Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. Si la frecuencia es demasiado lenta, la gente sensible podría experimentar problemas visuales, dolores de cabeza e incluso ver parpadeos.
Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM detectado 200 Hz ≤ 90 % de brillo

La retroiluminación del display parpadea a 200 Hz (seguramente usa PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) a un brillo del 90 % e inferior. Sobre este nivel de brillo no debería darse parpadeo / PWM.

La frecuencia de 200 Hz es relativamente baja, por lo que la gente sensible debería ver parpadeos y padecer fatiga visual por la pantalla (usado al brillo indicado a continuación).

Comparación: 53 % de todos los dispositivos testados no usaron PWM para atenuar el display. Si se usó, medimos una media de 18110 (mínimo: 5 - máxmo: 3846000) Hz.

Tiempos de respuesta del display

Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. Particularmente los aficionados a los juegos 3D frenéticos deberían usar una pantalla con tiempos de respuesta rápidos.

Asus tiene un portátil básico de oficina de 15,6" en su linea, el P541UA. El procesador Core i3 instalado tiene suficiente potencia de cálculo para el uso de aplicaciones de oficina e Internet. El portátil prácticamente no se calienta en absoluto. Sin embargo, el portátil no es uno de los dispositivos más silenciosos. El ventilador ocasionalmente funciona cuando está en pausa y produce un zumbido. Hay que mejorar esto.

 

Asus ofrece un portátil básico de oficina para casa con su  P541UA-Q1532

Una unidad de estado sólido garantiza el rápido funcionamiento del sistema. Sería posible reemplazarlo, pero esto requeriría abrir la carcasa. El teclado instalado cumple los requisitos para el uso doméstico. Los escritores prolíficos deben optar por otro dispositivo. El portátil tampoco aguanta mucho. Alcanzó una duración de sólo 3:51 horas con Endless OS en nuestra prueba Wi-Fi. Lo hizo mucho mejor con Windows 10, el portátil duró casi tres horas más.


El Sistema Operativo Endless OS 3 con el que viene dio una impresión decente. Sin embargo, la principal razón por la que Asus lo ha instalado es, presumiblemente, por no entregar el portátil "en bruto" al cliente. El sistema es adecuado para los usuarios que de vez en cuando abrir un sitio web cada pocos días. Los compradores que deseen utilizar Microsoft office suite, por ejemplo, tendrán que instalar un sistema operativo Windows. Esto es fácil de hacer.
