Overall, the ThinkPad SL510 is a solid Windows 7 machine. Its wide screen gives ample room to work without a full jump up to a monster-size model. The defining ThinkPad reliability is very much present, and its speed is admirable. True, battery life could be a bit better, and Lenovo really should have given the SL510 a bit more punch - you certainly won't want to try to play anything graphically demanding - but it's a surprisingly light, remarkably quick notebook. In short, it's a ThinkPad.

The Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 proved to be a reasonable compromise between price and quality. While it doesn't offer the nicer touchpad or rugged build quality of the T-series, it retails for almost half the starting price. The SL-series is a good option for users looking for only basic qualities in a notebook like a standard WXGA screen or integrated graphics. It still offers a great keyboard and extended batteries if you plan on typing documents all day without breaking the wallet.

When Lenovo introduced the SL series last year, not everyone was thrilled with what they saw. Any changes to the venerable ThinkPad lineup come along with scrutiny, but this small business series was seen by many as a watering down of the brand. Ultimately the SL510 is a good buy in a highly competitive space where there are not really any clear standouts. It is a thoughtful evolution of the SL series as well as a step up from the SL500. The $499 starting price is there just to attract buyers, but for well under $1000 you can have a Windows 7 productivity machine.

Lenovo's ThinkPad SL510 is a refresh of their budget 15-inch ThinkPad lineup that coincides with the Windows 7 launch. The laptop retains a very business-like appearance with a bulky, boxy design that could really use some updating. Beyond the looks though, the system does perform extremely well thanks to a higher end Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a fast hard drive. It would be nice to see a dedicated graphics standard in the system but it is designed for small to medium-business users on a budget.

But that doesn’t mean they have to do without one of the perks of the mother ship: a ThinkPad notebook. In the ThinkPad SL510, Lenovo delivers a mainstream 15.6-inch entry for the small-business market with some of the familiar ThinkPad comforts—namely, the comfortable keyboard and dual pointing devices—though with some corners cut to hit a $549 starting price for the line. The SL510 offers decent performance for productivity apps for small-business users, but some ThinkPad niceties have been jettisoned to keep the price low.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GPU integrado (memoria compartida) em el chipset GM45 (Montevina). Gracias a dos shaders más y una frecuencia de núcleo más alta, es mucho más rápido que el antiguo GMA X3100. Aun así, no es recomendable para jugadores (juegos DirectX 10 no son fluidos y pueden ser jugados sólo con configuraciones muy bajas). El procesador de video integrado es capaz de ayudar a decodificar videos HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2), como para una reproducción fluida de Blu-Ray con CPUs lentos.

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit",  SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep,  LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.

T6670: Core 2 Duo de nivel básico basado en el núcleo Penryn. Similar al C2D T6600, pero con VT-x Virtualization y especificación de temperatura más alta.
