 MT8389

El Mediatek MT8389 es un SoC (System on a Chip) ARM de bajo costo, que es usado principalmente en tablets. Es producido en 28 nm e integra un procesador quad-core Cortex-A7 y una GPU PowerVR SGX 544. Los núcleos de la CPU normalmente tienen una frecuencia de 1,2 - 1,5 GHz, mientras que la GPU tiene 300 MHz. Las especificaciones oficiales del MT8389 son iguales a las del SoC MT8125.

Rendimiento

Ya que la arquitectura Cortex-A7 es un poco más lenta que un diseño Krait o Cortex-A9 con la misma frecuencia, el rendimiento del MT8389 está justo abajo del Tegra 3 de Nvidia o del Samsung Exynos 4412. El PowerVR SGX 544 también es una solución de bajo costo y no es adecuado para resoluciones ultra-altas o juegos muy exigentes.

Características

Además del procesador y GPU, el SoC también integra un decodificador para videos 1080p, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM, GPS, así como radio 2G y 3G (hasta HSPA+). Las cámaras son soportadas hasta una resolución de 13 MP.

Consumo de Energía

Gracias a los núcleos energéticamente eficientes A7, así como a la avanzada producción de 28nm, el consumo de energía probablemente sea relativamente bajo. Por tanto, el chip puede ser usado en tablets más pequeños.
