Origen: DxOMark

The Vivo X200 Ultra delivers excellent results in the DXOMARK Camera tests, securing itself one of the top position in our ranking. It offers a highly original and complete camera system that stands out from the competition. Unlike most rival phones, which use a wider focal length of around 25 mm, the Vivo’s primary camera comes with an unusual 35 mm equivalent focal length, making it a very compelling option for portrait photography, thanks to a narrower depth of field which helps isolate the subject from the background. But the Vivo X200 Ultra is not only great for portrait photographers. Its camera’s overall performance make it one of the best imaging smartphones in general.

Thankfully, the vivo X200 Ultra also ticks many boxes for a 2025 flagship device. There’s the all-powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 6,000mAh battery that usually delivers two days of regular usage, 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, and a bright, 6.82-inch QHD+ OLED screen. Other notable vivo X200 Ultra features include IP68/IP69 ratings, an Apple-style Camera Control button, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 6.0, and Wi-Fi 7. So, the vivo X200 Ultra has a cutting-edge set of cameras that could be a sign of things to come, a ton of performance, a large battery, and plenty of premium extras. So far, so good, right? There is one major caveat, though. Unlike the excellent vivo X200 Pro ($749.99 at Giztop), the Ultra is limited to China only.

Vivo did it once again — the X200 Ultra delivers the best cameras of any phone you can buy today. There's a new 50MP main camera at the back that takes better photos than last year's X100 Ultra, and Vivo used the same sensor in the wide-angle lens, giving it a distinct edge. The 200MP telephoto lens is outstanding, and to round out the cameras, the X200 Ultra takes detailed portrait shots. It isn't just about the cameras either — the rest of the package is just as good. You get a design that's better to hold and use, one of the brightest AMOLED panels, silicon-carbon battery that lasts a day and a half, and all the extras. The only point of contention is that the phone isn't making its way outside China; even then, the X200 Ultra is the best phone I used this year, and I don't see that changing.

The X200 Ultra brings in meaningful advancements in the camera system, treating us to what's the best ultrawide on the market, a fresh take on the main camera, and a touched up telephoto with potential for yet more reach. The vivo flagship is also great for selfies - not a given with many Ultras out there. It's hard to find a cameraphone as complete as this one. Naturally, the X200 Ultra is solid on the fundamentals as well, even if it's not quite up there with the best in endurance and charging speed. The display is brighter than most, the speakers are good, the software is polished, even though it has its limitations for international use. With the X200 Ultra vivo has introduced a few improvements to what was already a winning formula. One of our favorite camera systems got a little different and in many ways better.

Well, you cannot buy the Vivo in most Western markets, so the question is not really relevant here. But the Vivo X200 Ultra is clearly an incredible camera phone. The clever idea of a 35mm main lens and a much better ultra-wide camera brings lots of benefits and results in fantastic images. However, that gigantic camera bump is not only an eye sore — it's a serious design flaw and one that many people won't be able to forgive. As for my personal conclusion, well, this will not become my daily driver for long, but I'm taking this phone on my next trip to Italy. It's a really exciting camera and would make for a great second phone, if you have that luxury.

After living with the X200 Pro for the past six months, I had extremely high expectations for the Vivo X200 Ultra. That's usually a good way to set yourself up for disappointment, but that's not what happened here. In fact, at least in the photography department, the X200 Ultra exceeded my expectations. I underestimated how much I would appreciate having such a well-specced ultrawide camera, and shooting with a 35mm primary lens made a bigger difference than I anticipated, too. Not to mention the photography kit and the excellent Zeiss teleconverter, which blew me away with its compression and sharp detail. While the cameras are the big draw, the phone is great elsewhere. The performance is top-notch, the battery lasts for ages, it charges quickly, and the screen is lovely. Of course, no phone is perfect. The selfie camera is good, but it's not the best, and it could really use some extra stabilisation for video shooting. The microphones are pretty mediocre too, they'll need some work to beat the likes of Apple.

Reviewing the Vivo X200 Ultra, one of the best smartphones of 2025 for camera fans, but a global release is off the cards. So the Chinese ROM, along with a few other issues, keeps the Vivo X200 Ultra from being my favourite phone right now. Here's a closer look at the gaming performance, battery life and other bits, now I've had a chance to use it as my full-time mobile. Most of this massive smartphone is rather enjoyable, such as the flexible, well designed camera which shoots crispy photos at various focal lengths. Almost any conditions result in slick pics, but the Vivo X200 Ultra does stumble in lower light where the tele focus and motion is concerned. For a closer look at the photography kit, check out my dedicated camera review video. Performance is good enough for gaming on Wuthering Waves etc for long periods.

Vivo X200 Ultra is here, and I got the full kit with the 200mm telephoto lens co-developed with Zeiss. The X200 Ultra does four things differently than most phones, including giving the ultra-wide camera parity, and making the main camera shoot at 35mm focal length. But the star of the show is still that 200MP Periscope sensor, the best zoom lens in the market.

The vivo X200 Ultra walks a fine line between smartphone and dedicated camera. Its 35mm-centric approach and modular add-ons cater to photography purists, while its refined hardware and software ensure mainstream appeal. Yes, the camera module is audacious, and the teleconverter borders on absurdity. But in a world where smartphones increasingly replace dedicated cameras, the X200 Ultra stands out by embracing—not masking—its hybrid identity. It’s a "V Camera" first, but also a no-compromise flagship that excels in everyday use. For those who demand both a pocketable powerhouse and a creative tool, it’s a compelling step forward—even if that step is half a stride into uncharted territory.

The vivo X200 Ultra isn’t just a phone—it’s a creative toolkit. While its size and premium pricing (expected above $900) will narrow its audience, photographers and videographers craving DSLR-like flexibility in a pocketable form will find it irresistible. With this device, vivo isn’t just playing the specs game; it’s redefining what a smartphone can be.
