El G73 es un ordenador magnifico que se podrá disfrutar por precios relativamente económicos que hablan de 1500€ con una configuración muy similar a la analizada por nosotros. Es un ordenador de estética nada convencional pero que equilibra algo tan difícil como es la clase y la espectacularidad y que monta en su interior la tarjeta grafica de portátil más potente hasta la fecha.
La combinación de diseño con la elección de piezas de gran rendimiento y calidad es casi perfecta. Su sencillez general y sus formas anguladas le dan un carácter muy personal que nos recuerda, en ese carácter innovador, a modelos como el G1 y G2 que metieron a Asus en la pelea del mercado gaming portátil por la puerta grande.

Advising whether or not you should buy this laptop is tricky – not least because Asus has supplied us with an arguably over-specced version. The 8GB of RAM and the pair of 500GB hard drives increase the price without adding much value. We also would have liked to see whether or not a dual-core Core i7-620M would have been a better bet for gaming too, as this CPU runs at a much higher frequency than the quad-core CPU Asus specified.

We had high expectations for Crysis, which remains the most resource intensive Windows game – even after three years. We cranked all settings to high on 1920x1080 and had no lag at all, although it lowered frame-rates to a level just about playable - but still higher than many gaming laptops we've seen. This means that the G73J can play games COD Modern Warfare 2 without even cocking an eyebrow. But, it also shows that it’s only human after all.

Matte-black and menacing, the design inspiration for Asus's G73 may be the technically invisible B-2 Stealth Bomber but this laptop is anything but subtle. It's big, eye-catching, the entire surface is rubberised and two enormous vents behind the screen glow a hellfire red, presumably making a visual reference to afterburners or something. If you're happy to pay the premium, it's absolutely the best choice for games right now.

All things considered, the impressions are very favourable. The G73J is the ultimate gaming machine, with no performance bottlenecks whatsoever, while remaining cool at all times. Although the suggested retail price of 1630€ is rather high, compared to other gaming notebooks, the G73J isn’t that expensive after all. The price-performance ratio is more than good, which means that the question isn’t really whether it’s worth it, but whether you can afford one.

Comentario

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870: Tarjeta de gama alta DirectX 11 basada en la HD5770 de escritorio. Debido al bus de memoria de 128 bits, solo con rápida memoría GDDR5 (en otro caso podría producirse un cuello de botella).

Estas tarjetas también deben ser capaces de aguantar todos los juegos actuales, pero  la mayoría de ellos en configuraciones de detalles medios y bajos y con bajas resoluciones. Juegos más antiguos, o menos exigentes todavía pueden ser jugados con buena calidad de gráficos.

920XM: Es la CPU Core i7 para portatiles más rapida de 2009 pero con un TDP de 55 watios demanda mucha energia. Debido al Modo Turbo, la CPU puede funcionar hasta 3.2 GHz. Debido a la etiqueta Extreme, el multiplicador no esta bloqueado y por tanto la CPU es facil de overclockear.
