Ya en su día, cuando probamos el Flow X13, cuestionamos la necesidad de integrar una GTX 1650 dedicada debido a que se podía convertir en una opción más portable aún sin ella, y usar la RTX 3080 externa cuando quisiéramos jugar. Esa filosofía se pierde en el ROG Flow X16, ya que tenemos en su interior toda una RTX 3070 Ti que, aun con su limitación a 125W, ofrece unas cifras de rendimiento elevadas que hacen que no tenga mucho sentido cargar con una GPU externa como la RTX 3080. Eso sí, la posibilidad que ofrece el XG Mobile Interface, además de poder usarse como un USB-C 3.1 normal, es la de poder aumentar la potencia en el futuro, si ASUS lanza en el futuro una ROG XG Mobile basada en gráficos de nueva generación como la RTX 4080 o RTX 4090 por ejemplo, se podría utilizar para tener GPUs de nueva generación en este equipo. Por tanto, como equipo portátil que podamos convertir en una suerte de "sobremesa", la opción del Flow X13 nos parece más equilibrada, dejando a este Flow X16 como un portátil convertible que ya es lo suficientemente potente por sí mismo como para necesitar de gráficas externas.

Tanto la CPU como la GPU están a la altura a nivel profesional o gaming, permite disfrutar de todos los juegos actuales o programas de edición, aunque eso sí, deberemos conectar el transformador. El modo tableta es muy llamativo, permitiéndonos disfrutar del apartado multimedia cómodamente en el salón o desarrollar nuestra profesión con su pantalla táctil de alta calidad. En todos los apartados cumple a la perfección, teclado, touchpad, refrigeración, rendimiento, pero en la pantalla encontramos ciertos puntos que debemos mencionar. Si bien para un uso profesional cumple gracias a su 100% DCI-P3 de cobertura, encontramos fallos en la uniformidad del color o la iluminación, donde especialistas del diseño acabaran observando estas diferencias. Si bien para un usuario normal que desee jugar o que haga un uso profesional no especialista, estas diferencias no serán perceptibles. El uso de la tarjeta externa 3080 XG MOBILE me resulta innecesaria, sobre todo por la inversión a realizar y el rendimiento obtenido. En lo segundo rinde casi exactamente idéntica que la RTX 3070 Ti que incorpora el sistema. El Asus ROG Flow X16 es un impresionante portátil gaming que destaca tanto por sus prestaciones como por la posibilidad de girar su pantalla y convertirlo en una mega tablet. Para esto último, ofrece obviamente una pantalla táctil, la cual con sus 16 pulgadas es realmente amplia. Además, su panel Mini LED con resolución WQXGA y 165 Hz es simplemente sensacional, difícilmente mejorable en un portátil de esta generación sin dar el salto a OLED. En lo que respecta al rendimiento, la combinación del AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS con memorias DDR5 a 4.800 MHz y con los gráficos Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti de 125W ofrecen un excelente rendimiento para disfrutar de los juegos más modernos en su pantalla, destacando igualmente el SSD M.2 PCIe 4.0 de 1 TB y altas prestaciones y a la excelente conectividad con Wi-Fi 6E y USB 3.2 Gen2. Podemos encontrar a la venta el Asus ROG Flow X16 aquí analizado en la web oficial por 3.299 euros, un precio que realmente está al alcance de pocos bolsillos, pero no debemos olvidarnos de sus excelentes prestaciones combinadas con la excepcional pantalla táctil 360º.

Again, currently, I’d nominate the ASUS ROG Flow X16 as my laptop of the year so far. At its price point of PHP 164,995, I’d say it eakes out every single peso you’d spend on this laptop, it’s that good. So if you’re looking for a no compromise, media, creation, gaming, and portable laptop, the ASUS ROG Flow X16 should be at the top of your list.

Continuamos repasando todo el catálogo de ROG en equipos y todos coinciden en un mismo denominador común, la excelencia. Centrándonos en este ASUS ROG Flow X16 nos enamora la versatilidad que le otorgan sus bisagras de 360 grados que nos permitirán ponerlo en modo atril o, el que más nos gusta, en un modo Tablet super cómodo y práctico para el sofá. Esto obviamente no sería tan interesante con un panel mediocre, pero ASUS ROG es consciente de esto y monta un panel exquisito en todos los sentidos, sin llegar a embarcarse en la subida considerable de precio que supondría un OLED. Tras completar la review del ASUS ROG Flow X16 (2023), llega el momento de sacar conclusiones. Estéticamente, estamos ante un portátil sobrio y elegante que fácilmente engaña a quien lo tiene cerca, pues no parece que ofrezca todo lo que realmente ofrece, para bien o para mal. Y es que, para empezar, cuenta con una pantalla de 16 pulgadas sobre un chasis que realmente compacto, que hasta hace muy poco no podría albergar más de 14 pulgadas y que pasaría 3 kg con sus prestaciones. Pero no, con 2,2 kg de peso y un grosor de 19,4 - 21,9 mm, es un modelo realmente portable. Concretamente, ofrece un excepcional panel ROG Nebula HDR Display con tecnología Mini-LED que lleva su luminosidad y colores a un grandioso nivel.

Las mejoras le han sentado bien al ROG FLOW X16, con un diseño clásico y aspecto premium. Con una pantalla táctil y capacidad de convertirse en tablet es realmente cómodo para trabajar o para desplazamientos. Y gracias a la renovación de sus componentes con un i9-13900H junto a una NVIDIA RTX 4070 LAPTOP tenemos potencia asegurada para todo. Evidentemente, para ello necesitamos hacer uso del transformador, pero para usarlo como tablet en trabajos u ofimática tenemos la GPU integrada con un consumo muy bajo. La cantidad de puertos es suficiente para conectar nuestros dispositivos o incluso podemos aumentarla con un HUB. Además, podremos actualizar nuestro equipo con una GPU externa gracias a su puerto dedicado o incluso hacer uso de monitor externo. El uso de un teclado o mando para juegos es totalmente recomendable por sus temperaturas que harían la experiencia incómoda.

Thankfully, there are two SODIMM slots, which work with DDR5 RAM and support 64GB in dual-channel mode. You even get two M.2 PCIe x4 slots for Gen 4 SSDs. So currently, there are no obvious competitors to this notebook. Unfortunately, this means that ASUS can do whatever it wants with the pricing of this product. However, if you can afford to get one, the ROG Flow X16 (GV601, 2023) will not disappoint you.

But the solid build quality and excellent ergonomics, the uncompromised IO, the punchy speakers, the overall performance capabilities, and even the fair battery life are also strong selling points for this series. At the same time, though, this Flow demands a premium over the clamshell Asus ROG Zephyrus lineups, and is only available with mid-tier GPU specs. That means the top-specced 2023 generation is pretty much on par in gaming and GPU capabilities with the top-tier 2022 model, and that might not suffice for some of you. Hence, a 4080 configuration would have addressed this part. But thing is, if performance is what you’re primarily after, you’re most likely better off with something else anyway.

Intel Raptor Lake-H:
