The 3K screen provides excellent colour accuracy, the graphics performance is enough to tackle heavy workloads and it’s portable enough to take on your travels. Is it good enough to thwart the MacBook Pro? Not quite. Apple’s laptop offers superior battery life, a marginally better performance and a more luxurious design. Nevertheless, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra runs it close, and is one of the best attempts I’ve seen from a Windows laptop in the creativity market. The high price is a problem, however, costing upwards of £3000/$3000 if you want the best specs for a high performance. The Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED represents better value and the Razer Blade 16 can be found with similar specs at a cheaper price. The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is an excellent laptop, owing to its impressively thin-and-light body, high-quality feel and decent selection of ports. A luxurious display takes this machine to another level, especially against some performance-focused rivals. It hasn’t fallen at the keyboard hurdles either, with the keys offering surprisingly good travel and satisfying feedback. If you’re a Samsung fan, there’s little to turn you away. It’s not perfect though. Those looking for a more complete Windows package should look to the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (2022), an all-rounder that hits many of the same notes but lacks some of the Galaxy Book 3 Pro laptop’s luxury. Those wanting performance, strong battery life and high-quality materials, as well as quieter fans, should look to the MacBook Air (2022). This Samsung laptop may not be the best thin-and-light machine around but, amongst strong competition, it’s earned a spot in the conversation.

All of which brings us to what is a rather mixed verdict for the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro, at least the Core i5 model tested here. While the design is lovely and the screen exemplary, the performance levels are middling while the fan is a little noisy. In addition, the battery life is a far cry from the long-lasting M2 MacBook Air. El Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 está disponible a la venta en dos configuraciones distintas (a la espera de que tengamos en España la que incorpora conexión 5G). La primera de ellas con una memoria interna de 512 GB y precio de 2.000 euros y la segunda doblando este espacio interno y subiendo el precio hasta los 2.200 euros. En definitiva, estamos ante un portátil muy versátil y bien construido, con la pantalla OLED como principal atractivo. Eso sí, sigo sin encontrarle tanto uso al formato híbrido de girar la pantalla dentro de Windows, sobre todo con un formato tan grande como son las 16 pulgadas de este modelo. También cuentas con el interesante añadido de su lápiz óptico, pero el hecho de no tener su propio compartimento en el diseño del portátil me parece que le quita mucha practicidad. Si tienes esos 2.000 euros que cuesta el modelo y buscas un portátil con panel táctil te encontrarás una buena (aunque cara) compra.

El Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 es, en líneas generales, un dispositivo redondo. De hecho, y dejando de lado el precio, apenas tiene puntos negativos que hagan de este equipo sea una opción descartable. Su pantalla, por ejemplo, es excelente, tanto en tamaño como en calidad, y su diseño no deja indiferente; pese a que es un equipo de gran tamaño, es ligero y delgado, y resulta bastante cómodo transportarlo. El Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 también cumple en cuanto a rendimiento, con un i7 de decimotercera generación que hace un muy buen trabajo y unas suficientes 16 GB de RAM para aquellos que busquen un equipo con el que trabajar en tareas de edición o diseño no demasiado exigentes. Ahora bine, en este caso, he echado en falta la posibilidad de escoger entre diferentes configuraciones. Es decir, al comprar el equipo, solo podemos escoger entre 512 GB o 1 TB de almacenamiento interno. No hay opción de ampliar la memoria RAM, ni de escoger una gráfica no integrada. Repito, la configuración inicial no es mala, en absoluto, pero puede ser insuficiente para aquellos usuarios más exigentes. Pero, ¿por 2.100 euros es una opción recomendable? Es un producto caro, pero teniendo en cuenta las prestaciones que ofrece en cuanto a pantalla, formato y hardware, el Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 no es una mala opción de compra. Es, de hecho, una alternativa bastante interesante a equipos como el LG Gram 16T90Q-G, que incluso con un i7 de 12ª generación está disponible a un precio similar al portátil Samsung. Ahora bien, si buscas un portátil con Windows 11 que no sea necesariamente convertible, hay alternativas más interesantes a este Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, incluso, dentro de la propia Samsung, como el Galaxy Book 3 Pro.

For what you’re paying, the Book3 Pro 360 offers substantial upgrades over the Book2 Pro 360 as well as some best-of-class features, period. Even if you aren’t as in love with OLEDs as we are, the higher resolution OLED and refresh rate certainly help sell this laptop. Inking, the convertible form factor, its solid audio and webcam experience, and its presence as a 13th-gen Core Evo laptop do too. Buying a Samsung laptop to accompany a Samsung Galaxy phone is an ultimately less compelling need. We do think that the Book3 series offers something unique that maybe only the Asus Vivobook and Zenbook series seem to be consciously addressing: laptops focused on showing off content first and foremost. (Consider the Vivobook Pro 16 OLED as an alternative until we manage to test the latest offerings.) For all it brings to the table, Samsung’s Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 earns one of our first Editor’s Choice awards of 2023.

