AMD A4-4300M

El AMD A4-4300M es un procesador dual-core móvil basado en la arquitectura Trinity. Presentado oficialmente en 2012, es el sucesor directo de la serie A Llano de APUs (Accelerated Processing Unit) . La unidad de procesamiento es producida en 32nm SOI e integra un CPU de 2,5 GHz (hasta 3,0 GHz con Turbo Core) con un GPU Radeon HD 7420G con un controlador de memoria de dos canales, decodificadores y codificadores de video y un northbridge.

Los núcleos del CPU se basan en una arquitectura Bulldozer reformulada, llamada Piledriver. Aunque es comercializado como un procesador dual-core, el A6-4400M incluye sólo un módulo con dos núcleos enteros y un núcleo de punto flotante. Como resultado, el CPU no es un verdadero procesador dual-core.

II) Cuando se lo compara con anteriores núcleos Bulldozer, AMD logró mejorar el rendimiento IPC (instrucciones per clock) de núcleos Trinity mientras permite frecuencias superiores. No obstante, cuando es comparado con su predecesor Llano, el rendimiento multithreaded del Trinity fue apenas ligeramente mejorado. El recurso Turbo Core 3.0 mejorado funciona bien, acelerando el rendimiento single threaded, aunque aún no esté en el mismo nivel del equivalente Turbo Boost de Intel. A pesar de todo, AMD también logró incluir otros recursos, tal como la extensión AVX (incluyendo FMA) y soporte para la codificación AES.

En términos de rendimiento bruto general, el A4-4300M se desempeña de forma similar al A4-3310MX basado en Llano. Cargas de trabajo single-threaded pueden beneficiarse mucho de la nueva arquitectura y de la actualización de la funcionalidad Turbo Core. Si es comparado con las series Pentium de Intel, el A4-4300M ofrece menos rendimiento en la mayoría de los casos. A pesar de todo, el rendimiento de CPU del procesador AMD es suficiente para todos las tareas de oficina del día a día y navegar por Internet, pero alcanzará sus límites en aplicaciones más exigentes.

La Radeon HD 7420G integrada, compatible con DirectX 11 probablemente ofrece apenas 192 núcleos shader del chip Trinity (7660G: 384) y, gracias al Turbo Core, operará en algún lugar entre 470 a 640 MHz dependiendo de la exigencia de la aplicación. En promedio, el rendimiento de la GPU HD 7420G debe estar en algún lugar entre la Radeon HD 6520G basada en Llano y la HD Graphics 4000 como encontramos en el Ivy Bridge de Intel.

El consumo de energía de la APU A4-4300M se clasifica con TDP de 35 Watts y es, por tanto, comparable con procesadores dual-core Ivy Bridge. Consecuentemente, la A4-4300M es bien adecuada para portátiles de 14 pulgadas o superiores.
