AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-86

El AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-86 es un procesador dual core para portátiles basado en el núcleo Griffin (plataforma Puma). Con 2,4 GHz es el procesador más veloz de la serie-ZM. Fue introducido el 2008 y se basa en una mezcla de la antigua arquitectura K8 (núcleos) y la más moderna arquitectura K10 (controlador de memoria, vínculos HyperTransport, crossbar). Una novedad de la serie ZM, es la posibilidad de cambiar los estados de energía de los núcleos y el controlador de memoria independientemente para ahorrar energía.

Comparado con la serie Turion 64 X2 RM, los modelos Ultra ofrecen el doble de chache de nivel 2. Los modelos Athlon X2 QL también se basan en la misma arquitectura, pero apenas ofrecen funciones reducidas de ahorro de energía (p-states).

Gracias a l más grande cache de nivel 2 y las partes K10, la serie ZM es notablemente más veloz que la antigua generación. Sin embargo, el rendimiento y eficiencia energética aún no está a la par con la serie Core 2 Duo de Intel. Por lo tanto, el rendimiento del ZM-86 sólo llegó a la clase media en el momento del anuncio.