They stuck to 1080p screens, while rivals were nudging closer to 4K, and had largely plastic builds to keep weight in check – something that didn’t gel with the premium prices. On first look, it seems the Galaxy Book 3 Pro series fixes all that. All three models feel like quality machines thanks to an all-metal construction, and have gorgeous 16:10 AMOLED screens that keep pace with established rivals like Acer and Lenovo. Performance should be a given, too, thanks to the Intel internals. The 14in model in particular feels like a perfect commuter companion, being small and light enough to sling in a bag, yet with enough power to get serious work done.

I'll be frank. My initial impressions of the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra were not great. I ran into software bugs and weird performance problems, not to mention poor battery life and general discomfort while typing. But Samsung has since issued software updates that fixed the few bugs I ran into. I figured out that I needed to switch the display to 60Hz and run in optimized mode to get a good battery-life-to-performance ratio, and gaming performance is now stellar once I realized that Nvidia DLSS works magic on RTX GPUs. While I wish some of these things were a little more obvious out of the box, this sort of tweaking isn't uncommon on Windows machines. On the positive side, all of the unique Samsung Galaxy ecosystem features were as plug-and-play as I could have possibly hoped for. Linking my phone and earbuds was effortless, and I can now use my Tab S7 as a second screen while I'm traveling so I don't have to lose my second monitor productivity. In a nutshell, the things that make the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra unique are the things that work really, really well, and that's a testament to how good of a device Samsung has built. I just wish it worked with an S Pen.

It wouldn’t be totally unfair to say last year’s Galaxy Book laptops were middle-of-the-road machines. They stuck to 1080p screens, while rivals were nudging closer to 4K, and had largely plastic builds to keep weight in check – something that didn’t gel with the premium prices. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro series fixes all that. The 16in model is a well-built machine thanks to its all-metal construction, has a gorgeous 16:10 OLED display that keeps pace with big-name rivals, and desktop performance is really rather tasty thanks to those Intel internals. The keyboard isn’t perfect, though. Battery life could also be better, and on-the-go gamers will be more interested in the Galaxy Book3 Ultra and its dedicated Nvidia GPU. There’s nothing here we feel particularly deserves the “Pro” moniker, either. For a commuter companion that doesn’t skimp on screen space, though, it does a fantastic job.

80% Samsung Galaxy Book 3 review: a great laptop if the price is right

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 is less consistent than we'd like in areas, but the lower-end models sure do provide a classy experience on a tighter budget. It has the Samsung style we associate with more expensive laptops, and for many folks the basic spec will do the job just fine. That's where this laptop is a winner. Thanks to higher upgrade costs than you'd usually see from Lenovo or Acer, however, the shortcomings do start to stick out more if you pay for a specced-up model. That's where this laptop loses, as that includes poor colour saturation, a highly flexible keyboard plate, and a plastic touchpad surface. In summary, therefore, if you can find the Galaxy Book 3 in its entry-level spec for a bargain price then it's got the style to punch well above the competition. Just don't pay extra for the step-up models which then fall down in various areas where Samsung's other models in the range would do a better job – as would the competition.

All in all, the Galaxy Book 3 is a bit of a mixed bag. There are things that I love about it, the build quality and styling are top-notch, the speakers are good and the performance is great. The port selection is also above average and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity is nice to have. However, a lot of corners have been cut to hit its more accessible price point. The display is fine, but at 1080p resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate, it's far from impressive. The keyboard has no backlight, and at this price, that's borderline unacceptable. The webcam is also very middle-of-the-road, as is the battery life. On the whole, it's a decent laptop. It performs excellently, it's slim and lightweight, and it feels like a quality piece of kit. But for the model that I tested, with a retail price approaching £900, it doesn't do much to separate itself from the competition.

i9-13900H: CPU móvil basada en Alder Lake con 6 núcleos de rendimiento y 8 núcleos eficientes. Los núcleos de rendimiento ofrecen hyper threading, lo que permite procesar 20 hilos. La CPU alcanza una frecuencia de reloj de hasta 5,4 GHz. En comparación con el i9-13900HK no admite overclocking sencillo, pero en su lugar dispone de un conjunto completo de funciones de gestión vPro.

i5-1335U: CPU móvil basada en Alder Lake con 2 núcleos de rendimiento y 8 núcleos eficientes. Los núcleos de rendimiento ofrecen hyper threading, lo que permite procesar 12 hilos. Los relojes de la CPU van de 0,9 a 4,6 GHz. El TDP está especificado en 15 vatios.

i7-1355U: CPU móvil basada en Alder Lake con 2 núcleos de rendimiento y 8 núcleos eficientes. Los núcleos de rendimiento ofrecen hyper threading, lo que permite procesar 12 hilos. Los relojes de la CPU van de 1,2 a 5 GHz. El TDP está especificado en 15 vatios.
