Around a year and a half ago we looked at the Asus Lambourghini VX2 and we were pretty enamoured with it. For a start, it gave us some actual justification for the usual TR habit of populating our reviews with more car analogies than a Bugatti Veyron has horsepower. Moreover, while the styling didn't really pay homage to the Lambo's namesake, it was still distinctive enough to persuade us it would appeal to supercar aficionados. Yes the VX3 is pricey, even overpriced, but what does that matter? It's a Lambourghini for goodness sake! There's nothing out there you can buy that's quite the same. (But I'll still have a Porsche 911 GT3 RS instead thanks - ed.)

When we recently reviewed Asus's ultraportable U2E, we thought that the premium end of the light laptop market had reached a zenith of luxury: a leather-clad chassis, a keyboard surrounded by brushed metal and a velvet pouch for the machine itself. We've been proved wrong, though, by the arrival of the Asus Lamborghini VX3. As the name attests, Asus has joined forces with the luxury car manufacturer with the aim of producing a laptop of unrivalled quality and performance. A hugely powerful luxury ultraportable, but it's undermined by poor ergonomics and a wallet-busting price.

Those who can afford the $3,299 ASUS Lamborghini VX3 will enjoy fast performance, discrete graphics, and bragging rights. If you can live with a slightly smaller 11-inch display but still want a notebook that will turn heads, check out the leather-clad ASUS U2E ($2,699), whose ultra-low voltage processor lasts longer. If performance is key and you’re on a budget, the $1,999 Acer Ferrari isn’t a bad deal. But for power-hungry road warriors with money to burn, the VX3 is an attractive option.

The $3,299 Asus Lamborghini VX3 is a lap-based homage to the famous sports car of the same name, complete with a screamingly bright automotive yellow paint job. The Asus Lamborghini VX3 is the laptop recast as status symbol. It looks and feels like a luxury item; we just wish it had a bit more power under the hood.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este es el sucesor Core Duo y el Core Solo con un pipeline más largo y con una velocidad entre 5-20% sin mayor consumo de energía. Adicional al diseño de Core Duo existe un cuarto decodificador, una unidad SSE ampliada y una unidad lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Sus características son: 2 núcleos (cores), una amplificación de comando de 64-bit EM64T y 2 o 4 MB L2 Cache y  291 millones de transistores, que son acabados en 65nm. Mas allá de esto, todos los tipos soportan técnicas "Execute Disable Bit",  SSSE3 (SSE4), Enhanced Speedstep,  LaGrande y la mayoría de técnicas de virtualizacion (VT) Vanderpool.

El Core 2 Duo para laptops es idéntico a los procesadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, pero los procesadores para notebooks trabajan con tensiones más bajas (0.95 a 1188 Volt) y un Frontside bus clock (1066 contra 667 MHz). El rendimiento de laptops cuena con una frecuencia de 20-25% más baja que PCs Desktop debido a una frecuencia más baja de Frontside bus y los discos duros más lentos.

La ventaja es, que la sub-portátil puede tener dimensiones menores y puede ser cargada fácilmente. Además, la pequeña pantalla tiene la ventaja de que necesita de menos energía, lo que mejora el tiempo de ejecución de la batería y como consecuencia la movilidad. La desventaja es que la lectura de textos es muy exhaustiva para los ojos. Altas resoluciones difícilmente pueden ser usadas.

Asus: Asus es un manufacturero internacional de tamaño mediano.  En países donde se habla el idioma alemán e ingles hoy en día muchas portátiles de Asustec son analizadas. No obstante pocos modelos de portátiles alcanzan posiciones altas de acuerdo a la clasificación total y clasificación de premio/valor.
