El diseño es realmente sorprendente con una implementación perfecta de la segunda pantalla, algo que pocos vais a saber aprovechar bien. Por lo que debemos empezar a ubicar bien a quien va dirigido este portátil, siendo su campo el profesional sobre todo en diseño gráfico. Por sus especificaciones es de lo más top para juegos en portátiles, siendo perfecto para streamers por sus dos pantallas con las que gestionar los aspectos de la retransmisión en la táctil mientras jugamos en la principal. Los componentes usados son lo mejor que podemos encontrar en el mercado a día de hoy, tanto en CPU como en tarjeta gráfica. Viene acompañado con 64GB de memoria DDR5 y 4TB de espacio en RAID por lo que ampliarlo para mejora me resulta imposible. Las pantallas usadas con un alto nivel de brillo y cobertura de colores, siendo prácticamente del 100% tanto en sRGB y DCI P3 son una delicia a nivel visual. Evidentemente ante tal capacidad el calor generado por los componentes es una pregunta crucial, por ello Asus logra con su disipador mantener un rendimiento excelente.

Internamente, los Ryzen 9 6900HX suponen una pequeña mejora respecto de la gama Ryzen 5000, aunque la competencia ahora es feroz y Alder Lake ofrece más rendimiento puro (con más del doble de consumo, eso sí). No obstante, este procesador es capaz de acompañar a la RTX 3080 Ti sin problemas, ofreciendo un excelente rendimiento junto a unas temperaturas bastante contenidas. Los 64 GB de DDR5 o los 4 TB de RAID 0 PCIe 4.0 no son más que guindas que acompañan a este exclusivo pastel. El problema de este tipo de equipos es que suelen funcionar como demostración de fuerza e ingeniería, y eso supone que el precio a pagar sea realmente elevado, inasumible para la gran mayoría. Poca gente se gasta 5.000 euros en un portátil, pero tampoco es la intención de este modelo el convertirse en un superventas. El ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650 es uno de esos equipos que llaman la atención, no solo por su diseño, sino por sus prestaciones y funciones.

El ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 se ha mostrado como un magnífico equipo portátil. Las pruebas de rendimiento son las que quedan por comentar. Las comentaremos aquí para poner en valor algunos puntos especialmente interesantes. Por ejemplo, la unidad NVMe SSD RAID 0 de 2 + 2 TB tiene un rendimiento de 11.437 MB/s en lectura secuencial y de 9.657 MB/s en escritura secuencial. Es bestial, vamos. En Cinebench R23 tenemos un máximo de 15.000 puntos en multithread y de 1.570 en single thread con valores habituales en torno a los 13.000 puntos y a los 1.470 puntos respectivamente con funcionamiento menos óptimo que una prueba aislada. Alder Lake-H sigue siendo mejor en single thread, pero las diferencias se reducen y, en multi thread las cosas están muy igualadas, con unos benchmarks siendo favorables a AMD y otras a Intel. AMD ha superado la prueba y ha demostrado que el Ryzen 9 6900HX puede ser un procesador excelente para equipar un portátil de alto rendimiento, eficiente y todoterreno.

El diseño se ha mejorado respecto a la generación anterior, con marcos más ajustados, fabricación impecable y añadiendo detalles como el reposamuñecas. La calidad de periféricos es top, especialmente su audio de 6 altavoces Dolby y triple micrófono. Teclado y touchpad son de gran calidad, pero limitados por su ubicación y tamaño, no tan cómodos como nos normales, pero no se puede tener todo. Nos ha sorprendido su gran autonomía superior a 5 h con las dos pantallas encendidas, manteniéndose al nivel de opciones normales. ¿Cuánto hay que pagar para tener el Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 en nuestro escritorio? Pues 5000€ es su precio, cifra similar a otros portátiles gaming de nueva generación con DDR5, esta vez con 64 GB y 4TB RAID 0. Una cifra astronómica, pero viendo lo que lleva y su diseño único, mejor éste que un equipo “normal” por la experiencia única que ofrece.

El ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 es un equipo que, básicamente, coge los mejores componentes del mercado, los mejores materiales de fabricación y uno de los mejores sistemas de refrigeración para portátiles que existen y lo comprime todo en un equipo relativamente compacto y le otorga, además, un doble panel para maximizar tu productividad en trabajos multitarea (ya sea productividad o en gaming, como puede ser un streaming). Sabemos que, a priori, la ubicación del teclado puede parecer algo incómoda pero, la verdad, es que te acostumbras con muchísima facilidad y cuenta con la ventaja de que no vas a tocar accidentalmente el touchpad como ocurre con las distribuciones accidentales. En lo referente al rendimiento, con esta configuración está claro que no va a ser ningún problema, bajo ninguna circunstancia ni para realizar ningún tipo de tarea por ardua que sea. Estéticamente hablando la verdad es que nos gusta más esta línea más sobria y minimalista de ROG, que nos permite tener un equipo más discreto para llevárnoslo a la oficina o clase,
