Samsung 5250 Dual

El Samsung Exynos 5 Dual (también llamado Exynos 5250) es un sistema en un chip (SoC) para tablets. Fue introducido en 2012 (primero en el tablet Google Nexus 10) y posee dos núcleos Cortex-A15, que tiene una frecuencia de 1,7 GHz. Comparado con la arquitectura Cortex-A9 comúnmente utilizada, los núcleos A15 ofrecen un rendimiento por MHz de cerca de 50 por ciento superior, lo que hace que el Exynos 5250 sea uno de los SoCs ARM más rápidos de 2012. En combinación con su frecuencia elevada, el Exynos supera incluso a SoCs quad-core como el Nvidia Tegra 3. El controlador de memoria soporta LPDDR3 con un máximo de dos canales de 32 bits y frecuencia de 800 MHz, lo que resulta en un ancho de banda de hasta 12,8 GB/s.

El GPU es licenciado por ARM y es llamada Mali-T604. El Exynos 5250 integra el modelo MP4, que ofrece un total de 4 núcleos GPU con frecuencia de 533 MHz (72,5 GFLOPS). El Mail T604 soporta OpenGL ES 3.0, OpenCL 1.1 y DirectX 11 y ofrece un rendimiento ligeramente inferior al PowerVR SGX554MP4 encontrado en el SoC A6X de Apple. Así, los típicos juegos de Android (2013) pueden ser jugados fluentemente incluso con resoluciones muy altas, como 2.560 x 1.600 pixeles. Además, un motor códec de video multi-formato 1080p 60 fps y un ISP incorporado de 8 MP 30 fps, están integrados.

Debido al alto rendimiento, el consumo de energía del SoC también es relativamente elevado. Los picos de consumo máximo de energía de cerca de 4 a 8 watts, de modo que el Exynos 5250 puede ser utilizado sólo en grandes tablets.
