By pricing it at S$1,600+, Samsung placed its Galaxy S25 Edge against other premium Android phones that are equally powerful, long-lasting, with magical photo-taking capabilities and pleasant designs. We like you, Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, because you’re fun, you’re attractive, and you feel terrific in our hands. But alas, we cannot bring you home — you’re not going to survive the day, after all.

Using the Galaxy S25 Edge for the past couple of weeks has cleared up some of my concerns with this new form factor — one we’re likely to see from Apple in the near future, too. Battery life is alright. Using a thin phone really does feel different. Subtracting 1.5 millimeters in thickness actually does make it appreciably easier to carry. The S25 Edge makes a kind of sense for someone who likes a large screen but not the bulk and weight of a big phone. But this person should also be someone who’s easy on a battery, and isn’t the kind of person who just wants to buy a phone and not have to think about replacing it (or more likely its battery) for as long as possible. Those are some pretty serious caveats. At the very least, I encourage you to go find this phone at your wireless carrier or Best Buy or whatever and just pick it up. It doesn’t seem that impressively slim or light on paper, but you might just be amazed at how it feels in your hand.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a remarkably lightweight phone, and it feels different than anything else I’ve tried. The phone offers top-notch performance and stays cool under pressure, but the battery life isn’t great, and the charging speed is too slow. This phone fills a niche for Samsung fans, but it won’t win over a new audience or raise eyebrows among the competition. It’s just a slimmer option for folks who weren’t satisfied with the current Galaxy lineup. If the Galaxy S25 Plus is too thick, or the Galaxy S25 Ultra is too much, the Edge fits neatly in between.

On its merits, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge does exactly what it sets out to do: Provide a flagship-like experience for slightly less money than the most expensive one, at a much more appealing form factor. And if you want a super-thin, flagship-like Galaxy smartphone, this is it. The physical design of the S25 Edge is, indeed, a selling point if you care a lot about phones being thin and light. I personally don’t find my regular iPhone 16 to be prohibitively bulky, but I can’t lie: Using it after using the S25 Edge makes it feel that way. Thanks to a high-end chipset, you get comparable performance to Samsung’s best phone, too. Battery life is definitely something you’ll have to compromise on, and in my experience, the display isn’t great in bright sunlight, but this is a solid phone in almost every other way.

Over the weekend, I watched a documentary on Coco Chanel, and one of the most interesting aspects of her life was her return to the runway in the mid-1950s. At the age of 71—when most people either retire or give up—Chanel made a remarkable comeback. Despite initial skepticism, her return collection reintroduced the now-iconic tweed suit and restored her to the top ranks of haute couture. I felt something similar when I used Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge—a familiar phone that feels progressive, bold, and trailblazing at the same time. The Galaxy S25 Edge is more than just a thin and lightweight phone; it reflects how smartphones may evolve in the future, becoming its own brand ambassador—just as Coco Chanel was to her creations. Here’s my review of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

Overall, this phone is definitely one you should consider, or at the very least you should not be afraid of trying it out. This phone is basically a Galaxy S25 Plus, with a smaller battery and one less camera. If you don't care about telephoto photography, then there's only one thing to worry about. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will cost you $1,099.99 from the Samsung Store on Amazon, through Samsung's own online store, or from all the major carriers. If you need a big battery, your choice is simple — get the S25 Plus (for the same starting price as the Edge). However, if you want something that is sleeker and more stylish, then this phone is definitely worth considering. I was surprised at how much I got out of this phone. I was not gentle on it. I would argue I was harsher with it (by design) than most other phones I test.

