Ya sabemos que las últimas CPU de la serie U de Ryzen 7 pueden superar a las últimas CPU de la serie U de Core i7 de 11ª generación en muchos casos, pero las diferencias se inclinan aún más a favor de AMD cuando se pasa a la categoría de presupuesto de Ryzen 3 frente a Core i3.

Recientemente hemos tenido la oportunidad de comprobar el Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15ALC6 que se vende por unos 500 dólares. A diferencia de la mayoría de los portátiles de su rango de precios que cuentan con CPUs Intel Core i3, este sistema en particular cuenta con el competidor AMD Ryzen 3 5300U Zen 2 de la competencia. También es el primer portátil que aparece en nuestra base de datos con un procesador de este tipo, por lo que nos interesaba especialmente saber cómo se comparaba con la serie Core i3. La respuesta corta es que la CPU de AMD aniquila por completo a la de Intel en el mejor de los casos, mientras que se queda ligeramente atrás en el peor.

El rendimiento multihilo en bruto favorece al Ryzen 3 5300U entre un 70 y un 90 por ciento en comparación con el Tiger Lake-U Core i3-1115G4 lo que da a la CPU de AMD una ventaja significativa en muchas aplicaciones pesadas multihilo como Blender, 7-Zip, y la codificación x265. Las CPUs Core i3 siguen estando limitadas a dos núcleos y cuatro hilos mientras que el Ryzen 3 5300U tiene el doble de núcleos e hilos.

El rendimiento de un solo hilo favorece al Core i3-1115G4 entre un 10 y un 15 por ciento sobre el Ryzen 3 5300U. La ventaja de Intel es de esperar, ya que el Core i3-1115G4 tiene un límite superior de TDP mayor que la pieza de AMD (28 W frente a 15 W) y menos núcleos físicos. No obstante, dicha ventaja es relativamente menor.

El rendimiento de los gráficos integrados es donde las cosas se ponen un poco interesantes. Mientras que el Ryzen 7 suele quedar por detrás del Core i7 Iris Xe 96 EUs en aproximadamente un 30 por ciento, el Ryzen 3 supera al Core i3 Iris Xe 48 EUs en muchos títulos del mundo real. GTA V, DOTA 2 Reborn, y Witcher 3 favorecerían sistemáticamente al chip de AMD en todas las configuraciones probadas.

Todas estas ventajas de AMD significarían poco si estos portátiles con AMD fueran más caros y tuvieran más demanda de energía que una alternativa Core i3. Sin embargo, este no es el caso, ya que los portátiles que funcionan con cualquiera de los dos procesadores están bajo envolturas de energía similares y con objetivos de precio similares. Si estás buscando un portátil económico, hay pocas razones para elegir un modelo Core i3 en lugar de uno Ryzen 3, al menos si los demás atributos se mantienen iguales.
