EN→ESIf I were to judge the XPS 14 based purely on its specs and design alone, it would be my favorite Windows laptop available today. But I swear, I can't live with its keyboard issues. I had to seriously slow down my typing just to get this review written, and even then I still had to back up and make more corrections than usual. Dell is so close to making a PC that’s a true MacBook Pro competitor, it's a shame a simple keyboard issue holds the XPS 14 back from true greatness.

EN→ESThe Dell XPS 14 with LCD display is, in some ways, an excellent value. I hesitate to call a retail MSRP of $1,409.99 affordable, but in 2026 it’s definitely more of a mid-range price than it used to be. And the entry-level XPS 14 retains most of the perks found in more expensive configurations. It has a great haptic touchpad, lots of Thunderbolt connectivity, and a beautiful design. Intel’s Core Ultra 5 325 is a weakness at this price point, however. $1,400 is enough to snag a number of alternative laptops with AMD Ryzen 7/9 AI or Intel Core Series 7 chips, and most of these will have a significant advantage. The integrated GPU performance is more competitive but still not impressive.

EN→ESWith the XPS 14, Dell corrects many of the missteps it took with the previous 14 Premium. I love its sleek looks, solid feel and trim dimensions. And I love the fact that it's more than half a pound lighter than the tank that was the Dell 14 Premium. Dell must be feeling pretty proud about the XPS 14 because it slapped a premium price on this premium laptop. Apple does the same thing with its 14-inch MacBook Pro, but the M5 processor bested the Core Ultra X7 358H in the higher-end XPS 14 I tested with the OLED display. The two laptops make a great comparison because the OLED XPS 14 and M5 MacBook Pro we tested each cost $1,950. In this head-to-head, the MacBook Pro wins in terms of both power and efficiency, with better performance scores on nearly every test and longer battery life. And I still favor the MacBook Pro's overall design, even if it is a bit heavier. The XPS 14's return is a triumphant one overall, but the MacBook Pro is still the better premium laptop for creators.

EN→ESDell listened to its fans this year and brought back the XPS name. That's already a win, but a good thermal solution, powerful processors, and a chassis redesign that makes it even more futuristic seal the deal. It feels more MacBook Pro-ish than the tapered base of last year's Dell 14 Premium, offers plenty of battery life, and has good screens, whether you opt for IPS or OLED. If you need graphical prowess for content creation or gaming, go for the Core Ultra X7 358H, but the more affordable Core Ultra 7 355 is plenty for general computing tasks. And with more powerful processors, you also get an NPU for Copilot+. I know Dell apologized for how AI-centric last year's marketing was, but some of the features (especially the webcam ones) are things I use every day, and it feels weird when I use a laptop that doesn't have them. This is a superb laptop at any tier; it's just a shame that computer component pricing, as it is, might push it out of reach for many.

EN→ESDell’s XPS 14 is an elite ultraportable done right. The laptop's premium materials look and feel the part, its performance is potent on Intel’s Panther Lake platform, and its battery life holds up even in our test configuration with an OLED touch screen. Dell’s practicality-focused refinements have pushed the XPS design forward, leaving its limited port selection as the only major compromise, one common among thin-and-light performance laptops.

EN→ESThe Dell XPS 14 with OLED display is a luxurious Windows laptop with solid CPU and integrated GPU performance. I also like the large, responsive touchpad and commitment to high-speed connectivity, which includes Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7. The OLED display is gorgeous and the built-in audio is among the best available from a Windows laptop. Dell still needs to improve the keyboard, which feels more shallow and less premium than many competitors. All of this results in a laptop that’s outstanding but just a hair away from being my top pick. The Dell XPS 14 looks spectacular and proves enjoyable to use, but I didn’t like it as much as the Asus ExpertBook Ultra, which is lighter and has a better keyboard. Still, the new Dell XPS 14 might be for you if you’re all-in on Thunderbolt 4, or you crave Windows laptop with an elegant and refined look.

EN→ESThe new Dell XPS 14 (DAA14260) is less about dramatic reinvention and more about disciplined refinement. It is thinner but feels solid and exudes quality. It is also powerful without feeling thermally stressed. It is quiet without sacrificing sustained performance, and it's efficient without feeling underpowered.

How long does the 2026 Dell XPS 14 battery life last on a full charge with that Intel Panther Lake chip? As part of our Dell XPS 14 review, we put it through our Tom’s Guide battery test and compared it to the longest-lasting laptops we’ve reviewed. In this video, Tony goes over the battery life results for both the Dell XPS 14 OLED and Dell XPS 14 LED machines, how the stamina stacks up against the previous non-XPS generation, and also gives some context on the power of Panther Lake.

EN→ESAll of my testing has confirmed my hope: The Dell XPS 14 is back in a big way. Just not enough to make your next buying decision an outright simple one. I used to recommend the XPS 14 for those who wanted a premium Windows laptop with good performance, a great screen and typing experience and super-long battery life, but the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x still fits that better than even the newest XPS 14. Instead, the XPS 14 is best recommended for those looking for battery life champion endurance in a great chassis. This is a phenomenal win for folks who use and love Windows laptops, as Dell’s resurgence and return to the conversation gives you more choice. Those looking for laptops that can go the distance in style should definitely give it a strong look.

EN→ESThe Dell XPS 14 (2026) might be a modern-day “New Coke” situation, but I’m glad the company listened to user feedback and returned to what has always worked for this iconic laptop line. Not only is this a brilliant redemption story, it’s also a fantastic Windows laptop that offers stunning performance and strong battery life in an elegant, refined design. If you aren't tied to the Windows ecosystem and want a notebook that offers even stronger raw performance and longer battery life, the MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) remains an excellent alternative. This is especially true considering the entry-level MacBook Pro costs $600 less than the XPS 14 configuration I reviewed here.

After the boneheaded decision to kill its XPS brand at CES 2025, Dell is back this year with its tail between its legs and some lovely new XPS laptops to show off.

EN→ESI personally didn’t lose much sleep over the XPS rebranding last year, the way many of my colleagues did, but I’m sure the XPS’s triumphant return from exile will make plenty of people happy. What I care far more about, though, is the redesign of these two laptops, particularly the Function keys and the trackpad. Those fixes alone make this the one laptop I’m most excited to test out in the next few weeks, and if Intel Panther Lake can live up to its hype, these two models just might be the laptops to buy in 2026.

EN→ESIt feels like only a year ago that Dell killed all branding on its laptops, telling journalists we were wrong when we almost universally told them they were crazy. That's because it was only a year ago, but the company has seen the error of its ways and it's bringing back XPS, starting with a new Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16. In a CES 2026 pre-briefing, Dell reps didn't mince words. It completely owned the blunder of discontinuing the most recognizable brand in Windows consumer laptops.
