 MT8176

El Mediatek MT8176 es un SoC (System on a chip) ARM superior que fue presentado en octubre de 2016 y es utilizado principalmente para tablets basados en Android. Posee dos veloces núcleos de CPU Cortex-A72  corriendo con hasta 2,1 GHz y cuatro núcleos Cortex-A53 para ahorro de energía en una configuración big.LITTLE. La unidad gráfica se basa en la serie IMG 6XT (Rogue) y tiene la designación PowerVR GX6250 con velocidad de 600 MHz. Entre otros, la GPU incluyes un decodificador de vídeo con soporte para 4K y H.265 (no verificado, pero ya fue el caso para la antigua MT8173).

Procesador

El mayor punto de destaque del SoC son los nuevos núcleos Cortex-A72, que pueden ser vistos como los sucesores al diseño Cortex-A57. ARM promete mucho más rendimiento, en combinación con un consumo de energía reducido, que resulta en un excelente rendimiento por-thread con la velocidad máxima más alta de 2,4 GHz. La arquitectura se basa en ARMv8-ISA y, por tanto, soporta 64-bits.

Los cuatro núcleos Cortex-A53 más lento, por tanto, muy frugales (velocidades desconocidas, probablemente alrededor de 1,4 GHz) supuestamente reducen el consumo de energía y siempre están activos con cargas livianas. la configuración big.LITTLE también permite el uso simultáneo de los seis núcleos (o cualquier combinación de núcleos de ambos clusters), por eso el MT8173 pude ser llamado de verdadero hexa-core.

Gráficos

La unidad gráfica se basa en la serie 6XT (Rogue) de IMG y tiene la designación PowerVR GX6250. El chip de 2-clusters tiene una arquitectura de shader unificado con un total de 64 ALUs FP32, así como 4 TMUs. Comparado con el MT8173, las velocidades fueron reducidas de 700 a 600 MHz, por tanto, el rendimiento en los juegos es un poco más bajo. Lidia sin problemas con pantallas de alta resolución y juegos Android complejos.
