HiSilicon Kirin 925

El HiSilicon Kirin 925 es un SoC (system-on-a-chip) octa-core basado en ARM para smartphones y tablets. Fue lanzado el tercer trimestre de 2013 junto con el Huawei Ascend Mate 7 y tiene cuatro núcleos Cortex-A15 con frecuencia de hasta 1,8 GHz. Además, hay otros cuatro núcleos Cortex-A7 a 1,3 GHz, una GPU ARM Mali-T628 MP6 y un controlador de memoria 2x 32 bit LPDDR3. El LTE Cat integrado. 6 módem ofrece velocidades de descarga de hasta 300 Mbps.

Procesador 

Comparada con la arquitectura comúnmente usada Cortex-A9 y Cortex-A7, los núcleos A15 ofrecen un rendimiento por lo menos 50 por ciento superior, que hace con que el Kirin 925 sea uno de los SoCs ARM de gama alta de 2014. En promedio, el rendimiento de la CPU está casi en el mismo nivel del Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 o Samsung Exynos 5420. 

Además, HiSilicon integró cuatro núcleos Cortex-A7 con frecuencia de hasta 1,3 GHz. Dependiendo de la carga del sistema, el SoC realizará la conmutación automáticamente entre los poderosos núcleos A15 y los eficientes núcleos A7 para mejorar el consumo de energía en un concepto que ARM llama "big.LITTLE". Si fuese necesario, los ocho núcleos pueden ser usados simultáneamente, así el chip puede ser descrito como un "verdadero" SoC octa-core.

Gráficos

Similar al Samsung Exynos 5420, el Kirin 925 integra una GPU Mali-T628 MP6, que ofrece seis clusters shader (~120 GFLOPS a 600 MHz, velocidad no confirmada). La Mali-T628 soporta OpenGL ES 3.0, OpenCL 1.1 y DirectX 11 y ofrece un rendimiento increíble que está sólo un poco atrás del Adreno 330 (Snapdragon 800) o un PowerVR G6430 (Apple A7). Por eso, la GPU incluso puede ejecutar los juegos Android más exigentes con resoluciones (hasta 2560 x 1600 pixels) y detalles altos.

Consumo de Energía

El Kirin 925 es producido en un proceso de 28nm (TSMC HPM) y debe tener un consumo de energía similar al otros SoCs de gama alta, por ejemplo, el Exynos 5420. Por tanto, el chip es adecuado para smartphones de tamaño mediano (o más grande), bien como tablets.
