky the phone is, due to its many included camera tricks.

Our initial takeaway with the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is that the manufacturer looked down every single element of the spec sheet decided to make every part of the phone as 'ultra' as it could. It's delivered 50-megapixel sensors on all four cameras, really high-end recording capabilities, and a display that is - on paper - probably the best display on the market. Add that to a phone with premium styling and top level internals and you get the flagship to end all flagships. At least, as far as specs go. The only real downside to this phone is that - at the moment - it appears it's not launching outside of China. No word has been said on an international launch, and the fact it came to us without Google Play Services/Play Store or any Google apps installed suggests this is a China market phone. Based on the price of the Xiaomi 13 Pro which did launch in western markets, we can safely assume that if it did launch anywhere else, it would be very expensive.

There’s currently no UK, European or US pricing or availability for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra yet and judging by the Chinese price it’s going to cost a far whack more than the £1099 Xiaomi 13 Pro. If it was to arrive in the UK, there’s every chance this could be priced between £1300-1400 – but that’s pure guesswork at this stage. The 13 Ultra does a lot though and the camera hardware is some of the finest I have seen on any phone to date. The huge sensor, variable aperture, duo of telephoto sensors and four 50-megapixel sensors make for a tempting package, especially if you want more creative control over your snaps than you get from an iPhone 14 or Galaxy S23. This is the definition of a niche phone, but after using it just a few days it’s also clear it’s full of innovation and if everything works as well as Xiaomi is touting it will, then there’s every chance this could be the best Android phone of the year.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra hasn't officially launched yet, but we've already seen some leaks and rumours emerge on the specs, camera tech and other features. Here's a closer look at that Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone ahead of the global reveal, hopefully happening before Summer 2023. With that Leica partnership in full swing, we're intrigued by the camera hardware that'll be crammed inside of this super-premium phone. Especially as the Xiaomi 13 Pro already boasts an excellent setup, including Sony's 1-inch IMX898 sensor and a solid telephoto shooter. Other specs for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra are mostly predictable, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a mighty AMOLED screen. However, will we see some battery innovations, or is the 90W charging rumour accurate? Check out my reviews of the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 (the latter is coming early next week), hopefully we'll have more on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra soon! For now, what do you reckon - let us know your own wants and must-haves for this super-premium smartphone.
