Apple’s near-annual MacBook Air updates continue, and the M4 model brings meaningful improvements. With the base RAM doubled to 16 GB, better battery life, and a starting price of $999, it’s an excellent value. The design remains compact, lightweight, and attractive, with above-average screen brightness and the new Sky Blue color option. However, connectivity remains limited. While the M4 chip offers far more power than most consumers need, the SSD speeds are merely adequate.

Don’t let that put you off, however. Despite the fact that this is is a bit of Prime Day spin, this is still a very good price for the 13in M4 MacBook Air; it’s our favourite laptop right now, by the way, and for good reason. It’s fast, beautifully made, has a brilliant screen, keyboard and touchpad. The speakers are awsome, battery life is brilliant and it runs completely silently as there’s no fan inside. It is not particularly brilliant at gaming and the 256GB SSD is on the small side – but in every other respect, there’s no better laptop you can buy for £849. If fact, I’d go so far as to say if this is your budget and gaming isn’t a priority, you shouldn’t be looking at anything else. The 13in M4 MacBook Air is the best laptop around and the price is fantastically reasonable. Just don’t call it a Prime Day deal.

After all of my testing and typing was done, I’ve returned to the same conclusion I had last year: the 15-inch MacBook Air M4 is the laptop I’m telling nearly everyone to get. Unless you need a laptop small enough for a seat-back tray on a plane (get the 13-inch MacBook Air or think about the iPad Mini), the combination of a larger display with Apple’s nimble M4 performance and excellent keyboard is hard to argue against. Those who prefer a laptop with a touchscreen should check out the Microsoft Surface Laptop and the Lenovo Slim 7x, and especially the former if you like USB-A. Lastly, anyone who’s got a MacBook Air with M2 or M3? Unless you really need that extra 20% or so performance or really fancy this Sky Blue design, I think you’re already good.

The MacBook Air M4 offers both power and portability unlike anything else in the market. Not only is this laptop both thin and light, but the use of the M4 chip makes it one of the fastest consumer machines out there. Little has changed from the M3 version, aside from that chip and a new colour finish, but that’s no bad thing when Apple's MacBook is so good.

The MacBook Air M4 is still one of the most complete packages you can ask for when it comes to creativity, productivity, and everyday use. The M4 Air's sleek and lightweight form factor set the standard for ultraportables, and not much has changed with its design since, for better or for worse. If you have an iPhone and enjoy Apple's ecosystem of products, the MacBook Air is a solid choice as a main driver. If you already have a Mac that's more than a few years old, the MacBook Air M4 will feel like a significant upgrade. If you have an M2 Pro or M3, the leap will feel less noticeable. If you're coming from an older Windows device, well, you'll wonder how you ever took calls on your 720p webcam at all. Considering all of this, the MacBook Air M4 is a modest upgrade from its predecessor but pushes the line forward overall.

The Apple MacBook Air with M4 is less of a revolution and more of a masterful refinement of an already stellar formula. It takes everything users love about the Air – its portability, silence, and all-day battery. And elevates it with the impressive efficiency and single-core speed of the new M4 chip. This isn’t a device that shouts about its power; it whispers it through a seamless, instantaneous user experience for the vast majority of tasks. For its target audience of students, professionals, and everyday users who value a premium, hassle-free experience above all else, this machine comes tantalizingly close to perfection. However, it’s a device that knows exactly what it is, and its design choices come with clear limitations that power users must consider.

Apple has once again refined what was already one of the best laptops in the world. With the M4 MacBook Air, they’ve made smart improvements in all the right places. The best is that the price has actually gone down significantly compared to the Air M3. How significantly? Rs 15,000 to be precise. The MacBook Air M4 starts at Rs 99,900 in India! If you’re in the market for a new laptop, the MacBook Air M4 is an easy recommendation. It’s powerful, light, and boasts incredible battery life. For students, professionals, and even casual users, it offers everything you could possibly need in a portable laptop.

The MacBook Air is one of the best thin and light laptops out there. I can say that even for the M1 model, to date. It won't, therefore, come as a surprise to make a similar comment about the latest-and-greatest M4 refresh of Apple's beloved laptop. But in 2025, more than ever, Apple has reached a level of finesse where the MacBook Air is nigh unsurpassable. It maintains its standout looks married to a lovely build. The keyboard is fantastic, and so is the trackpad. Performance is top-notch, and if you are concerned about benchmark figures, it can even rub shoulders with the M3 Pro silicon. The processor is faster, less taxing on the power uptake, and gets a future-proof multi-tasking boost with 16GB of RAM without a price hike.

And taking a final look at the scoresheet, we can see that the M4 MacBook Air takes a comfortable victory in this battle. The Zenbook S 14 does snatch a win at a couple of things like display, port selection, and gaming but besides that… the MacBook Air has a clean sweep at everything else. Especially when it comes to important stuff like performance, software experience, battery life, and overall value for money. So yeah. If you’re looking to buy a premium, everyday laptop without spending too much, get the M4 MacBook Air. Don’t look at any Windows ultrabook unless macOS itself is a dealbreaker to you.

