Ofrece rendimiento de sobremesa de gama alta en formato transportable, con una pantalla Mini-LED de muy alta calidad. Sin embargo, este equipo está alejado de lo que entendemos por portátil al uso y desde el diseño contundente y pesado hasta la escasa autonomía lo penalizan en exceso. MSI tiene en el Raider A18 HX A9W a un auténtico campeón de rendimiento portátil. La elección del procesador AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D y la GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 son solo una parte de la ecuación a la que hay que sumar la unidad SSD PCIe Gen5 x4 o la pantalla Mini LED 4K de 18’’. La refrigeración está perfectamente dimensionada para sacar todo el partido a la GPU RTX 5090 y casi todo el partido a la CPU. Decimos “casi” porque hay equipos como el Lenovo Legion 9i de 10th Gen, que pueden llegar a los 280W de disipación conjunta, al menos sobre el papel, a falta de probarlo en nuestro laboratorio. Es un portátil sobresaliente en muchos aspectos, aunque con algunas fisuras. Si fuera un equipo más modesto en posicionamiento no seríamos tan escrupulosos, pero la temperatura de unos 48°C en la parte central del teclado o la presencia de acabados en policarbonato en algunas partes del chasis hacen que no sea sobresaliente en todos.

Resulta curioso que MSI haya elegido su serie Raider en lugar de la Titan para dar vida a semejante bestia, efectivamente, es el portátil para juegos más rápido del mercado en este momento. El Ryzen 9 9955HX3D es un portento en todas las resoluciones, extrayendo más FPS que ningún otro portátil que hayamos probado, incluso en 2400p. Es más de un 10% superior en 1080p a su equivalente con Intel 285HX, casi un 10% en 1440p y más de un 5% en 2400p. A semejantes cifras se le suma un rendimiento bruto espectacular, también superando a la CPU tope de gama de Intel con más de 40.000 puntos en CB R23. La 3D V-caché no solo hace su trabajo en juegos como vemos. A cambio, tenemos un consumo de la CPU bastante elevado; 145W en la configuración más agresiva, pero es que el 285HX alcanza los 175W, así que la CPU Zen 5 también es más eficiente que su rival.
