Samsung launches new 14-inch MacBook Neo rival with 25-hour battery life

Samsung has introduced a brand-new addition to its Galaxy Book lineup, and it's a standard model that runs Windows. Standing as a 14-inch rival to the MacBook Neo, the company wants this laptop, the new Book6, to be positioned as a "more accessible everyday PC."
While the last Book6 was Panther Lake-equipped, the new one is powered by the Intel Wildcat Lake processors, and Samsung is offering two CPU options. There's no explicit information about the exact CPUs in the press release, but one is expected to be the Core 3 304, and the other is likely the Core 5 315.
Among the two, the former is the entry-level option within the Wildcat Lake lineup, while the latter is one of the mid-range CPUs from the series. Both should, however, be more than good enough for everyday tasks and media consumption. It's also worth noting that the Galaxy Book 6 is available with up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
On the front, this Samsung laptop features a 14-inch display, which is a little larger than the screen found on the MacBook Neo. However, it's less pixel-dense, coming with a 1920x1200 pixels resolution, and is dimmer, with a 350 nits brightness rating.
To compare, the rival from Apple has a 2408x1506 pixels resolution and has a 500 nits brightness rating. MacBook Neo's display also did relatively well in our tests. On the bright side, the Galaxy Book 6 has a higher battery life rating.
Specifically, Samsung claims that the 61.2Wh battery of the Book6 allows the laptop to offer up to 25 hours of runtime, while the MacBook Neo is rated for a maximum of 16 hours of battery life.
The port configuration of the laptop is quite decent, with the Galaxy Book6 coming with two USB-C, one USB-A, one HDMI, and one 3.5mm audio port. WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a sleek design with 15.7mm thickness and 1.35kg (around 2.97lbs) weight are among the other highlights.
Samsung's Galaxy Book6 has a slightly higher starting price than the MacBook Neo, with the base configuration starting at $799. It's worth noting that the starting config comes with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD (2TB Lexar NM1090 curr. $349.99 on Amazon). Samsung says that the laptop will first be available in select markets, and the availability will later expand.
