All in all, though, there’s a lot to like about these multimedia notebooks. While our living rooms were less crowded when we shipped them back to their makers, we do confess to being somewhat sorry to see them go. They certainly livened up our media consumption and made it easier for multiple family members to watch the movies of their choosing at the same time!

ASUS target market for the M70SA-X2 is towards the multimedia and gaming market segment. It does both of these fairly well, but could be better configured to do both. Instead, the system is better designed as a more general purpose performance system.

The Asus M70SA (£1391 inc. VAT) is a desktop replacement in the truest sense of the word. The body is made from thick and durable plastic that is finished in black and grey. The look is rather perfunctory, but the overall quality is above average. The one area where quality drops is the keyboard. It's a good size and there is even space for a numeric keypad, but we found there was a degree of rattle as we typed. This isn't a flaw, simply that we were expecting a little more attention to detail in this area. The design is impressive and while you won't want to take it on the move with you - it weighs 4.1kg - Asus has managed to fit plenty of features inside.

Priced at $2,399, the ASUS M70SA-C1 isn’t cheap. While it lacks the design flair of the Acer 8920G, it’s a stellar multimedia notebook that can act as an all-in-one entertainment hub. It’s not a gaming rig by any stretch, but the stunning display, Blu-ray drive, and absolutely insane storage capacity make it one of the best multifaceted machines around.

A full featured laptop with plenty of hard drive space, a striking FullHD display married with a blu-ray drive and HDMI output, plus almost every connection you would need, it is truly an mobile entertainment / productivity machine – and if you get past some of the lackluster 3D performance, and technical service response (if needed) you have a really well rounded multimedia laptop, fully featured, and a nice price tag.

The Asus M70 is the most fully loaded laptop we've seen in a long while. Aside from its massive terabyte of hard-drive space (enough to hold a few hundred movies or a few hundred thousand MP3s), the multimedia system incorporates a Blu-ray drive and a full-HD display, plus an HDMI port, TV tuner, and five-speaker stereo sound.
You can find Blu-ray-equipped desktop replacements for less, but no other media laptop currently offers as many features for the price as the Asus M70.

Comentario
Asus: Asus es un manufacturero internacional de tamaño mediano. En países donde se habla el idioma alemán e ingles hoy en día muchas portátiles de Asustec son analizadas. No obstante pocos modelos de portátiles alcanzan posiciones altas de acuerdo a la clasificación total y clasificación de premio/valor.
Estas tarjetas de video de clase media pueden mostrar todos los juegos actuales fluentemente. Juegos exigentes sólo pueden ser jugados con configuraciones de detalles medios.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650: Esta es una tarjeta de video de clase media, que es fabricada en proceso de 55nm y probablemente puede ser clasificada arriba de la HD 2600 / HD 2700. Gracias al video engine Avivo la tarjeta de video puede soportar procesador con varias operaciones de video (vídeo HD también).
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS: Una 9600M GT con frecuencia más baja, por lo tanto, un poco más lenta y fría. En conjunto con una 9100M la 9600M GS es capaz de usar HybridPower para ahorrar energía.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y 291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit", SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep, LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.
El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.
