Veredicto: una sencilla carcasa tipo clamshell para oficina bien diseñada

El Dell Pro 5 16 ofrece una pantalla de gran tamaño sin la tarjeta gráfica dedicada ni las opciones 4K, de las que muchos usuarios pueden prescindir. Por lo tanto, los precios parten de niveles más razonables, lo que lo convierte en una solución empresarial atractiva y sin florituras, especialmente para quienes valoran los entornos AMD Pro o Intel vPro. Además, merece una mención especial la memoria RAM extraíble, ya que la memoria soldada se está convirtiendo en algo habitual en la mayoría de los demás modelos.

El rendimiento bruto, cuando se configura con el Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470, resulta impresionante para un portátil empresarial de gama media. Tenga en cuenta que, aunque los modelos de Intel presentan un rendimiento del procesador ligeramente inferior al de AMD, la velocidad de la memoria RAM puede ser mayor, ya que, por el momento, la tecnología CAMM solo es configurable con Intel.

Hay algunos pequeños inconvenientes que merece la pena mencionar, la mayoría de los cuales probablemente sean deliberados para ahorrar costes. La carga por USB-C, por ejemplo, solo está disponible en el borde izquierdo del dispositivo, a diferencia del Dell Pro 7 14. La compatibilidad con SSD se limita únicamente a una unidad M.2 2242 de tamaño reducido, sin opciones secundarias. El compuesto de magnesio ligero, presente en el Dell Pro 7, no se encuentra en el Dell Pro 5. También se recomienda evitar las opciones de pantalla de gama baja debido a su reproducción del color notablemente inferior. Nuestra unidad de prueba del Dell Pro 5 16 es una configuración AMD de gama alta con la CPU Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470 Zen 5 y una pantalla IPS de 1600p a 120 Hz, por un precio aproximado de 4500 dólares. Los modelos de gama más baja parten del Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435, con pantalla de 1200p a 60 Hz y mucha menos memoria RAM, a un precio considerablemente inferior. Este modelo también está disponible con opciones de la serie Intel Core 3.
