El ZBox EN980 no es el mini PC de juegos más pequeño o ligero del mercado, pero usa su contorno extra con sabiduriá con un sistema de ventilación eficiente que no debería pasar desapercibido. Cuando se compara incluso con portátiles de juego gruesos como el GT72S o la serie Asus G752, tanto el ruido del ventilador como las temperaturas internas son notablemente inferiores bajo carga con un potencial de overclocking de GPU superior. Es un diseño muy sólido - si bien aburrido en su forma - que es más práctico que pomposo.

Para su precio de $1600 USD, empero,m nos parece que el sistema debería haber ofrecido más. Características tales como NVMe, DDR4, RAID, Thunderbolt 3, y mejores controles de ventilador son cosas comunes en portátiles de juego de ese nivel de precios. El ruido de ventilador en inactivo podría haber sido más quedo y opciones de CPU superiores desde el rango Core i7 habrían hecho de él una mejor compra ya que al existente Core i5-6400 le falta algo de potencia en las cargas de trabajo multihilo. Las ya bajas temperaturas de la CPU sugieren que la ventilación de solución serviría para procesadores más rápidos si Zotac siguiera usando este chasis.

Con Pascal ya disponible tanto en sobremesas como portátiles, esperamos que el EN980 (y otros sistemas equipados con Maxwell) bajen de precio en los próximos meses. Su diseño y su rendimeinto GPU son excelentes siempre que a los usuarios no les importe perder algunas características de hardware y conectividad.
