Breve análisis del Acer Aspire E5-553G-109A

Competitividad limitada. A pesar de algunas estrategias buenas, un SSD y bastante rendimiento CPU, no nos terminamos de acostumbrar al nuevo multimedia de Acer con base AMD. El motor no funciona con tanta eficiencia y fiabilidad como la competencia de Intel, y especialmente el display TN subpar sin flexibilidad ninguna en lo tocante al ángulo de visión seguramente sólo le vanga a los usuarios nada exigentes.

Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. Si la frecuencia es demasiado lenta, la gente sensible podría experimentar problemas visuales, dolores de cabeza e incluso ver parpadeos.

La retroiluminación del display parpadea a 28740 Hz (seguramente usa PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) .

La frecuencia de 28740 Hz es bastante alta, por lo que la mayoría de gente sensible al parpadeo no debería ver parpadeo o tener fatiga visual.

Comparación: 60 % de todos los dispositivos testados no usaron PWM para atenuar el display. Si se usó, medimos una media de 1345 (mínimo: 43 - máxmo: 30860) Hz.

Las características que más nos gustan del  Acer Aspire E5-553G-109A son los dispsoitivos de entrada decente (teclado) a muy bueno (ClickPad) así como la carcasa sólida bien fabricada. El procesador AMD es más adecuado para las aplicaciones ofimáticas y tiene problemas con algunos defectos tales como la ralentización, el uso subóptimo de los cuatro núcleos, y el débil rendimiento monohilo. Raramente adelanta siquiera a los dual-core i3s sin Hyper-Threading en multitarea. La construcción gráfica dual sin sentido Radeon R8 M445DX merece criticarse. No sólo casi no logra FPS adicionales comparado con la R7 M440 dedicada, sino que aumenta el peligro de pérdidas de frames. Al final no importa, ya que la solución gráfica dual se puede desconectar y la R7 M440 puede cumplir las tareas por sí misma, algo que recomendamos. Si evitas una carga elevada persistente, la tecnología AMD rinde tan bien en la práctica que garantiza un funcionamiento mayormente fluido. El SSD, por supuesto, juega un papel.

La mayor debilidad del nuevo Acer es sin duda su terrible display que dificulta hasta encontrarle algo positivo. Con una pantalla así, la recomendación de compra queda lejos.

Especialmente la terrible estabilidad de ángulo de visión no es más que una impertinencia, a pesar del hecho de que la calidad del display siga aún sin ser muy importante a muchos usuarios de portátil. Además, hay bandas de gradientes de color, que no veíamos hacía ya mucho, y probablemente indica una profundidad de color reducida.

La selección de puertos incluye USB Type-C, por otro lad, y es buena para este nivel de precio, aún cuando los puertos no estén bien posicionados. El módulo WLAN también hace una buena labor a la vista de que sólo tiene una antena. Que Acer incluya una escotilla de mantenimiento es digno de alabanzas hoy día.

Seamos francos: desde nuestro punto de vista difícilmente hay motivos para elegir el Acer E5-553G respecto a ninguno de los otros portátiles multimedia en este análisis. Especialmente el Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15ISK, que es ligeramente más caro, ofrece bastante más por lo que cuesta.