The MacBook Air continues to impress – and this bump in performance, thanks to the M4 chip, makes it an unbelievably powerful option in both sizes. For portability, the 13-inch is still my choice, but if you do want a larger screen, the 15-inch is still impressively thin and lightweight, making it easy to slip into your bag. On paper, the screen brightness and performance of the MacBook Air suggests a big step down from the MacBook Pro – but I found the screen to still be very impressive. So, unless that extra brightness and refresh rate are critical for your work, you won’t feel short-changed. Overall, the MacBook Air M4 offers both power and portability unlike anything else in the market. While little has changed generation to generation, the Air remains a shining example of a laptop done right.

The M4 MacBook Air keeps the same slim, lightweight design and vibrant display as its predecessors, but now sports the upgraded M4 chip and a new 12MP Center Stage camera for improved performance and video call experiences. Most people, if they own anything other than a phone, keep only one additional device. If you decide that device should be a laptop, the MacBook Air is the best choice there is. It’s light as a feather and powerful enough to handle everything I could throw at it with absolute grace. Personally, I don’t have room in my life for a MacBook. I always plan on having some manner of desktop Mac to run my Plex server and store my media libraries. I’m happy with my Apple Vision Pro headset for handling lighter work and home entertainment. If I were to add another form factor to the mix, I would sooner grab an iPad for its unique capabilities as a tablet. Still, I was impressed by my time with the M4 Macbook Air for this review. It’s good to know that the vast majority of people who prefer laptops still have an excellent choice.

The MacBook Air 13-inch M4 feels like the return of the original M1 Air. It's an undeniable value that will give you years of excellent performance, even if you pick up the base model. My limited complaints are also similar to those of the M1 Air, there are features that the vast majority of people will never miss. The new MacBook Air may not be as seminal a machine as the recently updated Mac Mini, but it’s easily one of the best MacBook Airs Apple has ever released. It’s powerful, well-built, thin and light, has a long battery life, and is even cheaper than the model it replaces. Furthermore, it now comes with 16GB of memory as standard, which addresses one of our longest-standing and biggest issues with Apple’s base configuration MacBooks. However, it’s not perfect. The Liquid Retina display is starting to look outdated now given that most Windows laptops are steadily transitioning to OLED displays. Throttling can be an issue on longer or more intensive workloads. Also, having just 256GB and two USB-C ports is a bit miserly. Thankfully, none of these are dealbreakers and don’t detract from the fact that, for most people, the MacBook Air is all the MacBook they’ll need.

Apple’s M4 processor update, baseline memory increase, and price decrease have elevated the MacBook Air to its highest perch yet. Any time a company releases a product that can do more for less than the last model, we must recognize that. Hence our Editors’ Choice award for this year’s MacBook Air. While we don’t recommend owners of the recent M3 MacBook Air splurge on the M4 model, it should easily eclipse any MacBook Air released before last year’s edition. However, we’d be remiss not to recognize that the MacBook Air’s lofty position as the most emulated laptop of all time has come full circle. PC-based laptops that have been chasing the Air for years are starting to run faster and last longer, thanks in part to advancements in throughput and efficiency by AMD and Intel.

Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air remains my favorite laptop. The MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) has an excellent build and design, working on it is a pleasure, and the M4 provides all the power I need for the widest range of tasks. I appreciate the long battery life, bright, colorful screen, and clear audio. It has enough ports to support my almost always connected external screen, and I’m glad there’s still a vestigial 3.5mm headphone jack. macOS and the supporting Apple ecosystem are unparalleled. I’m still somewhat disappointed in Apple Intelligence, but hopeful we’ll see significant updates in the coming months – and Siri must get better soon if Apple hopes to compete in the AI space.

I’m going to go ahead and give the 2025 MacBook Air 13 a perfect score. It’s about time. To begin with, this might very well be the perfect 13-inch (or 14-inch) thin-and-light laptop design. It’s solid as a rock, looks great, and is eminently portable given its insane thinness. No, it doesn’t have OLED (yet), but until OLED can provide the same kind of efficiency, it’s not necessarily the best tradeoff for this class of laptop. It’s also very fast, beating out its competition in multi-core performance and demolishing it in single-core speed. And, its battery life maintains the most attractive performance-efficiency ratio over the best Windows has to offer. With a starting price of $1,000 for a very usable configuration, the only reason to pass up the MacBook Air 13 is if you just simply can’t live without Windows. I suspect that this will be fewer and fewer people as time goes by.

There’s remarkable consensus among reviewers. While the M4 MacBook Air represents an iterative update, they said, the combination of improved performance, better webcam, enhanced external display support, doubled base RAM and a lower price make it a compelling option. Tom’s Hardware called it “a really solid value,” while The Verge said “the MacBook Air continues to nail the fundamentals at a fairly affordable price.” Gizmodo recommended it as “the best starting place for those looking to get into Apple’s laptop ecosystem.” Wired maintained it’s “the best MacBook for most people.” Primary criticisms center on the limited port selection, the continued presence of the display notch and the missed opportunity for more vibrant color options.

