Poco a poco pero con paso firme y decidido, AMD ha conseguido alcanzar el mercado gaming de gama alta como siempre ha querido: con sus propios medios. La combinación del Ryzen 9 5900HX y la Radeon RX 6800M ha demostrado en esta prueba que ya puede competir de tú a tú con las combinaciones más potentes de la mano de Intel y Nvidia. Y a un mejor precio. Para este Asus ROG Strix G15 (G513QY) cuenta con el excelente hacer de ASUS en su serie Strix. Un cuerpo compacto, atractivo, no muy pesado y bien rematado da cabida a un portátil gaming que está ya entre lo mejor del mercado en relación calidad/precio si queremos ir más allá del juego a 1080p y contar además con una muy buena pantalla y una excelente autonomía y refrigeración. Los detalles de la webcam o el teclado son solo apuntes a mejorar en un equipo al que no se le puede pedir más por lo que cuesta.

El Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513 es quizás uno de los portátiles gaming de gama alta más equilibrados que podemos encontrar en el mercado, pues sin excesos, ofrece unas prestaciones realmente envidiables por la mayoría de modelos. La combinación del procesador AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX con los gráficos AMD Radeon RX 6800M ofrecen un excelente rendimiento para disfrutar de su pantalla de QHD a 165 Hz, una buena elección para usuarios exigentes, aunque en sus 15,6 pulgadas una FHD podría ser suficiente. Destacar también su SSD M.2 de 1 TB y la iluminación LED RGB de sus chasis, aunque eso ya al gusto de cada uno. Podemos encontrar a la venta el Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513 por 2.099 euros en tiendas como PcComponentes, una cifra realmente interesante para las prestaciones que ofrece, aunque debemos anotar que viene sin licencia de Windows. Por otro lado, la pantalla de 300 HZ con FreeSync es un acierto, aunque habrá usuarios que prefieran algo más de resolución que FullHD, por lo que la versión con 2560 x 1440 píxeles y 165 Hz será una mejor opción para ellos. No obstante, hay que destacar que el precio del G15 Advanced Edition es tremendamente competitivo si tenemos en cuenta todo el rendimiento que ofrece. Hablamos de un precio de 2.099 euros por la versión con pantalla 2K y 1 TB de SSD y, por poner un ejemplo, el ASUS Rog Strix Scar 15, con un procesador inferior y la 3080 limitada a 115W, cuesta 800 euros más y el rendimiento general es menor. Y lo más importante: es prácticamente imposible encontrar un portátil con un rendimiento que se acerque al del ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition por este precio.

Honestly, there's very little to complain about the ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition. Everything about the laptop is amazing but if there's one nitpick that I have to choose, it would be that the webcam is missing which is quite essential for the current circumstances. It's also a pity that ASUS Malaysia has no plans (yet) to import the advantage editions to Malaysia so we have no idea of how much the price tag is, making it difficult to do any point of comparison. But one thing is for sure - be prepared to spend a hefty amount of money if you want this bad boy.

That’s not really a surprise given the components are designed to run at higher power in the Advantage models, and we’ll need to further test how the improved thermal module copes with this increased power. Other than that, though, I’d expect the Strix G15 to be a competitive product. At this point, I don’t have a time estimate for the review, all I can say is that I don’t have a review sample yet, so a review won’t happen sooner than a few weeks. It's only while gaming that its fans spin up and make any noise. In terms of the platform's capabilities, AMD's clearly got the goods. AMD's Ryzen 5000 and Radeon RX 6000M series combo for laptops will offer strong performance all around. Intel's got some advantages in terms of IO and single-threaded performance with its latest Tiger Lake-based platforms, but those aren't enough to overshadow what AMD has done here for gaming machines.

The G15 isn’t perfect -- the screen could be brighter and more vivid, and the SSD should definitely be faster. And would it kill you Asus to try to fit a webcam back into the picture? If power (and a more vivid display) are your most important priorities, I recommend checking out the $2,999 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model.
