You'll have to want the big screen as well. On top of that, you get a real keyboard, a full 15W quad-core Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. There's not much else that you can ask for in a portable PC that's just so light. At $1,699.99, the LG gram 17 is definitely a buy, if this sounds like the type of PC that you're looking for.

We're also unimpressed by the keyboard and unnerved by the screen's wobbling and bowing. Still, the Gram Pro 17 has a lot in its favor. If you set out to buy one of the biggest- and brightest-screened desktop replacement laptops, you'd probably not expect such feathery weight or long battery life. That makes the LG a pleasant surprise if not quite a repeat Editors' Choice winner.

Still, there are some drawbacks that keep me from recommending this laptop without reservation. The power cable is way too short, for one, which feels especially frustrating when the rest of the laptop's design is so good. The LG Gram 17 Pro's performance is also a little underwhelming compared to competitors of similar size and price. The configuration of Dell XPS 17 we tested last year, for example, can be yours right now for roughly the same price ($1,999) and it offers better performance (thanks to a more powerful CPU and more RAM) than the Gram 17 Pro.
