Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ / 855 Plus

El Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus (855+) Mobile Platform es un SoC de gama alta para smartphones y tabletas que Qualcomm anunció en 2019. En comparación con el Snapdragon 855 normal, el 855 Plus ofrece mayores velocidades de la GPU y la CPU. El SoC integra un veloz ��Prime Core�� que llega a una velocidad de hasta 2,96 GHz (desde 2,84 GHz en el 855) y otros tres núcleos de rendimiento ARM Cortex-A76 rápidos, que pueden alcanzar hasta 2,42 GHz. Estos se complementan con cuatro núcleos ARM Cortex-A55 de ahorro de energía que alcanzan un máximo de 1,8 GHz.

El SoC también integra el nuevo módem LTE X24 que Qualcomm promete que ofrecerá una velocidad máxima de descarga de hasta 2 Gbit/s sobre LTE Cat.20 y velocidades de carga de hasta 316 Mbit/s. El Snapdragon 855 también puede ser configurado con el nuevo módem X50 5G de la compañía.

Qualcomm también ha mejorado el módem Wi-Fi integrado, que está listo para Wi-Fi 6, tiene Sonido 8x8 y admite hasta Wi-Fi 802.11 ay. El módem Wi-Fi puede utilizar la banda de 60 GHz mmWave para velocidades de internet de hasta 10 Gbit/s.

El DSP Hexagon 690 ha sufrido la mayor cantidad de revisiones que Qualcomm ha integrado en el Snapdragon 855. El nuevo DSP incorpora una unidad de procesamiento neuronal (NPU) con núcleos Tensor dedicados que pueden ejecutar hasta 7 trillones de operaciones por segundo junto con la CPU y la GPU. En resumen, el Snapdragon 855 debería ser tres veces más rápido que el Snapdragon 845 y dos veces más rápido que el SoC Kirin 980.

El Snapdragon 855 también tiene un Spectra 380 ISP a bordo, que es el primer chip del mundo en incorporar un motor de visión por computadora (CV-ISP) que puede realizar cálculos de profundidad en vídeos de hasta 60 FPS. El Snapdragon 855 debería ofrecer modos de retrato en tiempo real o ser capaz de detectar objetos con un consumo de energía relativamente bajo.

El controlador de memoria incorporado soporta hasta 16 GB de RAM LPDDR4x (4 x 16 bits). Al igual que la SD855, la 855+ integra una tarjeta gráfica Adreno 640 que ahora tiene una velocidad más alta y debería ofrecer un rendimiento 15% mayor.

Qualcomm fabricará el Snapdragon 855+ en Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) utilizando un proceso FinFET de 7 nm.
