Actualización a Kaby Lake. El portátil HP de 14" tiene un fuerte procesador, bajo nivel de ruido, bajo desarrollo de temperatura, y una pantalla IPS. Suena bien. Sin embargo, el Pavilion tiene algunos defectos.

Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. Si la frecuencia es demasiado lenta, la gente sensible podría experimentar problemas visuales, dolores de cabeza e incluso ver parpadeos.

Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. El Pavilion sólo difiere del modelo Skylake en procesador y disco duro. El 14" de HP trae un procesador Core i5 de Kaby Lake que debería satisfacer las necesidades de la mayoría de usuarios. El portátil puede funcionar en silencio cuando la opción BIOS Ventilador Siempre Activo se desactiva. Lo que es más, apenas se calienta. Trae un HDD de 500 GB. Habría que abrir la carcasa para cambiarlo por un SSD. El HP Pavilion no es particularmente sencillo en ese aspecto.

Los usuarios que quieran un 14" silencioso junto con una potente CPU para el uso doméstico pueden quedar satisfechos con el Pavilion.

No podemos dar otra razón de compra para el pequeño portátil. HP ha hecho demasiados recortes en todos los componentes. Aunque la pantalla instalada es un modelo IPS de ángulo de visión estable, sólo tiene un brillo reducido y una superficie lustrosa. Un portátil de 14" se hace para el uso móvil. Sin embargo, el aguante de batería del Pavilion lo impide. Más allá, HP sólo instala un puerto Fast Ethernet. Gigabit Ethernet es el estándar actual. Además, instala un lento módulo WiFi en el portátil. Los compradores pueden esperar un SSD en vez de un HDD por un precio de casi 600 Euros. Y por último, HP sólo ofrece un año de garantía.
