Although by no means a top performer, the Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor and 2GB of DDR2 Ram provide a stable base for this 17in notebook. And with the Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS graphics card, it’s powerful enough for the demands of both the Aero Glass interface used by the supplied Vista Home Premium and for playing DVDs. But this graphics card isn’t exactly high end and gamers will find it leaves something to be desired, particularly for recent games with high levels of detail. As well as the 17" widescreen display for movies and home entertainment, the MSI EX700 also features HDMI output, which increasingly essential for the home laptop. You also get VGA output, a firewire connection and an SD/MS/MMC slot on the front along with 3 USB ports which is essential for those USB extras for the home desktop. Its power as a home entertainer makes up somewhat for it's impotency as a work based machine. Carrying this 3.4KG monster from the office up the hill to my home was enough to persuade me that the MSI EX700 would sit permanently on the desk. The inclusion of a numeric keypad- something I have never missed on a laptop- has made the rest of the keyboard cramped. Bizarrely a casualty of this is the full stop button, which is so small a magnifying glass was needed to identify it.

All the rest is top quality and top speed. Price for tested MSI EX620X-04EU is little bit higher compared to similar notebooks. This is above all, consequence of Blue-ray reader that is included in the package. If you do like this model but you don’t need Blue-ray reader you can go for EX620X-052EU model that has similar configuration (slightly smaller hard disk and no Blue-ray) and spare 150€.

Today we're taking a look at the EX620, a 16in entertainment notebook that on paper seems to have it all: an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, discrete ATI video card, Blu-ray drive, Dolby Home Theater audio and a speaker system supported by an inbuilt subwoofer. MSI has gone to town on its EX620 multimedia notebook in terms of features and has made it very affordable into the bargain. This makes it a sensible option for those looking for good all-rounder, but little flaws like the awkward keyboard layout and only average styling, screen and speakers are worth bearing in mind before you buy.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) se fundó en 1986 en Taiwán. MSI es especialmente conocida como fabricante de placas base y tarjetas gráficas para PC, pero también ofrece accesorios informáticos, sistemas completos, placas base, tarjetas gráficas, portátiles, PC de sobremesa, monitores y otros componentes. Sin embargo, en Alemania la marca Microstar pertenece a la empresa Medion. MSI es conocida por sus productos para juegos y ha desarrollado una amplia gama de portátiles y PC de sobremesa para juegos. La empresa también trabaja en estaciones de trabajo, servidores y automatización industrial. MSI tiene oficinas en Norteamérica, Europa, Asia y Australia.

Muchos juegos son difícilmente ejecutables con estos adaptadores gráficos o se ejecutan de manera muy lenta.

ATI Radeon Xpress X1270: La Radeon Xpress X1270 (RS690M) es una tarjeta gráfica integrada en placa para portátiles y según AMD optimizada para una buena relación precio/valor. Está basada en el diseño X700 pero con menos tuberías píxel y vertex.
Los diferentes RS600 y RS690 (Xpress X1200, X1250, y X1270) ofrecen el mismo núcleo gráfico, pero pueden tener una velocidad de reloj distinta. Aún así el rendimiento debería ser comparable. 

Estos procesadores gráficos pueden mostrar únicamente juegos antiguos, fluidamente.  Juegos actuales pueden ser presentados con detalles sustancialmente reducidos.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400: Esta es una tarjeta de video gráfica DirectX 10 de ATI y un competidor directo de la tarjeta de video NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS para laptops.  Esto significaría que la tarjeta es capaz de representar todos los juegos modernos en resolución media y sin Antialiasing sin interrupciones de movimiento. Debido a Avivo HD videoengine, el Chip acelera HD Video like HD DVD, Blu-ray.

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS es la sucesora con DirectX 10 de GeForce Go 7400 para laptops y es tecnológicamente más lenta que la tarjeta de video 8400M GT.  El rendimiento es ligeramente mayor que el 7400 y por lo tanto puede representar juegos actuales fluidamente con detalles reducidos/resoluciones.  Para personas que juegan ocasionalmente, puede ser suficiente. 

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470: Una HD 3450 con frecuencia más alta es sucesora de la HD 2400 XT, pero con DirectX 10.1 y frecuencias más altas gracias al nuevo proceso de 55nm. Las funciones de vídeo del Avivo HD permiten la decodificación de videos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit",  SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep,  LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.

T7500: El Core 2 Duo T7500 es un Core 2 Duo basado en arquitectura Merom con 4 MB de Cache de nivel 2. Se situa en la gama media (en 2009) y rinde a la par que los modernos P7550 o Turion II Ultra M640/M660.

P7350: Procesador Core 2 Duo de nivel básico con Cache de 3 MB Nivel 2 y debido al TDP de 25 Watt también es adecuado para portátiles de 13 pulgadas.
