AMD A9-9425

El AMD A9-9425 es un chip de nivel básico de la serie Stoney-Ridge APU para portátiles (7ª generación de APU), que se anunció a mediados de 2018. En comparación con el A9-9420, un año más antiguo, el 9425 tiene una velocidad de reloj de la CPU 100 MHz más alta (base y boost), así como una iGPU marginalmente más rápida. Integra dos núcleos de CPU (un módulo Excavator con 2 enteros y una unidad FP) a una velocidad de 3,1 GHz a 3,7 GHz. También incluye una GPU Radeon R5 con 192 shaders a un máximo de 900 MHz, así como un controlador de memoria DDR4-2133 de un solo canal, un decodificador de vídeo H.265 y un chipset con todos los puertos de E/S.

Arquitectura

Stoney Ridge es el sucesor de la arquitectura Carrizo y el diseño es casi idéntico. Sin embargo, gracias a los procesos de fabricación optimizados y a un comportamiento Boost más agresivo, los relojes son un poco más altos con el mismo consumo de energía. El controlador de memoria ahora también es compatible con la memoria DDR4, en este caso hasta 2133 MHz. Stoney Ridge es la denominación del chip más pequeño de doble núcleo y un solo núcleo, mientras que Bristol Ridge es el chip más grande de cuatro núcleos con controlador de memoria de doble canal. Rendimiento

Gracias al elevado reloj máximo de hasta 3,7 GHz, el rendimiento mononúcleo es adecuado. En cambio, el rendimiento multinúcleo está limitado por el módulo único y, por tanto, sólo se sitúa en el nivel de entrada de las CPU de 2018. Esto significa que el A9 es más adecuado para aplicaciones poco exigentes.

El TDP se puede configurar entre 10-15 vatios, por lo que puede haber grandes diferencias de rendimiento bajo cargas de trabajo sostenidas.

Consumo de energía

AMD especifica el TDP del A9-9425 con 15 vatios, pero se puede configurar entre 10-15 vatios. Esto significa que la CPU es una buena opción para portátiles finos y ligeros, pero también para dispositivos de 15 pulgadas con mejor capacidad de refrigeración.
