The Lenovo ThinkPad R61 laptop uses an Intel Core Duo 2 1.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM pre installed so it will be fast, reliable and capable of running multiple applications at the same time.  One of the great things about this specific model is that you can upgrade the RAM to a maximum 3 GB if needed which will dramatically increase the speed in which it runs.

Lenovo has done a major overhaul of their ThinkPad line of notebooks and that made it all the way down to the R series. The R61 uses the new roll cage design chassis that improves the rigidity and reduces the amount of flex. This is a great bonus to an already superbly reliable platform originally developed by IBM.
The ThinkPad R61 has a fairly powerful Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 dual core mobile processor at the heart of it. This is an excellent processor for such a low cost setup. The problem is that Lenovo has decided to ship only 512MB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory with it. That amount works OK for limited application use with the older Windows XP Professional operating system, but it really needs at least a full gigabyte for those looking to use it more heavily. Storage is a bit disappointing on the ThinkPad R61.

Lenovo Group Limited is the fourth largest personal computer manufacturer in the world, and their laptops have reminded me of business suitability in a sleek, although uninspired design. Lenovo’s ThinkPad R61 is the budget item of the ThinkPad series, although it’s packed with the power to prove it’s a major contender on the market. Today we will be looking at the 14.1” WXGA+ version, which is of very similar design to the T61 14.1” widescreen. There are also 15.4” widescreen versions of the R61 available, although they are clearly larger and heavier than the sleeker 14.1” widescreen models. The ThinkPad R61 comes in matte black, with rounded corners and a ThinkPad logo emblazoned on the bottom right of the lid. There are two silver hinges visible, which exhibit smooth travel as well as a powerful look.

The Thinkpad R61 was released by Lenovo earlier in 2007 as a “thin-and-light” model of the “R-series” line-up. New features in the R61 include a redesigned roll cage for extra reinforcement in the lid, the new Intel “Santa Rosa” platform for mobile computers and built in wireless WAN antenna on the left side of the lid (built in). The Lenovo Thinkpad R61 14.1” widescreen follows the traditional Thinkpad design while not sacrificing performance or reliability. The R61 is available at a slightly lower price than the T61. While lacking only in a high-end graphics card selection (T61p), the R61 remains a very strong competitor that I recommend as a less expensive alternative. This notebook is my first notebook and will be used mostly for university studies, casual gaming, office work, web surfing and some mathematics programming. I was not looking for a gaming notebook so I chose the Intel X3100 graphics card as it provides more than enough power to satisfy Vista’s graphics requirements.

Lenovo’s R-Series used to play second fiddle to the T-Series, offering cut-down features and less performance for budget-strapped businesses. The pedigree gap is now closer, and the ThinkPad R61 is a very good laptop which should certainly be considered if you don’t need the premier performance of the T-Series.

The Lenovo ThinkPad R500 may be their lower cost business class laptop, but it can be configured for under $750 with certain conditions. This makes for a very specialized systems with a good number of limitations on it. But, if you need a really fast machine and aren't necessarily concerned about storage space, having a DVD burner or even the software package, then the ThinkPad R500 may be a system to consider. It retains most of the ThinkPad's legendary durability and design that can't be matched by other budget systems.

Despite its problems, the Lenovo Thinkpad R500 is an easy recommendation for anyone desiring a laptop for basic tasks. It delivers more than enough performance for these programs and runs Vista without any problems. The overall build quality would make the R500 safe for travel, yet its weight and size hinders its portability. Still, its cooling system is best I have ever seen. As long as gaming is not high on your priorities, the Thinkpad R500 should be on your short-list for laptops under $1,000.

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M: Basada en la GeForce 8400M G o GS para portátiles la Quadro NVS 140 fue diseñada para el sector de negocios proporcionando compatibilidad y estabilidad mejoradas. Con respecto al rendimiento, debería ser comparable a una 8400 G o GS, pero, talvez clasifica un poco más bajo, por un controlador "más estable". Por lo tanto, la NVS 140M proporciona un nivel básico de rendimiento 3D.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GPU integrado (memoria compartida) em el chipset GM45 (Montevina). Gracias a dos shaders más y una frecuencia de núcleo más alta, es mucho más rápido que el antiguo GMA X3100. Aun así, no es recomendable para jugadores (juegos DirectX 10 no son fluidos y pueden ser jugados sólo con configuraciones muy bajas). Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 es un chip de video integrado (incorporado) en un chipset de Mobile Intel 965GM (para Merom =Core 2 arquitectura). Es el sucesor del Intel GMA 950.  Lo más interesante es la integración de un pipeline completamente programable.  Debido a la integración de características Direct X9, HDR y Hardware Transform & Lighning (T&L) – su predecesor solo tenía Software T&L – debería estar listo para Windows Vista Premium (soporte Aero Glass completamente).  Con respecto a los datos, el rendimiento debe ser claramente mejor al de GMA 950.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit",  SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep,  LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.

T7500: El Core 2 Duo T7500 es un Core 2 Duo basado en arquitectura Merom con 4 MB de Cache de nivel 2. Se situa en la gama media (en 2009) y rinde a la par que los modernos P7550 o Turion II Ultra M640/M660.

T9400: La T9400 es una rapida CPU de gama media para portatiles y es basicamente una CPU Core 2 Duo P9500 con un mayor TDP de 35 vatios.

Intel Celeron M: Es una Pentium M de nivel 2 dividido y limitado en FSB 400. La característica de este procesador es la velocidad, la cual es difícilmente menor que la equivalente Pentium M.  De cualquier manera puede cambiar la velocidad, no de manera dinámica,  como la Pentium M y por lo tanto necesita, sin carga, más corriente.