Despite that, though, it’s the compromises Samsung has made on camera hardware that ultimately prove the Galaxy S25 Edge’s undoing. The idea of paying over £1,000 for a phone that doesn’t have a telephoto camera and can’t zoom beyond 10x just doesn’t sit right in 2025. Not when phones costing considerably less than this are beginning to include telephoto lenses as standard. And that’s a shame because, otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge makes a fairly strong case for the skinny phone as an alternative to the mainstream. Performance is excellent, the display is gorgeous and even the battery life, though the weakest of its siblings, isn’t disastrously bad. If Samsung could have squeezed a telephoto camera in here, I’d be recommending it without question. As things stand, however, as interesting and impressive as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is, I don’t think it’s the version you want to spend your money on. Maybe Samsung will get it right next year.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the thinnest smartphones you can buy, and if all you want are the bragging rights that come with owning such a device, this is the phone for you. At $1,099, Samsung’s ultra-thin smartphone sits in an odd place in the Galaxy S25 lineup. There’s the regular S25 at $799, the Galaxy S25 Plus at $999, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra at $1,299. Beyond the slim form factor, the S25 Edge comes with similar specs to the rest of the lineup, a similarly-sized screen, a main 200MP camera ripped right off the S25 Ultra, and a battery that can’t last a full day. It’s Samsung’s answer to the iPhone 17 Air, Apple’s rumored take on an ultra-thin smartphone set to in iPhone 17 series.

Most of the time, the Galaxy S25 Edge is even more limited than a Galaxy Z Flip 6 ($1099.99 at Samsung). Yes, they’re both ambitious form factors, and yes, they both have just two rear cameras compared to Samsung’s usual three, but that feels more like a perk of the Flip and a drawback of the Edge. See, I like the fact that I can grab Samsung’s most recent flip phone, slip it into my pocket, and go about my day. When I need to check on something, I can usually do it from the power-sipping Flex Window, which helps ease my inevitable battery anxiety. I can let the two rear cameras do more than their usual workload, doubling as high-resolution selfie shooters with reliable wide and ultrawide fields of view. I can even tap into most of the Galaxy AI features I’ve come to rely on, all without ever unfolding the hinge.

Let’s talk about the good parts first. The performance is, by and large, what you expect from premium handsets. A 1440p high-quality AMOLED display paired with the best Qualcomm phone processor available today makes it excel in flagship phone duties. Its key proposition — the 5.8mm body — is a winner in both aesthetics and practicality. Yes, there are real-world advantages of using a slim phone, even if nobody asked for one. Your pinky finger, pockets, and purses will thank you for even considering it, and we do not say that lightly. Tying it all together are the hygiene factors, such as its double Gorilla Glass protection, IP68 rating, fast RAM and storage, an excellent main camera, and software that’s both familiar in terms of user experience and security.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a compelling evolution of the smartphone concept. Its slim form factor is an excellent rebuttal to phones getting too big for pockets, although it’s still too tall to comfortably navigate one-handed. Samsung made minimal compromises in making the S25 Edge. It’s powerful, speedy, and a treat to look at. I miss having a telephoto lens, and the price is steep, but everything that counts either meets or exceeds expectations. If there was a similarly thin handset with the height of a base Galaxy S25 or iPhone 16, I’d seriously consider it as my next phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is an interesting release. The ultra-thin build is certainly impressive, and the device isn’t bad at anything. At $1,100, not being bad at anything really isn’t enough. For the same money, you can get a phone that has a longer-lasting battery and a more versatile camera, and while you will sacrifice the ultra-thin look and feel, you’ll still get a flagship phone with a premium design and what most would consider to be a “thin enough” build. In other words, you’re going to have to decide what’s more important to you. Do you want an industry-leading camera, long-lasting battery, and very premium design, or are you willing to sacrifice some of those things in favor of a thinner build? I suspect most will go for the former.

You'll also get the Samsung One UI 7 experience, which is stuffed to the gils with helpful AI-powered features that were introduced earlier this year. For example, Morning Brief gives you the weather forecast, and brings up any upcoming events for the day from your calendar. All the Galaxy AI features like real-time translation for calls as well as writing and photo editing tools are there. So is Google's Gemini AI assistant, now with camera and screen sharing when using Gemini Live. My 12GB + 256GB Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge review set costs S$1,628, which is the same price as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Of course, the S25 Ultra was released earlier this year, and hence has been discounted slightly. So consumers can now choose between a slimmer, lighter flagship phone — albeit with some cut-down features — and a full-featured, proper flagship phone.

The Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t Samsung’s answer to what everyone wants, it’s their answer to what some users might not even realise they want. A phone that’s not just another spec war participant, but one that shows off what happens when design takes centre stage… even if it means making a few bold trade-offs. In a world where phones are getting heavier, bulkier, and increasingly spec-driven, Samsung has taken a step sideways. They’ve built a flagship that prioritises design, comfort, and portability, and they’ve done it without stripping away the essentials. But being different also means accepting compromises. The battery is fine, not great, and thermals could become an issue for sustained heavy use. The camera is dependable but doesn’t push the envelope. It’s not a phone for everyone, and it’s definitely not meant to be.

Samsung is shooting for the moon with this phone, not in terms of how far its cameras can go, but how far it can bend perception and reality to make you think – and believe – you need the Galaxy S25 Edge, that you must have it, even if logic dictates that you go buy the Galaxy S25 Ultra instead, or the Galaxy S25 Plus maybe. The titanium frame and sharp 5.8 mm dimensions give it a very 007 vibe. But despite whatever side you pick, it is important that the Edge exists, because only then will we know for sure that Samsung is not beat but wants to beat the competition, including Apple which is expected to launch its own slim iPhone in the coming months. The wheels are in motion. The Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t just any phone. The next version could be entirely different. There is an off chance that Samsung might not even launch it.

The Galaxy S25 Edge, for the most part, offers the same amazing experience that you get on the Galaxy S25 and S25+. It also matches the Galaxy S25 Ultra when it comes to the quality of the primary rear camera. And it does all this while fitting everything inside a premium and sublime 5.8mm body that's also lighter than other flagship devices of its size. But there's little here that sets it apart from the rest of the S25 lineup. The only compelling reason to buy it is if an ultra-thin design is your top priority and you're okay with average battery life that demands copious amounts of charging with anything beyond light use.

In many ways, the Galaxy S25 Edge is a knockout product, as it's thinner and lighter than anything you've ever likely seen. But in other ways, the Edge knocks itself out on account of limited battery life, a power level that arguably hinders its form, and a camera arrangement that – in addition to its lack of zoom – doesn't touch upon some best-of-best competitors. Overall, however, the S25 Edge is a glimpse of the future. In a market where 'thin is in' right now, this handset moves away from subtle iterative updates, and brings with it true excitement. It's got its challenges, sure, but Samsung's latest is a major statement of intent that can't be ignored.

I love that the Galaxy S25 Edge has been made. No-one really asked for it, the short battery life makes it less useful than its sibling S25 phones, and the race to make “the thinnest” anything is dull and played out. Yet, it’s the Galaxy S25 series phone I’ve enjoyed the most, and the one I’d want to use long-term. The performance, camera, and screen are among the best you can get today, but what makes the S25 Edge special and so desirable is that it’s all wrapped up in one of the most tactile, ergonomic, and downright cool designs we’ve seen yet. The Galaxy S25 Edge is more than just a thin phone, it’s the exciting start of a new trend, and after spending just a short time with the phone I’m absolutely onboard. The S25 Edge is a divisive phone. I still don't fully grasp the desire to make modern phones thinner than they already are. Particularly if you're like most folks and you throw the thing in a case as soon as you get it (even when accounting for Samsung's new super slim option). Shaving off an extra 1.5mm over the standard S25 doesn't really make a tangible difference in how you use it, unless you consider the phone's reduced battery life a good thing. But as an alternative to the humdrum S25+, suddenly things get a lot more interesting. Samsung's previous middle child costs significantly more than a base S25, but it doesn't have the fancy features like a super high-res main camera or a titanium frame like you get on the S25 Ultra. Really, the S25+'s most attractive feature is a nicely-sized 6.7-inch screen.

Being first on the scene with any new tech counts for a lot, so Samsung gets a big thumbs up for redefining “thin phones” before the likes of Apple could. The Galaxy S25 Edge is fantastically slim and light, yet still packs in flagship-grade power beneath its big, beautiful screen. The OneUI interface is as slick as ever, and that lead lens can take some particularly pleasing photos. Battery life is the elephant in the room. Barely being able to scrape through a single day of moderate use is a disappointment, no two ways about it, and charging speeds are properly pedestrian. The sooner Samsung steps up its game here, the better. That puts the Galaxy S25 Edge in an awkward position. The cheaper S25 Plus isn’t exactly a porker, yet it lasts considerably longer per charge; and if photography matters most, the flagship S25 Ultra isn’t an awful lot more cash.

