El Acer ES1-512 es un portátil básico decente con una buena relación precio-rendimiento. La pantalla mate de suficiente brillo, los útiles dispositivos de entrada y el gran aguante de batería facilitan el uso rutinario en la oficina. Las superficies robustas que permanecen agradablemente frescas incluso cuando los componentes internos están bajo una fuerte carga mientras que el ruido del ventilador permanece discreto también contribuyen a un uso placentero. El SoC quad-core tiene reservas de rendimiento más que de sobra para navegar por internet, ver vídeos o tareas ofimáticas como el procesado de textos.

El comprador se lleva un dispositivo de oficina equilibrado al precio de 299 Euros, incluyendo el sistema operativo.

Hay que hacer sacrificios, por ejemplo en la resolución de la pantalla y la dependencia del ángulo de visión, así como en la mejora de los componentes hardware. Los usuarios que quieran jugar ocasionalmente a juegos 3D tendrán que buscar entre la competencia. Los dispositivos con APU AMD en particular, como el Acer Aspire E5-521 o el HP 350 G1, pueden puntuar con mejor rendimiento, incluso si sólo tienen una capacidad limitada para el juego. Puede merecer también la pena esperar a futuros modelos del Aspire con el sucesor Intel Bay Trails, Cherry Trail que ofrece un mayor rendimiento gráfico.
