El teclado es muy cómodo, tiene detector de huella dactilar en el botón de encendido, un método cómodo y seguro, y su touchpad es una delicia, sus 13 cms de ancho y su tecnología NumberPad 2.0 son una pasada. La calidad de construcción y de sonido son otros pros a valorar. Repetimos que estamos ante un equipo muy completo, una delicia para creadores que trabajen en entornos dinámicos y muevan con frecuencia su equipo. Su tecnología antibacteriana es una curiosidad más, en estos tiempos tan locos que nos ha tocado vivir es algo que muchos agradecerán aunque, debemos ser consecuentes, de nada sirve esto si luego pagamos con efectivo. Por supuesto no tenemos potencia gráfica, ni está ni se le espera, faltaría más. El trabajo que ha hecho ASUS metiendo todo esto en un espacio minúsculo es de alabar. Tenemos otras tres opciones de colores en tonos verde pálido, beige rosáceo y blanco por poco más de 1.000 €, una compra totalmente recomendable.

Obtener un rendimiento así en un equipo de 13,3 pulgadas con apenas 1 kg de peso y menos de 1,5 cm de grosor esa algo impensable hace bien poco. Hablamos un rendimiento que puede superar a un 9700K de sobremesa, o a modelos de 45W con poco más de un año en sus espaldas y a una GTX 1050, y todo ello en un formato muy compacto. La conectividad física está limitada debido a su formato compacto, se agradece que cuente con 3 USB4 de tipo C y que se incluya un adaptador a USB-A, aunque eso añade un elemento más de "acompañamiento", y posiblemente sea más cómodo coger un pequeño HUB que añada también HDMI, Ethernet y lector de tarjetas. Igualmente, hay que comentar que el bloatware de McAffee es bastante intrusivo y penaliza considerablemente el rendimiento. Otro aspecto donde destaca el ASUS ZenBook S 13 OLED es en la pantalla que le da nombre. Su panel OLED de 2,8K 16:10 y 13,3 pulgadas demuestra que una tecnología tradicionalmente cara como la OLED, encima con alta resolución, se está extendiendo y es posible disfrutarla por un precio bastante contenido de 1.299 euros.

A very interesting trend is emerging. Some manufacturers revert back to slightly heavier laptops, in order to make them more competitive, while others – like ASUS, concentrate on making laptops as thin and light as possible. And it is quite successful in our opinion. Well, we said the same about Acer, who changes its Swift 5 to a fattier diet, making it gain 200 grams year on year. But sometimes, you need to go your own way, which may be completely different from the one of your competitors. Anyways, sitting at 1 kilo and 14.9mm, the Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302) establishes itself as one of the most portable laptops in its class. It has a surprisingly good performance and humongous rigidity, thanks to the magnesium-aluminum unibody. The battery life is also on point, with nearly 12 hours of Web browsing, or about 16 hours of video playback on a single charge. This can be contributed both to the large 67Wh battery and to the fantastic efficiency of the system. ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302)’s OLED touchscreen panel has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and fantastic pixel response times (despite the 60Hz refresh rate). It fully covers both the sRGB and the DCI-P3 color gamuts, while the software it comes with, features emulation for either of these color spaces. We are happy to see that the color accuracy, in this case, is great, and you can comfortably use your device for professional work. And if you are worried about the OLED technology’s affinity towards PWM usage in low brightness scenarios, you should remain calm. ASUS has a great technology, called “Flicker-Free Dimming”, which eliminates the issue with very little impact on color accuracy. Some miscellaneous features include the fingerprint reader, AI noise cancellation, MIL-STD-810H compliance, and Wi-Fi 6E support. The NumberPad never disappoints, and the touchscreen works great. And you can lay the display down flat to present your content to more people around you. Now, there are some things that we’d like to address. Unfortunately, the memory of this device is soldered to its motherboard. With a maximum of 16GB outside the box, you can’t really expect to be on the sharp edge of technology in the future. Also, you have no SD card reader, nor a regular-size USB port. Quite frankly, ASUS supplies a USB Type-C to Type-A dongle inside the box. If these disadvantages are not too big for you, go on, and get yourself a Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302). The feeling you get when using the laptop is amazing, while its more traditional design makes it a more comfortable for use machine than the Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320.