It's no surprise that Samsung had to settle for plenty of trade-offs for the sake of design. The S25 Edge doesn't want to be better than the S25+ or the S25 Ultra. It's not intended to go head-to-head with the Chinese camera behemoths, either. Instead, Samsung wants an alternative for anyone tired of the huge camera bumps and heavy hardware. In that sense, this uber-slim phone is a breath of fresh air. However, for most users, it may not be a sensible choice. After all, there are quite a few drawbacks. There's no telephoto camera, battery life is barely competitive, charging speed is nothing to write home about, and the speakers aren't amazing. And when you add the price to the equation, it's a hard sell. Still, Samsung might be onto something here. This could very well be the beginning of a new flagship segment with fashionable devices for people who may not need all the hardware features but would appreciate premium design even if it comes at a premium price. Its ultra-slim profile sets it apart from bulkier competitors, some of which are nearly as large and heavy as a power bank. However, this streamlined design comes with a few trade-offs. The most notable is the camera setup, which, while capable, lacks a dedicated telephoto lens. Furthermore, although Samsung has optimised the device to comfortably last a full day with regular use, the battery capacity and charging speeds feel underwhelming at this price point. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge feels like a smartphone that wants to have the edge over other smartphones visually and physically. Whether this translates into long-term stable performance will become clearer with time. But for now, Samsung’s approach suggests an intent to create a niche product that leans into style, lightness and tactility, without rushing into extremes. My first impression of the device is that it values design precision marking a shift over traditional flagship design formulas. How will that resonates with users will depend on how much they value slimness and whether the compromises made in pursuit of that ideal are acceptable.

Everyone who asks me for professional advice on what phone they should buy usually boils their key priorities down to two things: battery life and cameras. With that in mind, it’s certainly an interesting strategy for Samsung to compromise in those two areas in order to achieve the slimmer build. This is just a first look, mind you, and it could well be that the battery life surprises me in testing, or the two rear cameras are so good that I forget telephotos even exist. At $1,099, it’s $200 more expensive than the similarly sized Galaxy S25 Plus — and $200 less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship.Battery life is clearly the one area where the Galaxy S25 Edge is at a big disadvantage. You could argue the same for its cameras, but I think its dual-camera setup can still pack a punch. Yes, I’m willing to overlook not having a dedicated telephoto camera just as long as it makes do with pixel binning techniques to effectively reach the similar results. You can’t take away Samsung’s accomplishment here in creating a flagship phone that’s bonkers thin compared to anything else around.

I was skeptical about the Galaxy S25 Edge. Sure, a thin phone is nice to have, but not if it could come at the cost of elements like performance, cameras and battery life. But as soon as I held the phone in my hands, I understood. The phone is so vastly different from some of the best phones in 2025, with not only a thinner chassis but a much lighter one, more reminiscent of phones from around 10 years ago – but in the best way possible. Samsung has also packed in top-end tech like a Snapdragon 8 Elite to help justify the phone’s premium £1,099, but there’s no denying that compromises have been made. The phone’s 200MP main camera is great, but there’s no dedicated telephoto lens. And, while enough for the compact Galaxy S24, I do have great concerns about overall battery life powering such a large, high-end screen. That said, from a usability standpoint, it looks like Samsung could have a winner on its hands – though I’ll save my final thoughts for once I’ve spent more time with the device.