Once again, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air are basically everything we want from ultraportable notebooks. They’re zippy, wonderfully light and can last well beyond a full day of work. This year, Apple has discontinued the older MacBook Airs, so if you can find a good deal on an M3, I’d grab that. However, those models will sell out soon, leaving most buyers with two options: a new M4 or a refurbished unit. Apple has some solid deals in its refurb store. At the time of writing, a base model M2 with 8GB of RAM is only $879, which is a great deal for office workers and students. If you need more power, there are some other refurbished deals, but this store changes its stock often, so you’ll need to see what’s available. If you want a new MacBook Air, I’d recommend buying it from Apple’s education store since anyone in Canada can access it.

Overall, the M4 MacBook Air is a good, if minor, update to an already fantastic laptop, and it has a lower price to boot. If you have an M3 Air or even an M2 Air, there are some reasons to upgrade, like the better camera and external display support. But the performance difference is modest. On the other hand, for Intel and M1 MacBook Air owners, the performance gap is sizeable enough that upgrading is definitely worth your while. Something to keep in mind, too, is that while the M3 MacBook Air is going away, you might be able to pick one of those up at a deep enough discount, new or refurbished, to make you forget about the features you're not getting with the M4.

I'm pretty sure that even Tim Cook would agree with me that Apple is simply coasting along with minimal product maintenance on the MacBook Air in 2025. So in the unlikely event where Apple's CEO listens to me, here goes nothing: Tim, feel free to write your opinion in the comments! I would also like to tell you, and just to you, Tim, that I don't think this is a bad thing. While the changes this year are marginal, the MacBook Air with M4 SoC is a better deal for two reasons: First, it comes with a better webcam, better connectivity for displays, and with the unmissable, more powerful SoC, providing it with obvious technical advantages over its predecessor. Unfortunately, these are not large enough technological leaps for existing customers to buy the new model.

The MacBook Air M4 is an easy sell. It’s the complete package for most people, and if you want a better screen or options of a more powerful chip then there’s the MacBook Pro M4. The lower price combined with the bump in memory to 16GB across the board makes this a fantastic deal – how often can that be said about Apple’s products? There’s nothing to entice anyone happy with their M3 or M2 models, aside from some slight performance gains and a few extra hours of endurance, but if you jumped on the Apple Silicon bandwagon early with the M1 then this is a worthy upgrade. My only real criticism is that the screen is starting to show its age compared to the best laptops and best ultrabooks. It’s perfectly fine, but without ProMotion, a matte option and no OLED variant, this is the only area I want to see upgraded on the next model.

The 13-inch Apple MacBook Air M4 (2025) is arguably the best value-for-money MacBook Apple has ever made. With double the RAM, a fresh new look, and that brilliant M4 chip—all at a lower price than the M3 variant, it’s hard not to recommend it. It’s not a gaming beast, and it’s not made for long-hour heavy renders. But for everyone else—students, writers, designers, coders, content creators, the M4 MacBook Air offers silent performance, unmatched battery life, a premium display, and one of the most travel-friendly form factor in the industry. For ₹99,900, there are very few laptops in 2025 that offers this much efficiency, build quality, and power in such a compact and elegant package.

Apple’s vision for the iPad has evolved through different phases. The new iPad Air is very similar to last year’s model but also feels different. It still feels like an iPad, but there’s a subtle hint that the device is awfully close to the iPad Pro. It perfectly represents what a tablet should be—thin and light, fast enough to run all the must-have apps, yet capable of functioning as a personal computer. That’s exactly how Apple wants you to see the iPad: part tablet, part Mac. I spent a week with the iPad Air M3, and here are my observations.

Compared to the iPad Air M2, the new one is a marginal bump in its capabilities, design and feature set. So, it is good to see that Apple has kept the price of the iPad Air unchanged. It still starts at Rs 59,900 for the 11-inch variant and Rs 79,900 for the iPad Air M3 13-inch. In other words, the iPad Air M3 is for those who are buying their first proper tablet or those who are upgrading from vanilla or old iPads. For such users, it is near perfect. The M3 chip, in particular, offers substantial performance, approaching pro-level capabilities, making it a great value.

Ultimately, the M4 MacBook Air is a great laptop but it isn’t a revolution. Apple has reacted to Windows laptops catching up on battery life by dropping the price, upping the base specification and keeping the rest of the laptop as is. That’s mostly good news and it means – after a brief hiatus – the MacBook Air is once more the laptop of choice, stripping that honour away from the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7. It’s the laptop I recommend most people buy if they want a reliable, do-it-all machine capable of everything from writing laptop reviews and watching YouTube to heavy-duty tasks such as 4K video editing and 3D design. Whether it will stay there for long, however, is up to the big Windows laptop box shifters.

Apple:
