Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. Particularmente los aficionados a los juegos 3D frenéticos deberían usar una pantalla con tiempos de respuesta rápidos.

Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. Si la frecuencia es demasiado lenta, la gente sensible podría experimentar problemas visuales, dolores de cabeza e incluso ver parpadeos.
Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM detectado 200 Hz
75 cd/m² brillo

La retroiluminación del display parpadea a 200 Hz (seguramente usa PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) a un brillo del 75 cd/m² e inferior. Sobre este nivel de brillo no debería darse parpadeo / PWM.

La frecuencia de 200 Hz es relativamente baja, por lo que la gente sensible debería ver parpadeos y padecer fatiga visual por la pantalla (usado al brillo indicado a continuación).

Como el parpadeo sólo se da a bajo brillo, en el nivel habitual no a problemas. Sólo la lectura puede resultar fatigosa.

Comparación: 57 % de todos los dispositivos testados no usaron PWM para atenuar el display. Si se usó, medimos una media de 6272 (mínimo: 43 - máxmo: 142900) Hz.

El Cube Thinker es un típico portátil chino: muy llamativo, pero con una iluminación desfavorable, se forman grandes sombras. El diseño, completamente exitoso, contrasta con una pantalla que se cae (se puede reparar), y un teclado cuyas teclas tienen diferentes alturas. Debido al magro aguante de batería, no se puede disfrutar mucho del rendimiento. El ruido subliminal de carga puede resultar molesto para aquellos de naturaleza sensible. 

En el lado positivo, hay un display excelente para este precio, una base robusta, un buen rendimiento, y no olvidemos: un precio invencible. Estos sacrificios y la falta de garantía también deberían tenerse en cuenta a la hora de comprarlo.
