Reseña del Dell 16S DS16260: un Dell 16 Plus mejorado

Excelente relación calidad-precio en función de la configuración.

Veredicto: una opción sólida y convencional a un precio adecuado

El Dell 16S presenta un diseño de chasis más resistente y maduro que el del Dell 16 Plus del año pasado, sin necesidad de renunciar a los puertos ni a la facilidad de mantenimiento. Las opciones de CPU y pantalla también han mejorado para incluir una pantalla OLED de 120 Hz y, quizás lo más destacado, el Core Ultra X7, que ofrece el mismo nivel de rendimiento gráfico que el último XPS 16. El diseño actualizado por sí solo hace que merezca la pena considerar el nuevo modelo frente al del año pasado.

Aunque los precios de salida del Dell 16S son razonables, cabe señalar que pueden dispararse fácilmente hasta superar los 2.000 dólares estadounidenses, lo que hace que el modelo resulte más difícil de recomendar en determinados niveles de configuración. La configuración con el Core Ultra 7 355, por ejemplo, parte de 1 310 dólares, mientras que el simple hecho de cambiar la CPU por el Core Ultra X7 358H aumentaría el precio significativamente hasta los 2 120 dólares. Configurar el XPS 16 con la misma CPU solo resulta ligeramente más caro, a 2350 dólares, incluso con la misma memoria RAM y el mismo almacenamiento, y una pantalla IPS similar. Por lo tanto, los usuarios que deseen el Core Ultra X7, más rápido, podrían gastarse un poco más para disfrutar de la experiencia superior que ofrece el XPS 16, mientras que el Dell 16S resulta mucho más fácil de vender en los niveles de configuración intermedios del Core Ultra 7.

Precio y disponibilidad

Dell ya ha comenzado a comercializar el modelo 16S, con un precio a partir de 1.310 dólares para la configuración con Core Ultra 7 y pantalla FHD.

Al igual que el Dell 14S de 14 pulgadas sucede al anterior Dell 14 Plus, el Dell 16S de 16 pulgadas, destinado al mercado general, es el sucesor del Dell 16 Plus del año pasado. El nuevo modelo incorpora varias mejoras, especialmente en lo que respecta al diseño del chasis, al tiempo que actualiza las opciones de procesador, pasando de Intel Lunar Lake a Panther Lake y AMD Zen 5.

Nuestra unidad de prueba es una configuración intermedia con la CPU Intel Core Ultra 7 355 y una pantalla táctil OLED de 1800p, por aproximadamente 1700 dólares estadounidenses. Otras referencias pueden incluir el Core Ultra X7 358H, más potente, o bien venir con pantallas IPS de menor resolución.

Entre sus competidores se encuentran otros portátiles multimedia de gama media de 16 pulgadas, como el Lenovo Ideapad Slim 5, la serie HP OmniBook 5 o la serie Asus VivoBook S16.
