El último Pavilion 17 está a medio camino entre un portátil multimedia y uno de juego. Es más potente de lo que su modesto diseño de plástico sugeriría, y es relativamente portable visto el tamaño de su pantalla. Esto hace que el portátil sea una solución polivalente para los que quieran la GPU Nvidia GTX y la pantalla más grande sin sacrificar demasiado en el peso.

Deja a un lado la graica y tienes básicamente un portátil barebones. Al sistema le falta un amplio abanico de opciones de conectividad y caracerísticas de primera que aparecen en otros portátiles de juego como G-Sync y un subwoofer e incluso le falta algo que aparece en los Ultrabooks como USB Type-C y NVMe. El ventilador es ruidoso incluso para un portátil de juego en parte debido a sus potentes entrañas, su diseño relativamente delgado, y su solución de único ventilador. Sólo podemos recomendar el Pavilion 17 y su GPU GTX 960M si el tamaño de su pantalla, su portabilidad, precio y potencia gráfica son más prioritarias que las características extra, la mantenibilidad, el mantenimiento, y un ventilador silencioso.