So no, this probably isn’t the most practical phone purchase you can make right now — but it was never meant to be. As with Samsung’s foldable phones, there’s more than a hint of form over function to the Edge. I’m impressed that Samsung has managed to keep so much of the phone on par with the other S25 models, but the camera and battery are hardly small considerations. They’re big compromises to make for the sake of getting a little pocket space back, but until I’ve had the chance to test the camera fully and push the battery for a few days, it’s impossible to say if it’s a trade worth making.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is so impressively thin that, when I held up its three colors, Kevin felt extra inspired to shoot The Shortcut’s cover photo in the style of X-Men, saying, “Hold them up like you have Wolverine’s claws.” Silly, but it worked. At 5.8mm, this phone is blade-thin, and, for a 6.7-inch screen, it’s incredibly light, or “light AF” (AF = as a feather, of course). The S25 Edge is an engineering marvel. It’ll arrive in stores on May 30, four months before we see a super-thin iPhone 17 Air. This is a preview for Apple owners as much as it is for Samsung fans. Do you need a thin phone? For the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 7 that folds in half, it makes sense. But there are trade-offs here. The S25 Edge’s “all-day battery life” is better than the base S24 but not quite at the level of the base S25, according to Samsung.

With a body that measures just 5.8 mm thin, the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the thinnest smartphones ever. It does so without sacrificing its top-notch, high-end features. Samsung also installed a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, a 3K display, and a 200-megapixel camera in the super-slim body. However, what kind of compromises do you have to accept for the extremely thin chassis? We took a look at the smartphone in a hands-on experience.

So back to our other key question – just who is the Galaxy S25 for? From my point of view, it’s someone who’s not price-sensitive (obviously) who doesn’t want a larger and heavier S25 Ultra that weighs 60g or so more. But the comparison with the S25+ is much more challenging. The S25 Edge may weigh 27g less and be 1.5mm thinner, but it’s also £100 more (and indeed, you can get the S25+ cheaper than that at the moment). You have to be pretty nuts to go for the Edge unless the price decreases markedly. It might be a feat of miniturisation, but there’s just no justification for it as things stand.

On a much better note, Samsung offers several incentives to chop down the Samsung S25 Edge's asking price of $1099.99 for the 256 GB version, or $1219.99 for the 512 GB model. The handset will be available on May 30, but those who preorder it at samsung.com or the Shop Samsung app can get the 512 GB variant for the same price as the the 256 GB kit, along with a $50 credit at the Samsung store. If that's still not enough to convince you, you can use the Samsung Trade In Program and hand in an older Galaxy series handset for an additional discount up to $630. The Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in silver, black, and light blue colorways.

Samsung looks to trim some fat and return to an age when smartphones can be unapologetically thin again. That’s the Galaxy S25 Edge in a nutshell. Samsung’s latest premium device is the lightest it has made in years. Samsung largely kept this phone under wraps since teasing it upon launching the Galaxy S25 Series of devices in January 2025. The only obvious point then was that it would be a thin device. Now that all’s been revealed, it’s clear the design is the primary focus.

Samsung’s newest phone isn’t the company’s most expensive but is pretty high up there. The 256GB storage variant costs $1,678.99, and the 512GB version costs $1,858.99, which puts the S25 Edge pricing between the S25+ and the S25 Ultra. You’re able to pre-order it today, and it goes on sale on May 30. Without testing the device, its cameras, battery and more, it’s hard to say if it’s worth that price. However, just based on the slim profile, it’s definitely intriguing. Samsung, keep breaking the bounds and trying new things, even if the S25 Edge doesn’t work—but boy, I’m hoping it does. The S25 Edge brings something new to the market without being gimmicky, and its slim profile is excellent for your hands and pockets.

All we know for sure so far is that this ultra slim smartphone will be just over 6mm thick when it finally launches, thinner than the other Sammy S25 line-up. You'll get a dual lens camera setup, so the telephoto shooter is probably gone. But we could see a 200MP sensor like the Ultra slapped on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, for cropping in. Here's hoping that Sammy has gone silicon carbon for the battery tech, otherwise this Slim boy is unlikely to match the Plus phone's 4900mAh battery. You can expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to sport another 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen like the S25 Plus. And hopefully the same Snapdragon 8 Elite smarts so the Samsung S25 Edge can satisfy gamers.

The Galaxy S25 Edge got a video tease at Samsung Unpacked and I got a chance to see it in person. Yes, it's stunningly slim, and it's creating a ton of buzz. But we also don't know the specs, price or release date, which can make people shopping for a Galaxy S25 Ultra confused about whether they should upgrade now or wait for the Edge. Lets dig into my initial impressions and your reactions.
